The A's seem to take more pitches just barely out of the zone than any team I've seen all year. They're the absolute epitome of a 3 outcome hitting team.
Watch Braun swing at 2 balls and the announces gush over him poking a pitch 4 inches outside up the line. It would have been ball 4 if he handed chased one earlier. So let's recap. I jest about Braun. You get defensive. I digress.
Yeah, but still, what were they waiting for last year? It's not like he was a future building block then when they could have gotten something for him.
I'd bring up Freitas who's been tearing the cover off the ball and play him or Grandal at 1B vs. lefties. Let's see if they don't use Faria to get a more established starter or now use Houser for that purpose. That's a good option, but better is use Braun as the RH half of the 1B platoon. Then call up Grisham to be the everyday LF and lead off man. Do it today. Player control is power. I'm not interested in starting Grisham's clock until the cutoff point next year and gladly take 3.5 years of cheap Grisham if he breaks out into stardom as many here are predicting.
Serious question. I've been a follower of Brewer affiliate baseball for over 20 years and I don't ever remember a prospect ever being this hot over a 2+ month stretch. Am I missing someone?
My guess is that the Reds are not done yet for next season. I bet they make several more deals either at this deadline, or during the offseason that propel them into contention for the Central next year... They might as well go all in since no one else seems to want it. When did Doug Melvin take over as GM of the Reds?
Hell, they might be better than the Brewers... Bauer - Castillo - Gray is light years ahead of what we are throwing out there right now. That may be light years ahead of anything we've thrown out in the last 30 years.
Rostering Puig and Bauer in one season? If nothing else, the Reds continue to prove that they're more than willing to take on the rest of the league's "crazy."
I saw on the Prospects1500 listing in the top 25 voting thread that Caden Lemons supposedly had Tommy John surgery. Has that been confirmed here? That was the first I'd seen it.
