  1. Cain lines out sharply to CF, that's getting pretty old. Maybe some day his hard hit balls will start plugging gaps.
  2. Yikes, I don't know about taking Anderson out just yet...unless CC thought his stuff wasn't particularly sharp.
  3. Theoretically, Anderson gets through 6...Jeffress and Claudio get through the 7th...Hader for the last 2? Actually...theoretically we score another 10 runs and Jackson finishes again...but more realistically I'm thinking the first scenario makes sense.
  4. Jeez, Giants put up 3 on the Rockies in the top of the 1st. That team is on fire, getting 1 from them might prove to be quite the feat.
  5. Based on the swing, I felt like that McCann double should have died in medium deep CF. Can't believe that hit the wall on the fly.
  6. I ran home to New Berlin for lunch, it was raining pretty good at my house. I am pretty shocked to hear the roof is open based on that. It was a very small raincloud so maybe it just missed the stadium to the south.
  7. Once we get to September, we'll probably go the TrueBlue multi-inning reliever route for a couple rotation spots and any potential playoffs. At this point, Woodruff/Davies/Chacin are locked in, and maybe GG if he looks good. That last spot and maybe GG's spot will probably be a planned piggyback as we'll have plenty of arms available. Anderson/Minor for 3-4 innings each and GG/Houser/Peralta for 3-4 innings each. So if we got Minor, we'd probably make do for a month or whatever and have a better plan in place for September baseball forward. My guess is he would start initially.
  8. I agree 100 percent. I know the counter argument is we lost 2 of 3 to the Giants, but the Giants are also beating the Rockies 29-7 so far in the first 3 games of their series. The Giants also won 6 of 7 heading into the break. Taking one from a team that hot you could argue was successful...and the other 2 games were relatively close until our 6th and 7th bullpen arms blew them open. The Braves won 4 of 6 heading into the break and 4 straight after the break until they lost to us yesterday. So fairly obvious the Braves are also playing well.
  9. I feel like this game is a really big deal. It would be huge to take 2 of 3 from a quality team like the Braves. I feel like that alone would signal we should be buyers. A sign of turning things around and taking 2 of 3 from the 2nd best team record in the NL.
  10. I'm personally not a fan of loading up RH hitters against a LH starter. LH starters generally have arsenals geared more toward getting RH hitters out since they face more of them. I like throwing at least 2 LH hitters in a lineup against a LH starter so they have to change how they pitch. Can't just figure out and start spotting the changeup just off the outside corner over and over against a RH hitter. You for sure shouldn't start Thames, but I would have liked to see one of Gamel/Moose in the lineup today. Not a huge deal though, that 7-9 looks like 3 automatic outs though...yikes.
  11. I thought that too. Walking 10 minutes each way to and from general parking because you forgot your concealed carry probably only happens once.
  12. Could be way low, we'll see what this security guy and the others say. Maybe I'm too hopeful/positive this time around. You definitely make good points.
  13. Those trades seem a lot closer to me from a value standpoint, it's hard to come even close to accurate on who might be traded for what guy...but the idea of nabbing 1 solid starter and 2 relievers...all with 1.5 years of team control seems about right. Again, I could also see us going for Greinke...but that's tougher.
  14. No, people are creatures of habits. If you are always carrying something no matter if it is a gun, knife, mace, or anything else you are likely to forget you have it. A lot of times when I am carrying I forget I have mine on me. Unless you are always showing your gun off you shouldn't even know it is there. I would hope this is not the case. There are too many places that you aren't allowed to concealed carry. I also want to say you aren't allowed to drink a bunch and carry, but I'm not overly aware of the rules. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would like to think people carrying are very aware they have a deadly weapon on them when carrying...and therefore very few if any people would accidentally try to bring a weapon in to miller park.
  15. So crazy how close it is. Basically everyone is ok except the Marlins suck, the Dodgers are awesome, and the Braves are a small step behind the Dodgers. Then you look at the AL and there are 5 teams hanging around by the Marlins and the playoff race is pretty much a 7 team race for 5 spots. Rangers and Angels can pretend to try and be in it if they want, but they aren't.
  16. I like it in theory, but don't know if I want to add any pressure to Hiura. I think I'd prefer to more slowly inch him up. I'm guessing we'll see Braun and Hiura flipped. I personally would go Aguilar 3rd, Hiura 5th, Braun 6th.
  17. This is probably going to be too pessimistic for certain posters on this board but I'm not going believe they have turned a corner until they can show that this pitching staff can go through the rotation a couple of times at an acceptable level of performance. I need to see the consistency with the pitching. Reasonable response. Over the last 14 days, 10 Brewer starts have resulted in 53 IP and 18 runs scored over 10 starts. If you subtract Houser, it's 43 IP and 9 runs over 8 starts. For me, that's acceptable.
  18. I feel like the answer has to be something like 1-2 guns per month max. I would say zero, but I get the impression from your question it's more than zero. I will say an old guy from a group of friends I was going with accidentally tried to enter a game with a pocket knife in his pocket. I first off think that is super rare, and also that a person is going to be far more aware of a concealed carry gun than a pocket knife.
  19. Yeah, my optimism only goes so far This feels like giving him those last 5-10 days of starts before we trade for someone better and DFA/release him. I don't agree with it, rather have Arcia for the defense...that's the vibe I'm getting. Give him a "fair" chance to turn it around.
  20. I've been rolling this general premise around in my head a bit and it might be the best option. I think the Indians are trying to win, so I don't see them trading Bauer. Maybe you go for Greinke instead with Ray as the headliner...having them send back 15-20 million. I also will say I like your targets other than Bauer, but I don't like any of those trades at all. Also, Chacin/Albers are getting minimal return if traded. Chacin might get the Cashner return at best...Albers will get a 25 year old in high a with no upside. The general premise of going big this deadline though, I think I might like it. We've also seen how trades can help energize your core players and spark winning streaks.
  21. Those people aren't going away. The mods actually had to put together a post last year at this time admonishing these type of posters. In a 96-win season!!! This should win post of the year. Man if you can't be happy with the team in a 96 win season...
  22. Are people not supposed to discuss what is currently happening? If you don't like reality, don't take it out on others. The Brewers are 3-8 in July. The Red Sox opened the season 3-8. The Dodgers went on a 6 game losing streak at one point and a 4 game losing streak spread across the all-star break. The Astros lost 7 in a row in June. I could probably do the same for every elite team and find stretches of very bad play. The Brewers don't stack up with those teams, but right now we're in a stretch of poor play. It's very likely we snap out of this stretch of play and win games in bunches at some point in the next 2 months...hopefully sooner than later. And I guess I would probably just stop watching if I really was as disgusted as some seem to be by their performance. I don't understand going to a forum to do nothing but dunk on every little thing they did wrong. It's not fun or funny or cool or realistic or any of that. You can hope they turn it around, or go to the negativity thread and talk about how we should trade Yelich and Hader and just be terrible for the next 10 years.
  23. That won't happen, even if Joseph comes on and calculates that Greinke is a negative value contract...it would still take good prospects to get the Dbacks to move him. Your best bet is to look at the Astros trade for Verlander as a comparable. The Tigers paid a chunk of the contract but got some good prospects back in return. It's not a perfect comparison but should be a good template to look at.
