  1. If the Brewers can go out in 3 minutes every inning and the Cardinals lose interest in piling on, the game might be over in 3 hours. But, I won’t be watching unless and until I see that it’s gotten closer.
  2. Counsell is already looking disgustedly at his lineup card and trying to figure out what 6 relievers and position players he’s going to use to cover the last 8 innings. Cards are headed for double digits tonight.
  3. All it’s going to take is 8 scoreless innings (mostly from the bullpen) and for the Brewers offense to hit its maximum run production of 5.
  4. He is the best. If you watch games on MLB TV or Extra Innings and hear some of the other announcers, Anderson really stands out. There are several other good ones, but there also some that are shameless screaming homers.
  5. It would have to be Suter because Ashby is scheduled to start Sunday.
  6. You can’t judge the attendance from pictures of the seats. At any given time there are literally thousands of people out getting concessions, including people who never go to their seats and spend the whole game in the various bar areas around the park.
  7. Now that the Brewers have 4 runs on the board and Woodruff is at 70 pitches through 4 innings (thanks ump for adding several unnecessary high stress pitches), I’m starting to wonder who is going to try to cover the last 3 or 4 innings today.
  8. What a rag arm in left field. Yelich was just approaching third when that bullet reached the fielder and there wasn’t even a play at the plate.
  9. That was no free out with Edman running. A fast runner bunting for a hit is not the same as a pure sacrifice.
  10. I posted after the first one. That was ridiculous. I guess you have to be 40 years old to get a call.
  11. Brutal missed call keeps Goldschmidt alive. Try comparing that pitch to the two he called Yelich and Cain out on.
  12. The Cardinals are probably going to protest that the sun went behind a cloud while Narvaez was hitting making that HR possible.
  13. The weather was good in Baltimore and the Brewers offense was pretty terrible. A shutout on Monday, 5 runs on Tuesday (3 of them courtesy of the Orioles defense), and 2 runs on 4 hits yesterday until the ninth inning explosion that won the game. 3 runs per game isn’t going to get very far and now they are facing a better team than in the first two series. It’s going to take more than 3 runs per game to take more than one game in this series.
  14. Seems to me that Yelich neither chases nor swings at pitches in the strike zone early in the count. My concern with him is not that he chases bad pitches but that he watches or fails to drive hittable pitches in the strike zone.
  15. If the Brewers are fortunate enough to score a few runs and take a lead into the late innings, I wonder who will be called on in the late innings. Both Williams and Hader were down on their velocity yesterday which might reflect pitching 3 times in 4 days without a lot of game action in spring training. I assume they will both be unavailable today, Might need Suter, Cousins, and Gott to get to the finish line today if an opportunity presents itself.
  16. There’s more than one humiliating home series against the Cardinals branded into my brain.
  17. Huge to escape with that win. Letting that one get away would have felt like two losses. Lose a game and burn out the top of the bullpen for tomorrow to boot. Now see if they can win at least two from the Cards. Don’t want to see a replay of that series last September.
  18. You would have loved todays Mets- Phillies game. A 9 inning game that took over 4 hours.
  19. Hate to see the Brewers going into the Cardinals series with Williams and Hader likely unavailable for the first game.
  20. The original schedule had this game starting at 6:40, the usual weeknight starting time early in the season.
  21. I am not regretting my pledge not to watch Williams. My doctor advised me against watching him.
  22. Right. ERA is meant to measure the pitcher as a pitcher, not as a fielder.
  23. There’s Yelich’s first really hard hit ball of the season with any elevation on it.
  24. A couple more gift runs. Not only the bad throw, but the Orioles not challenging that play at first.
