  1. Uecker started his call on Wiemer’s HR with “It’s a bouncer…”
  2. I tried to synch the audio with the Brewers radio broadcast, but the feed was unbearably choppy. Anyone else have this problem.
  3. It was a brief respite, but I was giving them credit for scoring 5 runs last night with only 2 on a HR. That was an aberration.
  4. If you are what your record says you are, the Brewers have been exceptionally mediocre for more than a full season’s worth of games.
  5. One hit in the last 7 innings. It’s been a treacherous downhill climb, but the Brewers finally made it to .500.
  6. Maybe, maybe not. Especially on that first one the way the ball rocketed off the concrete I’m not sure Wiemer would have given up on it soon enough to play it cleanly. Wiemer has had some issues too on balls hit directly at him or directly over his head and might not have caught the next one.
  7. I should have known that saying anything critical about the Cardinals would trigger an outburst from them. Never again. They are the clear favorites to win the division.
  8. When the outfielders are being asked to make running catches up against the wall, that isn’t a good sign. Looks like the Brewers HR or nothing, shut down the offense after a couple of early runs attack is back on display.
  9. See my edit. Earlier in the game I paused the telecast for about 5 minutes because I got a phone call. Then I resumed it and forgot that I was behind the live action. I came here to comment on Yelich’s catch and the first ball off the wall (which he obviously had no chance to catch) was the only one I had seen. I can’t get too excited about that one because when a ball bounces off concrete you’d have to give up on it pretty early to play it cleanly off the wall.
  10. Did he do something else in addition letting the ball hit off the wall to get past him? Never mind. I forgot that I had paused the game briefly awhile ago and was a little behind.
  11. I think Yelich has always been pretty good at running down balls in the outfield, but his weak arm gets a lot of attention.
  12. On a happier note, the Giants jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Cardinals in the first inning. If the Giants complete that sweep today I wouldn't be surprised if the Cardinals tell Marmol not to bother getting on the flight to New York.
  13. Just cut and paste this and you’ll be set most days.
  14. The resistible force succumbed to the moveable object. The fact that Yelich has been a productive hitter since the end of April (OPS .880) has been largely overlooked. Maybe not 2019 good, but still very good.
  15. Saying that everyone is underperforming or blowing up simultaneously is a gross exaggeration. First, despite last night’s game, the team’s biggest problem is the offense, which has not really had an excessive number of impactful injuries. The big underperformers there are Adames and Tellez, but pretty much everyone else is doing about what should have been expected considering inexperience or injuries from previous seasons (see Winker). I don’t believe that a lot more at bats from Urias, Mitchell, or Frelick would have made a significant difference. Urias’ injury likely opened up more ABs for Miller, who has been one of the team’s best hitters. I seem to recall some posters saying before he was hurt that Mitchell should be sent down because of his high strikeout rate. And who knows what Frelick will do in his first shot in the big leagues. The risk that this offense would be bad was pretty high, and I don’t think Counsell is to blame for that. Blame the hitting coaches if you want, but they haven’t been given a lot to work with.
  16. So, is it the manager’s fault that the players aren’t performing.?
  17. Maybe some people have unrealistic expectations for the players.
  18. Yelich was bad in April, but since then he has been Marlins/first half of 2018 Brewers Yelich. My standard for Yelich is an OPS of .800+ and he has done that over the last 6 weeks or so.
  19. I think Schroeder is right that Anderson lost that ball in the sun for a second and that caused him to get a bad jump on it.
  20. I really only disliked the Twins when they played at the Metrodome. That abomination gave them a huge home field advantage because it was good for a couple of balls lost in the ceiling each series.
  21. Adames looks terrible at the plate. It looks like he is just feeling for the ball instead of swinging at it. It looks like Counsell wants to give Singleton a trial by giving him regular ABs for a couple of weeks. If he doesn’t produce he will be a prime candidate for a DFA.
