  1. No. Not particularly close to being one either. It was definitely not a strike, but it really wasn't THAT far off the plate. Maybe an inch high and an inch or two inside.
  2. It’s the umpire’s discretion. He could deny Dietrich the HBP. Did anyone catch the behind the plate view of the 2nd HBP? He literally stuck his arm out to get hit. The umpires are completely useless, they can't even get the zone right...what makes you think they even notice him sticking his elbow out. I think a Tony LaRussa style lesson is in order.
  3. This absolutely looks like a loss on paper, kinda like the one yesterday. Gray has a 503 OPS against vs LHB and 762 against vs RHB. The last 2 years he's been a bit better against LHB than RHB. I'd like to see Aguilar get the start over Thames today with that said(or Pina at catcher with Grandal at 1b), but I'm sure it will be almost an identical lineup to the one yesterday.
  4. I'll also add that I highly highly doubt we become sellers. We'd have to fall to a few games below 500 by mid July to become sellers. We aren't playing well right now, but ebbs and flows...we'll get it back.
  5. Brew4U mostly nailed it in my opinion. Moustakas and Grandal would be the big obvious pieces. Team control guys we could consider moving include Davies, Arcia, Claudio, Aguilar, Guerra, and Gamel. 1 year guys we could probably get something for, or at least dump salary include Thames, Albers, GG, and Chacin. I would anticipate all the 1 year guys moving, along with maybe Guerra, Aguilar, and Davies if we can find buyers. I think all the rest stay put. I also think with Thames hitting pretty well right now, we might get more than you'd think. I think at this point, we could for sure get someone to take his entire salary and give us a small piece. I would normally argue he could get more, but there should be quite a few 1b available at the deadline so the market isn't ideal.
  6. I thought it was tough to imagine him in Milwaukee personally, but moreso related to his injury than performance. Considering how young he is, it probably makes more sense to keep him on a set routine in an environment where results aren't the only thing that matters. Maybe he could come up in September I guess when we have expanded rosters, but I think generally better to keep him in an environment where we can control his pitch counts a bit better while he works his way back.
  7. Just because we opened the season with 3 starting pitchers didn't necessarily mean our rotation was permanently set with those 3 SP. Nelson was due back, and there were FA available along with trades. Plenty of ways to add SP. And opening with 3 rookie SP allowed us to find a gem in Woodruff, who might be better than most arms we could potentially trade for. Also you can look and see that Nelson/Chacin have been just as bad as Peralta/Burnes as SP...while Woodruff is arguably the best SP on the staff this year. The SP has not been as good as we'd like it to be, but pointing at the 3 rookies as the reason is ridiculous.
  8. Bumgarner has been very mediocre this year. 3.87 ERA, 3.97 FIP and 4.07 xFIP...in one of the more pitcher friendly venues in baseball. I'll also add most of his road starts were in pitcher friendly environments as well if you look at his game log. His hard hit rate of 46.4% is 5% higher than last year, 11% higher than 2017, and 15% higher than any prior year. Overall, I would argue he's probably been a bit lucky this year...and who knows how much worse that would all be in a hitter friendly park. All that said, looking at his gamelog is basically a dream for this team. He's worked at least 6 innings all but 1 start(5.2 innings) and has allowed 5 runs twice, 4 runs twice, 3 runs four times, 2 runs four times, 1 run twice, and 0 runs once. None of his starts were those dreadful 2-3 innings of 5+ run baseball type starts that we get on occasion. If he pitched roughly like that for the Brewers, that's incredibly valuable.
  9. 116 pitches...I sure hope his arm isn't a bit less fresh than it should be. That would just be terrible. Gamel Yelich Braun/Cain Grandal Thames Perez Shaw Arcia P
  10. I agree. The Rodgers situation is a great point in not letting a Yelich type talent go for naught. Bucks in the same window with Giannis. These players come around so rarely and in markets like our even more so. You have to look at these situations in my view as all in. How do you go all in starting the season with three rookie starters? In my view this told you this was in part a developmental year. Then they sign Moose and Grandal. I am not sure how they feel but the frustration is real. I find this completely ridiculous. The Brewers are a team that has to get production from young players, we can't go sign Lester or Scherzer or whoever else and hope they pan out. I'm sure the FO found it likely that not all 3 would meet expectations and be mainstays in the rotation. But from throwing 3 against the wall as we did, we found one ready to go in Woodruff...and he's arguably our best starter right now. To say starting 3 rookie starters means it's a developmental year is just crazy. We opened the season that way, but obviously we were able to adapt as 2 didn't work out in the rotation at this moment...you're seeing the contingency plan of 2 of those 3 guys not working out in the rotation. It hasn't been ideal, but our SP is keeping us in games for the most part...and that should be good enough most of the time with this team.
  11. Ugh, come on Arcia. Lay off some pitches. How sweet woudl it have been to have Thames hitting in that spot with the bases loaded?
  12. And in comes Arcia, to swing at a slider off the plate first pitch. Man he had been so good at not swinging at that the first 2 months of the season.
  13. I would have been less impressed had he not hit 2 very well but foul. I'd like to see more of that from him We really need someone in the not hitting group to step up.
  14. Man, 2 well hit foul balls by Shaw. Straighten it out just a little bit big guy and it's a tie game.
  15. Yelich has 50 HR and 30 SB in play for this year...which has never been done. That would certainly be fun. Even with doing that he may not even win the NL MVP if Bellinger continues on his pace. Which would be crazy. MVP is for sure a 2 horse race in the NL. Nobody else is really that close to those 2 guys right now.
  16. Yelich has 50 HR and 30 SB in play for this year...which has never been done. That would certainly be fun.
  17. Dang Braun is feeling it. Screaming line drive caught at the warning track. Hit the ball a couple millimeters lower and that's 450 feet, tie game.
  18. This is not Davies day. CC should make a move sooner than later to try and stay in the game. Don't let Davies allow an XBH here and blow the game open.
  19. I look away for 2 seconds and Perez has an 0-2 count. Why is it this guy always seems to be 0-2?
  20. Machado doubled off the top of the wall, initially ruled a HR but changed to a double with Hosmer getting called out at 3b for being stupid. Then Renfroe popped out to keep it at 3-1. Cain reached, Yelich single, Braun double and it's 3-3.
