  1. The Brewers are going to be seeing a lot of left handed middle relievers with this lineup, not that Yelich cares these days.
  2. Maybe he was just due for a slump, but I hated it when Aguilar went into the HR Derby. Too many players seem to struggle after doing that.
  3. Good to see Arcia at least make solid contact. Was that a horrible, hanging 0-2 meatball from Melancon after a similar mistake to Kratz.
  4. It’s always fun hearing fans who idolized Barry Bonds boo and heckle Braun.
  5. Just look at where Arcia’s feet are after he flails away and you can see he will not be able to hit major league pitching except by accident.
  6. Can these left handed hitters hit any more weak grounders with handles on them right into the shift?
  7. Arcia looks like he’s never been away. Still some of the worst mechanics at the plate I’ve ever seen in the major leagues.
  8. Really glad the Brewers added a relief pitcher. Now maybe they won’t have to use position players as often to finish after the starters put the game out of reach.
  9. Of course, if the score had been 3-2 Jansen would have started the inning and Yelich probably would never have gotten to the plate.
  10. The bullpen being nearly perfect in April and May allowed them to win a lot of games despite the consistently short starts and an offense that gets shut down, if not shut out, way too often. Whether heavy use in high leverage situations is a factor or not, almost everyone in the bullpen has slipped and a number of those close wins have been turning into close losses. Unless they can add some significant pieces to fill some of the holes (and soon) they’re going to have a hard time maintaining even the .500 pace of the last 6 weeks against a much tougher schedule.
  11. 5 straight bullets should be enough to prove that a pitcher doesn’t have it tonight.
  12. Keep in mind that Miley is still working his way back from injuries and might not be ready to go any deeper. But, remember when the Brewers had a good bullpen?
  13. If a game is called due to weather before 5 innings are completed (or 4 1/2 innings if the home team is ahead) the game is wiped out and replayed in its entirety. For today it’s a moot point because the rain slowed and stopped long enough for 5 innings to be completed with the Cardinals ahead 12-1. Now it’s 15-1. Carpenter has 3 HRs and 2 doubles.
  14. Lester got shelled and the Cardinals have moved out to an 11-1 lead in the top of the 4th inning. It’s starting to rain hard and more significant rain is expected, so the Cubs are taking their time hoping to get the game washed out
  15. One thing we know for sure is that for the foreseeable future Hader is going to be booed and heckled wherever he goes (at least on the road) and he’s going to have to prepare for it and deal with it.
  16. This will put the record for the Brewers league in AS Games at something like 10-39-1. They switched leagues right about the time the NL stopped winning every year.
  17. The Brewers losing streak continues into the All Star Game. Dodgers manager more than happy to wear Hader out.
  18. Looking like there might be some rain bearing down on DC. Wouldn’t it be fitting if the Brewers have 5 All Stars and none of them get into the game? ETA: Never mind. Jeffress, Cain and Yelich are all in in the sixth.
  19. It's not like they haven't beaten good teams. Most good teams pad their record against bad teams. They have beaten some (but not many) good teams, but the bigger point is that they don’t have many games against bad teams to pad their record against after the break. And if they just play .500 ball the rest of the way (which won’t be easy) that won’t be good enough for a wild card spot.
  20. They are 19-21 since June 1st. Hardly reactionary. Reactionary would be making a move to try to make a quick fix. That not even bad. Especially when you get to perfectly just fit in a big losing streak. Before this 6 game losing streak we were 19-15. That’s pretty good. Wait a week and it could be over .500. Hardly cause for concern. Until you look at the upcoming schedule that includes 17 games in 17 days against all playoff contenders, including an 8 game trip to LA and SF. The second half schedule is much tougher than the first half. No Marlins, no Royals, no Twins, no White Sox, no Mets, and the Reds are now a better team than they were in April (and probably better than the Brewers). They do have 3 against the Padres and 3 against the Tigers the last weekend (if those games matter) but there are a lot fewer games against bottom feeders than there were in April and May when they built up their record. Maybe they’ll get lucky and catch some good teams in the midst of big slumps like they did with the DBacks, but I seriously doubt the Brewers can play above .500 the rest of the way, (and I would have said that last week) unless they can fill some of the many holes.
