  1. Adames has had a tough series. A lot of really bad swings. Yelich has had an abysmal series.
  2. So, Mets pitchers other than the good one. They didn’t face deGrom or Bassitt.
  3. These deadline acquisitions sure have “anchored” the bullpen.
  4. It’s a pretty typical performance against a pitcher with a pulse.
  5. That was a pleasantly dull game. The Reds are really bad right now so the Brewers have to find a way to get some runs off Lodolo tomorrow to complete the sweep.
  6. Maybe another day for Burnes to post a zero. BTW, for Renfroe supposedly having a great arm, he sure seems to make a lot of weak and/or way off target throws.
  7. I hope he gets 700 this weekend so we are spared the indignity of him getting it here. Maybe they’ll sit him out and hope he can get it at home.
  8. I didn’t say they weren’t significant. But injuries to pitchers like DeGrom, Scherzer, Carrasco, Wheeler, Flaherty, etc. were significant too. And what about teams losing impact offensive players for extended times? The Brewers were extremely fortunate with pitchers health last year. It was unlikely that that was going to be repeated this year. Injuries affected the Brewers and almost every other team this year. The Brewers didn’t have the depth or talent to overcome theirs.
  9. Most teams have had a lot of pitching injuries. The teams that are going to the playoffs had depth and offenses to overcome them. Even with the injuries, the number of games the Brewers lost to the Cubs and Pirates was inexcusable.
  10. Swinging and missing at a pitch that hits you is pretty embarrassing.
  11. The 78 and 79 Brewers were two of the franchise’s best and most entertaining teams in an era when half of the teams in the league weren’t tanking. They won 93 and 95 games. Unfortunately they only allowed one team from each division into the playoffs and the Orioles, Red Sox, Yankees, and Tigers all had good teams too.
  12. The Cubs and Pirates had a lot more to do with the Brewers situation than the Braves.
  13. Someone just checking on this thread might think the game was in a rain delay so a discussion about Hiura broke out. Meanwhile the Phillies have increased their lead to 7-0. If they win tonight and win one more over the weekend, it will be getting close to the point where winning out might not be good enough for the Brewers.
  14. Renfroe has had a couple of scorching hot streaks, but when he goes into a slump he looks totally lost.
  15. Looks like they’re facing a crappy pitcher for the Brewers. Lauer is angling for the Jason Alexander award for worst start of the week.
  16. The risks of rushing an injured pitcher back with no rehab.
  17. It always makes me nervous to not use the closer to start the 9th with a 4 run lead when he hasn’t pitched for awhile. If the guy you bring in can’t get anyone out you can’t bring the closer in until the tying run is at the plate.
  18. The Cardinals are now four innings into their 5th game without scoring a run in regulation. They won 1-0 in 11 innings on Saturday, followed that up with 3 straight shutouts, and are trailing 2-0 in the 4th today. Related to that, the Padres have gone through their whole rotation without a starter giving up a run
  19. OK. I’m sure it’s pure coincidence that I’ve never seen you post “Let’s Go Corbin” or much of anything else that isn’t followed by a rhyme.
  20. I think the Brewers have to gain at least one game, if not two or more, this weekend to have a realistic chance of passing the Phillies. Although the Phils have 10 road games remaining after this weekend, the first 7 of those games are against the Cubs and Nats. Those aren’t teams you want to be looking to for help. The last 3 are against the Astros who are going to be more interested in getting ready for the playoffs than going all out for wins. If the Brewers don’t gain a game this weekend, the Phils magic number to eliminate them would be down to 7, and they could make a big dent in that in their games against the Cubs and Nats. The Brewers would almost have to win out to put pressure on them.
