  1. No, it’s just an observation and opinion. When a player who has been out as long as he has goes down writhing in pain while warming up to come into a game it looks like he’ll be out for awhile. With only two months left in the season I would doubt that he will have time to recover and rehab.
  2. Look, out for the Cubs. Tauchman pulled what would have been a game winning homer for the Cardinals back in and the Cubs hot streak continues.
  3. Not nearly as bad as the Brewers may be the understatement of the year. The Brewers are currently 14th in the NL in runs per game, and have scored just 1 run more than the Marlins. The 5 World Champion Cardinals and Giants teams you mentioned were: 06 Cardinals 6th 10 Giants- 9th 11 Cardinals- 1st 12 Giants- 6th 14 Giants- 5th So, 4 of those 5 teams were above league average in offense and the fifth was barely below league average in R/G.
  4. One disappointing thing here is that the Braves have lost 6 of their last 7 games against teams other than the Brewers (White Sox, DBacks, and Red Sox. With Strider missing both series this would seem to be a good time to be facing them, but the Brewers haven’t been able to take advantage.
  5. Looks, like Justin Wilson is done for the season.
  6. I don’t think swapping Frelick and Adames would make much, if any, difference as long as Adames keeps hitting the way he has been.
  7. I’m usually one who thinks discussion about the batting order is overdone because it generally doesn’t make a lot of difference as long as your better hitters are near the top so they get as many ABs as possible. But, I really feel like batting Frelick first instead of fourth makes more sense. His HR notwithstanding, my impression is that Frelick’s strength is going to be more getting on base than hitting for power and XBHs. I think it’s as simple as thinking that I’d rather have Yelich up with Frelick on first than the other way around because of Yelich’s greater XBH potential. So, put Frelick first and Yelich second and hope at least one of them gets on base.
  8. Guess I haven’t followed Bush’s exploits since he went on the IL after that fateful night in Pittsburgh.
  9. I like the deal, but the Brewers should have thrown in Matt Bush, in hopes that the Pirates would use him against Santana.
  10. I suspect the shuttle will still be in heavy use to fill the bullpen.
  11. Big win in the last “”two game swing” game of the season with the Reds. When I saw Mejia throwing next to Williams after Montaserio’s RBI double, I was actually hoping Miller wouldn’t drive in the run. Especially with a day off tomorrow I’d rather see Williams with a 3 run lead and some margin for error over Mejia with a 4 run lead.
  12. Not anywhere near as many times as the hitter can’t get the ball out of the infield. If only they hadn’t used the contact play Adames could have had two men in scoring position when he struck out.
  13. I would add a third guarantee: C. if Monasterio had been held, and Jones struck out, a lot of the same people criticizing the send would be saying “Had to send Monasterio”
  14. After he delivered a hit last night it might have been good to send a lefty up there.
  15. If nothing else it was fun knowing that Reds fans were crapping bricks at the end.
  16. Facts are facts. Abbott has been excellent against the Brewers.
  17. Good opportunity to rest the back end of the bullpen.
  18. Don’’t see what’s negative about pointing out that Abbott has had two excellent starts against the Brewers, making stats based on 16 innings quite misleading.
  19. I predict a rout for the Brewers I have Abbott on my fantasy team and my opponent has Burnes and the way my pitchers have been lately 6 runs in 3 innings would be about par for the course (following the lead of Darvish last night and Webb on Saturday).
  20. So, you disagree with me. Got it. If the OP is bothered by my response, I’m sure he can raise it himself.
  21. I thought I explained both in the original message and in the reply to you why I find that stement to be potentially misleading. But, if you disagree or don’t get it, that’s OK.
  22. I understand that you like to pick out my comments and nitpick on them whenever possible. This one is especially humorous. I never said that the comment was literally, factually inaccurate, I was just pointing out that in Abbott’s 3 starts against the Brewers he has been very effective in two of them. It’s not like the Brewers have beaten him around each and every time he has faced them, which someone who didn’t know about the other starts might have inferred. I laid out the facts and people can decide for themselves how significant that is. Maybe they would agree that a more complete summary of Abbott’s record would have been “Except for the one start against the Brewers at AFF Abbott has been lights out every time out, including his 2 other starts against the Brewers.”
  23. I’m a little amused by the comment that Abbott has been lights out about anyone but Milwaukee. He hasn’t exactly been bad against the Brewers either, shutting them out for 6 innings on one hit in his debut and allowing only two solo home runs, and one other hit in six innings in another outing. So, he has had two very solid quality starts against the Brewers and a third one where the Brewers got to him for 6 runs. It’s an oddity that this will be his fourth start against the Brewers in only his 10th MLB start. He hasn’t faced any other team more than once. If facing Abbott, multiple times, gives the Brewers an advantage, it didn’t show in his latest outing against them.
