  1. Losing to the Cubs would be soooooo much more miserable comparatively than joyful for the Brewers to beat them. It's not even close, and isn't worth the risk. I don't really think any of those 3 teams would be specifically more or less difficult than the next. All 3 are similarly good, none of the 3 are nearly as good as the Dodgers or Braves.
  2. When the umps feel left out and want to make stuff up and stroke their egos, that's usually when a balk gets called.
  3. Is peguero unavailable? Or is someone that megill getting the 7th?
  4. I know everyone talks about enjoying watching turang play defense. My favorite is schwarber and it's not close. The only way this could get better is if he attempted a diving catch and had a classic schwarber-flop.
  5. I would agree it's a possibility. He'll also only be around a month, there's enough good veteran presence to regulate his nonsense if needed.. Also if he's performing well(which is the only way he comes up anyway) he'll probably naturally be less toxic and more positive.
  6. I think this is fine considering we'll send him to AAA as a test. If they even get a hint of toxicity from him while he's there, instant cut. He's been unlucky to a legendary degree from a batted ball profile standpoint. Hard to know if he'll be better than Monasterio or Anderson but it's worth taking a look basically for free with a test run in AAA.
  7. In 99+% of situations, I'd rather pitch to the tying run vs gift the tying run 1b and pitch to someone else. Maybe if Barry Bonds was the tying run I'd put him on, or if Owen Miller was due up not Santana.
  8. That was an extremely fitting way for a game to end. Must be nice to be a big market and have the umps on your side so often...
  9. Does this guy simply have zero respect for Santana? I don't understand throwing all frisbees out of the zone to Contreras there...
  10. We've got the right guys coming up. Put some pressure on Alzolay
  11. Up against a solid cubs team, the umpires, AND bad luck?!?!?
  12. Man it's fun to watch another team take an out on the contact play...
  13. Brewers having a nice inning here. Lots of pressure on the Cubs bullpen this inning. I feel pretty good about our chances with Canha against a pitcher with not super sharp command.
  14. The Cubs may not be able to position themselves to pitch those guys. They might need to win 162 and not have one of them available.
  15. I would have bet my paycheck that 3-2 pitch was going to be out of the zone...
  16. Thankfully Woodruff is keeping us in the game. Happ with a key hit after a walk that included 3 strikes and 1 ball...and a HBP one inch inside...is the difference in the game. Still 3 innings left to reset the game.
  17. I've always wondered why the Brewers don't lean over the plate a bit against Hendricks. Dare him to come inside. I'm sure he will sometimes, but that goes against the only thing he's good at which is throwing pitches just off the plate and consistently getting favorable calls.
  18. Hard to keep a good mental approach when the ump invariably is calling dozens of calls not in your favor...
  19. I think more people are pissed about the umpiring than doom and gloom about the Brewers so far today. We are playing better today. Fact. The umpiring and angle-shooting by Hoerner has given the Cubs the lead, fact. That said, the doom and gloom philosophy you described is lame as heck and not a fun fan to be around. It's the exact reason these threads are often not fun and completely unbearable.
  20. You've literally got to be kidding me this ump.....this is so incredibly bad
  21. I would be interested to see umpire scorecards just off what's happened so far. Probably at least 1 run of value given to the Cubs by this clown behind the plate. Can we swap him out with Angel Hernandez?
  22. Yelich with the wind at his back, medium deep in left, and he doesn't even try to make the throw?
  23. The ball is literally an inch inside, this game setting up to be st00pid
  24. This ump is a prick. Meanwhile Hendricks is going to flirt with the outside corner all day and probably get beneficial calls...
