  1. Like political polls, maybe this can put a permanent end to the trade value charts once and for all.
  2. From the standpoint of someone that studied science and specifically biology/physiology, there are so many things that are wrong with this post I don't even know where to begin. This is how misinformation spreads.
  3. Using 2020 as some sort of reliable data point to make a decision is absolutely absurd and in my mind immediately kills any modicum of credibility you may have had in initiating the discusion. That said, and as Brew4U noted, now list the players he's worked with in those years. When you're done doing that, let's talk about your expectations for those players coming into the season vs where they landed since results are all you use. Talk about the very definition of expecting chicken salad out of chicken Sh--.
  4. So I'd like to know how those on here who clamor for a new hitting coach every 2 years evaluate that coach's impact. Any rational person understands that impact is measured by more than objective results. What are the intangibles you all are looking for in a hitting coach?
  5. Great thought, bad real world point as this can pretty much be said about every single franchise in baseball.
  6. I believe the thinking was that they needed a guy like a Renteria who could takes some bullets, shephard the franchise through tough times and is good with young players and development. Now, they need a guy that can take the thing next level. I would think AJ Hinch would be the logical choice assuming they believe the dust has settled there.
  7. Lucas Giolito.
  8. Braun's having a nice year. Gyorko too. Yelich and Hiura are still a long ways off from what their normal should be. Curious on what Hiura's normal "should be." Lots of people annointing him as an All Star level player here, very little evidence to support it both in the field and at the dish.
  9. Maybe it's a leap of faith, and maybe it's an organizational shortcoming. Neither of us know. But we do know that Aguilar is employed and productive and Faria isn't. And given a chance to do it all over again, based on what they have produced, none of us would want the Faria side of the trade. Congratulations on evaluating a trade after the fact. My instincts tell me I'd be pretty good at that as well a year later.
  10. It's funny. I could go back and find posts from 30 days ago where posters here were feeling really good about the Urias acquisition, labeling him a potential superstar and while I'm not counting him out just yet, that alone should be a lesson for the flavor of the week crowd.
  11. Right ... basically a nothing for nothing deal. I was hopeful on Faria, and he did show some promise last year in his few opportunities, but was never consistent enough to break through. Not sure I agree with that. Aguilar is an everyday player on a playoff team, and a wRC+ higher than anyone on the Brewers. The Brewers couldn't unlock it, but it was within Aguilar all along. They traded him for a player who produced no value. If we celebrate when a trade works in the Brewers favor, don't we have to acknowledge when it doesn't? Really? That's a leap of faith. Two teams couldn't unlock it and that being said, Aguilar has always been a first half hitter, anyway. I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say that Aguilar is even a solid regular in anything but a 60 game season. To me, he's a short spurt player who gets exposed the more he plays. He can't sustain over 162. Lucky for him, he won't have to this year and maybe gets paid because of it next year.
  12. Maybe but there's been an awful lot of love for Urias on this site and the more you just look at the numbers, the more you realize they're pretty much the same player offensively with a major advantage to Arcia defensively. But he is 3 years younger then Arcia and had a better hitting profile in the minors. And still Arcia was more highly ranked and thought of by the evaluators. And as I type this, there goes a bomb!

  14. You'd rather play to win right now with this team? I'd rather pile up bodies in the minors and hope to hit on one down the line. Plus, presumably if we picked up a 'bench bat' right now and he went 1/11 to start then we'd all deem the guy to suck and the trade horrible. You play to win the game. NEVER sacrifice the now for the uncertainty of the future. That will always get you no where. Doug Melvin? Is that you, Doug?
  15. If you truly believe that's true, than you're basically stating that 'most of us' are racist/bigoted/etc. and choose to belittle marginalized people as a result. I truly don't think that's accurate on a 'most of us' level, regardless of how negatively we can perhaps view society as a whole right now. Thom Brennaman used a bigoted word and it seems because of that, you're making the leap that he must be a bigot if you assume his character is not like others here. You don't know the man. While they won't admit it, I'd be willing to bet that 80% (and I'm thinking that may be conservative) of posters here have used the same word he used on the telecast at some point in their lives. Are they all bigots and of poor character because of it? Based on your post, the answer seems to be yes. Sorry, I disagree and it's reallly not your position to be making assesments on anyone's character beyond your own or your kids. Heard the old "glass houses" line? Careful, it never takes much digging to turn up a few skeletons on the 'holier than thou' crowd.
  16. Give me a break. Ok. Lets hear your justification for why homophobic comments in the workplace are not a fireable offense. Because Anti-Semetic comments are apparently not a problem in the NFL? See DeSean Jackson. I'm not defending what TB did and personally think it's despicable, just answering your question. There's a precedent that has been set in that league for these type of things although I guess it could be argued that TB works for the network.
  17. Visit a Brewerfan gameday thread. 95% there think BA and Rock stink and will tell you this isn't true.
  18. Do you just post because you think you're on to something? Let me burst your bubble. He hasn't allowed a run this year. What are you basing this nonsense on? If anything, looks like he's more dominant at 92-93 with an improved slider.
  19. One of the absolute biggest meltdowns I've ever seen on this site that day. To be fair, that trade was a bit of a head scratcher. Not that we traded Lee but for what the content of the trade was. No doubt. Still amazing that someone on planet Earth thought Shrek could play baseball.
  20. Off of what are we basing Hiura being a "star offensive player?" I guess he had a nice half season while striking out 35% of the time but so have over half of major league ball players. Personally, I need more of a sample size before I'm going that far. He has completely raked every season he has played baseball except for the 21 games this season? #WOAH SOLVDD
