  1. Peralta gets a call to end the inning. ETA: I guess that’s just where the bottom of the strike zone is going to be tonight.
  2. Good win. Good series. Only negative is that the bullpen will be somewhat stressed going into the Pirates series.
  3. Good grief. My picture froze just as Adames was fielding a grounder, and when it came back on it was 2-0.
  4. Saw something this afternoon that you don’t see too often. In the top of the 10th with two outs, Jose Ramirez flat stole home by getting a big jump on a LHP. He was called out, but was clearly safe and the call was reversed onreview. Ramirez’s bold dash was to no avail as the Royals won in the last of the 10th.
  5. I also think you have to consider that Arcia is surrounded by one of the best, and arguably the best, lineups in MLB. Even with an OPS near .800 he is one of the “weaker” inks in the batting order. So, IMHO he’s getting a lot more good pitches to hit when he’s followed by Acuna, Albies, and Olson than if he was dropped into the middle of the Brewers lineup.
  6. Hopefully, but you never know for sure. Sometimes players don’t want to come out and will try to tough it out. Remember Mitchell going back out after his shoulder injury and then realizing he couldn’t throw. Wiemer got hit in his left hand so he could easily run the bases and play in the field even with a finger or hand injury that would make it difficult or impossible to hold a bat properly
  7. I don’t think Wiemer swung. He started to swing, but was holding up. Getting hit in the hand caused him to let go of the bat. I just hope Wiemer is OK. That pitch had season ending broken hand potential.
  8. You’ve got a long wait. Might as well get used to it.
  9. The Braves tonight have 5 HRs and a triple from their first 10 hitters.
  10. “A little bit of a rally killer”. Ya think?
  11. Is there a rain delay? I turned on the game and they were showing a replay of last night’s first inning.
  12. Peterson is one of the few LHP starters that the Brewers have roughed up this year. They got him for 5 runs in 4 IP in that opening series at AFF.
  13. I’m not aware of a chart that presents this for all teams in one chart. But they do have a chart for each team individually that shows how many times they have scored anything in each inning and then how many times they have scored a certain number of runs. For the Brewers, they have scored something in 167 of 682 innings or 24.4%. For comparison, the Reds have scored in 222 of 694 innings, or 32%. If you had the patience you could do this for each team. All of the teams in MLB combined have scored in 5803 of 20,761 innings or 28%.
  14. These things are very easy to find on the Baseball Reference site as long as you know where to look. They have tables showing how many times a team has scored or allowed a certain number of runs, and what their record is in those games.
  15. That mantra has been around for longer than 45 years, but once Bill James and the sabermateicians came along it has been debunked. But that doesn’t stop some from saying it. The high level refutation is that the playoffs usually feature better pitchers on a regular basis than during the regular season, so scoring is lower. But having better hitting gives teams a better chance to put up a few runs against that superior pitching. When anyone has tried to establish whether pitching or hitting wins championships, they usually conclude that it’s inconclusive either way. If this Brewers team as currently constructed were to make the playoffs, the most likely result would be something similar to 2020 and 2021.
  16. Adames is coming around. In his last 4 games he’s 4 for 17 with 2 HR and 5 RBI.
  17. They did put him up in the order for a few days when he had the hot streak and he struggled there. I don’t think you want to put him in a spot where he feels even more pressure to produce.
  18. Thank goodness Alonso didn’t get any elevation on that one.
  19. Apparently the key is keeping runners out of scoring position.
  20. Really hard to score runs when your 3 through 6 hitters are in in huge slumps.
  21. Tough inning for Contreras. Fortunate strike 3 call to mercifully end that ugly inning.
