  1. I think everyone is against abusing women, except for a very small minority of people that do it. But I tend to agree, I just don't think he's that good. This isn't like a Roberto Osuna situation where the guy is actually a stud, and you can get away with making an announcement denouncing his actions but use the player(and probably behind the scenes be sure to straighten him out). Russell might be mildly more valuable than Arcia at most, but not enough of an upgrade to be worth anything. And again, I would never ever trade with the cubs on principle.
  2. That's a hard no from me. Jeffress (DUI) and Braun (Cheating, and how he handled it) could be said to have "some personal baggage", but Russell is on a whole different level to that. I absolutely do not want him on the Brewers. He's a better player than Arcia, but I'd never want to replace Arcia with Russell. We should never ever make an even remotely substantial trade with the Cubs. I could care less about the whole moral superiority nonsense, we're talking about baseball and trying to help the Brewers win. We agree in the end, but for extremely different reasons.
  3. I didn't want to get too carried away with specific order, the point is obvious though. There is no hole in that lineup...especially when Woodruff is starting. Would Peralta + Dubon + Ashby for Story + Bryan Shaw be close? Shaw is negative value, so taking him is adding benefit to the Colorado side...but I also think he'd be better than Burch Smith, Jay Jackson, Taylor Williams, etc as the 7th/8th bullpen arm. Also a reminder that this trade would allow us to theoretically trade Arcia for pitching. He has enough team control that a team looking to retool quickly could have interest.
  4. Probably but the deal was structured to cut him after two years, basically. If he has a resurgence there might be a chance, but I would bet on him getting cut. I don't think they could do that this year with their TE group. I tend to agree here, especially if the rookie takes a few steps forward. Graham will either be cut if he's mediocre or worse...or traded if he's crazy good.
  5. Man, you were on fire until you forgot it was the Japanese, not the Germans...
  6. I think Story will do fine, in large part because he's actually a very good breaking ball hitter based on the eye test. I feel like I always see that guy smashing offspeed pitches for HR against us...whether at Coors or Miller Park. And he specifically mashes lefties, which would be good for any playoff matchups. I completely understand that pitching is a much greater need, and agree a Story trade is super unlikely. But it's certainly not a super unreasonable guy to discuss...and he would definitely improve the team. It would be similar to acquiring Machado last year, in that we'd all of a sudden have a lineup that is stacked 1-8. Cain Yelich Hiura Moose Story Grandal Braun Thames Imagine a world where Thames is hitting 8th and it isn't because he's badly slumping...but because the other 7 hitters are really friggin good.
  7. I've been wondering about the Rockies and selling. I'm sure Arenado would be super thrilled to sign a big extension and have the team sell hard during the last of his prime years.
  8. With a lot of teams off today, I could see activity start to finally heat up. Maybe 1 or 2 trades today. I still think most teams are going to use their EOD standing on the 28th to make a firm decision and the chips will really start falling at that point. Then again, with how these GMs like to posture...there may be radio silence and nobody starts really talking until 2-3 hours before the deadline.
  9. I agree with this alot, you don't want to make it too easy for Rodgers to stick with guys that are aging, familiar, and simply not as talented/explosive as the young talent. Gaining trust in the younger receivers is going to be critical to our success this year.
  10. I feel like Hader will probably be done after that inning. Threw too many pitches. We really could use 3 or 4 runs to make that decision easier.
  11. You don't want to send him with nobody out unless it's a 95+% chance of being safe. If 1 or 2 outs, maybe. Really unfortunate result in the Grandal AB though...it happens.
  12. Man, that really hurt not getting a run there. Thames hit it hard...right at the 2b unfortunately. That's easy 2 if it gets to the outfield.
  13. Did anyone else for a brief moment...think Moose was going to make the first out at homeplate?
  14. I've never seen them overturn a HBP before, regardless how obvious it was. So I find this call weird...
  15. I was just reading about it and looked through the box score. I really can't see what he screwed up and nobody seems to know what the stink was all about either. All umpires conferred on it and they called New York so I can't believe they actually got it wrong. What it was. Fair enough, I keep getting just busy enough at work that I can't punt 10 minutes into figuring it out...or at least I don't want to. I just naturally assume Hernandez making a mistake is most likely.
  16. Is anyone noticing what's happening in the Rays/Red Sox game? If not, take a look on twitter. It's super interesting. It seems like Angel Hernandez bungled a situation pretty badly.
  17. So nice to see any ump not turn it into a show. The game is not about them...and the umps are doing their job best when nobody even notices them. It's becoming more and more a pet peeve of mine seeing guys tossed out of games for trivial reasons.
  18. Ryan Braun: "Hold my Beer." For real...I'm pretty sure he swung at ball 4. I get it's lefty on lefty, but he might walk Thames too. No reason to try and hit ball 4 there.
