  1. Someone thought yesterday that Burnes was an All Star candidate?
  2. Can find other plans for this evening now.
  3. No doubt they have to play a whole lot better.
  4. If you want to talk about context, you also have to consider that the bar for making the playoffs is much lower than it was in 2011, especially in the very mediocre NL Central. Even at 14 games below .500 they are only 8.5 games out of the division lead with 90 games to play. Climbing over 4 teams isn’t that daunting either when there is no indication that, unless the Reds do it, any of the teams above them are going to move much above .500. It’s not like they have to win 15-20 in a row like they did to claim a playoff spot in 2021.
  5. I wouldn’t be so sure about Yelich. But these days so much depends on how many players pass on attending. I think Williams is a no brainer, especially because the ASG has evolved into a parade of closers to guarantee that there will be very little hitting.
  6. Needed the sweep to keep pace with the Red Hot Reds.
  7. I started the comments about Urias and I never said send hIm to the minors or trade him. My point has been that expecting him to have a significant impact on a dreadful offense was a pipe dream. P
  8. I went out to get the grill started and the Brewers add 3 more runs. Happy Fathers Day.
  9. Another awful throw from the Pirates OF helps the Brewers. Something anywhere near the plate would have had him.
  10. What a rag arm in LF. Yelich wasn’t even at third yet when Joe fielded that, and he wasn’t that deep.
  11. I remember when Urias’ return was going to help the offense. Instead he’s making Turang look good.
  12. Anderson said that Miller has cooled off a little bit. An OPS of .486 in June (coming into today) is more than a little cool.
  13. He could consider trying to make solid contact or hitting to the opposite field instead of pulling off everything trying to put the ball into orbit.
  14. The A’s didn’t have a problem with it.
  15. I almost choked on my drink when Anderson said the Brewers were in the “heart” of their order. I also had to laugh when he encouraged folks to buy tickets for the DBacks series because they are an exciting team that’s fun to watch. In other words, something you usually don’t see at a Brewers game.
  16. I’m tired of hearing how great Peralta’s “stuff” is At some point results are all that matter.
  17. Not too different than the non competitive pitches after going 0-2 on the next hitter. He was fortunate that the 3-2 pitch tickled the edge of the strike zone and the umpire didn’t squeeze him.
  18. Not too different than the non competitive pitches after going 0-2 on the next hitter. He was fortunate that the 3-2 pitch tickled the edge of the strike zone and the umpire didn’t squeeze him.
  19. If there’s an MLB team with a worse 2-3-4 in their batting order than the Brewers have had the last 2 days I’d like to see it. And it isn’t like there are any injured players that would or should be filling those spots.
  20. OK, that sounds about right if there are no setbacks.
  21. What do you consider “soon” for Woodruff? If he’s just starting to throw off the mound in a bullpen session he won’t be back pitching for the Brewers until some time after the All Star break at the earliest.
  22. Haven’t the Reds been stockpiling young talent as they dismantled the team that faded in 2021? I though they were expected to be competitive by 2024, and with the awful division they are contending ahead of schedule.
  23. I’m pretty sure that Yelich has only batted cleanup against LH starters. I like Yelich batting leadoff too but at this point he would probably be their best choice batting anywhere from first through fourth on a team full of hitters that should be hitting 8th or 9th the way they have been hitting for the last month or so. Only Contreras should be up higher. I wouldn’t take Yelich’s results in that small number of PAs as a sign that he hits worse in the 3 or 4 spots or that the team would be better off with him batting first all the time. As long as some of the players that were expected to be run producers (Adames, Tellez, Winker) are OPSing in the .500 range as they have been for extended periods, you’re not going to score many runs. It doesn’t matter where in the order the solo HRs come from. Last night was a good win, but hardly a show of offensive strength with Hill’s first inning wildness being the main ingredient.
  24. As long as you don’t have to rely on him to tell you what’s happening.
  25. Monasterio had his moments but he’s not a solution for anything.
