That is huge getting through the top of the order for the third time with no damage. Goldschmidt and Arenado make me nervous.

Only 68 pitches for Hauser. He’s now in bonus inning range. Would be great if he can get one more.

He’s recovering from a hamstring injury. I think Adames injury might have kept him from going to third on Yelich’s grounder to right too.

Garcia still out tonight. Between that and Maile catching the lineup is less than the Brewers best. Hope they can do more with Kim than the last time they faced him and that Houser can keep them in the game.

Ah, that didn’t come through just looking at a play by play summary. When I see relievers removed after being ineffective and/or throwing a lot of pitches I just figure they’ve had enough. I guess Bettinger and maybe Gustave will be back soon to fill innings.

I stopped watching in the third inning. Who got hurt tonight? Are you counting Garcia? Did Yelich leave because he was hurt, not ejected?

This isn’t really the night to be poking fun at other teams’ pitchers for giving up gopher balls. They just said that the Tigers have hit 3 or more HRs 4 games in a row. They pounded out quite a few in that one game at AFF too. Let me guess, the Reds have a better pitching staff than the Brewers too? It’s so weird how much of a Reds apologist (fan) you’ve been this season. You really are a one trick pony aren’t you? It's weird to me that you are so obsessed with a couple of comments that I made in June and early July after the Reds won 3 straight from the Brewers at AFF (twice) that you have to lie about when I made them. And that you can look at all of the posts I have made this season and conclude that I'm a Reds fan. If you think those attacks make me look bad, you might be looking in the wrong direction. It was my understanding that your ad hominem comments were against the rules of this forum, but I’ll leave it to the moderators to decide that. FYI, the comment that triggered your response was simply based on the fact that the Brewers have given up more HRs than the Reds tonight.

My guess is that they intended to bring Ashby in tonight no matter what to let him throw a few innings and then start next Wednesday. I don’t know why they didn’t bring him in in the third unless they wanted him to have more time to get ready, like a starter would warm up. But I don’t think he is being wasted tonight because he wasn’t going to be used any closer to Wednesday anyway.

We’ll see if Freddy makes three at this point. That’s where the “depending on how efficient he is” comes in. 24 pitches in the first inning, including a gopher ball, points to a short outing.

So, what’s the expectation for Peralta tonight? 4 or 5 innings depending on how efficient he is and then Ashby or Suter for a couple?

There was just a play in the Pirates-Cubs game that, coming on the heels of the call in yesterday’s Brewers game, reinforces what I hate about MLB replay. The out call came on a play at the plate with a throw from the 1B. The throw was in time to beat the runner, but the catcher made the tag very high and it looked live like the runner clearly got his foot to the plate before the tag was applied. Replays seemed to bear that out and the Pirates announcers were very surprised that the call was upheld. The only possible question would be whether the sliding runner’s foot literally touched the plate as opposed to being a fraction of an inch above it. Compared to yesterday’s call, this replay was much closer to being conclusive, but this call was upheld. The inconsistency in how this standard is applied aggravates me all the time.

I wish the Brewers had just fallen behind 6-1 early in the game instead of having a game potentially decided by a dubious replay overturn.

I never have confidence in how the “definitive proof” standard is applied.
