  1. Good to see Gott and Boxberger restore some order to the game. Now let Williams and Hader get an inning in and call it a day. Because he hasn’t pitched in over a week I’d like to see Hader have a little cushion when he comes in.
  2. You aren’t necessarily wrong. It was a dangerous decision regardless, especially considering Moran’s history against Houser.
  3. This is a game thread so I’m focusing on the game.
  4. But letting him pitch to Moran is really playing with fire.
  5. Might want to pause the celebration and back patting and get back to trying to win this game.
  6. This isn’t right. The Brewers are 17-8 so this is their 26th game. Coming into today every team in MLB has played between 23 and 27 games.
  7. I have to pull out what Mr. Applegate (the devil) said to Lola in the old musical “Damn Yankees” and have you repeat it 100 times: ”Never Feel Sorry for Anybody”, “Never Feel Sorry for Anybody”…
  8. Maybe they are being spotted on the installment plan.
  9. A reminder that many major league hitters can hit straight fastballs when they are looking for them.
  10. I don’t care who the opponent is, giving up 3 runs in the first inning is not ideal.
  11. Those of us who are old enough to have seen it when it first came out will never forget our reaction to the “I am your father” moment. Not to mention first learning who Yoda was and the other classic moments in that movie.
  12. They had Andrew Cutchrissian. I only saw 3 or 4 of them but my favorite was Obi Wong Kenobi. I didn’t see all of the telecast though because I was watching Empire Strikes Back on a Group Watch with 2 of my daughters while keeping one eye on the Brewers.
  13. My target is first half of 2018 with the Brewers because I know how that looked as opposed to just numbers with the Marlins. On Saturday I was just as excited about his solid singles to center and left center as the home run because that’s what I remember about those 3 months. Spraying a lot of hits and enough HRs to be on pace for the low 20’s. I think he’s had more solid hits in the last 10 days than he has had in any 10 day stretch since 2019. So, he’s getting closer. I’d still like to see him string a few games together where he avoids multiple strikeouts and weak grounders to the right side.
  14. Whoever predicted yesterday that Adames would get his first off day of the season on Thursday afternoon might be right on two counts.
  15. Don’t need good hitters if they can stand there and get rewarded for looking at strike 3 and strike 4.
  16. Going to be a long night if those pitches aren’t strikes.
  17. Gutierrez has had a rough time in his 4 starts so far this year. But he was very tough in his 3 starts against the Brewers last season, all games the Reds won.
  18. Not surprised. If he were fully healthy he would have been in in the ninth.
  19. I totally agree about managing for stats. But, there can be a fine line between saving him and letting him get rusty by going too long in between appearances. If he’s OK and Counsell just decided to rest him for another day, that’s fine. But when I see Hader not coming in in a save situation when he hasn’t pitched in 5 days it makes me wonder.
  20. Yeah, I haven’t had the sound on for the whole game and expected to see Hader enter in a save situation since he hasn’t appeared now for almost a week.
  21. Holy Moley. I hadn’t looked at a schedule calendar since it was redone to reflect the delayed start, but what an opportunity for a strong finish. Throw in there that the 12 games before that are 3 game series against the Cubs and Pirates at home and then the DBacks and Rockies on the road and that’s a pretty inviting last quarter of the season. The six game home stand against the Yankees and Mets, the 4 games against the Cardinals, and the doubleheader against the Giants are the only 12 of the 39 games that figure to be against playoff contenders unless someone (the Marlins?) pulls a major surprise.
