  1. Well, two of the extra teams last year would have been Georgia and Ohio State. Georgia played Alabama to a one score game, and Ohio State was fresh off a baby seal type clubbing of Michigan. Honestly, if either of those teams made the playoffs and won the whole thing, I wouldn't have been shocked. Those two teams were good enough to beat anyone on a given day. Hindsight is 20/20, but those two teams were better than Oklahoma or Notre Dame. To me the semi final bloodbaths aren't an indication not to go to 8. They were an indication that the committee got it wrong when selecting the final 4, and hence maybe even an argument to go to 8. An undefeated UCF would have been in the mix multiple years with a field of 8. They may have gotten clubbed by Bama in the opening round, but at least we would know for sure. Last year without their QB probably not the best example for them though. To me the Power 5 conference champs should all have a shot to advance.
  2. With the ND comment, I'm just looking at it as if they are 1 loss and that loss is a one score game vs Georgia, that looks pretty good. Now if Georgia loses twice or more this year, then not so much. That's also possible with the schedule Georgia has. Just saw the Badgers opened as 23 point favorites over Northwestern for Saturday. Never would have guessed that line at the beginning of the season. Still seems crazy, even if they have had a slow start.
  3. Wish the Cubs could’ve taken 1 at least, but having them implode at Wriggley is hilarious. The Cubs and Phillies missing the playoffs is a great thing to me.
  4. I’d be on board if it was an arm injury. Just seems like one of the few guys we have that could match a Scherzer in a playoff. If he starts a playoff game and is throwing well, will be rough taking the ball after 3. They see him and work with him every day so I’ll trust it. Getting to 45 or so today would’ve been ideal though.
  5. Will be a short playoff start if he’s only stretched out to 35 pitches. If they don’t want him to swing, tell him not to swing....
  6. Hopefully nothing wrong with Woodruff. Thought they would push the pitch count up a little bit today.
  7. I think the loss at OSU would have to be close, and they would need help. A team like ND has a pretty soft schedule, especially if Michigan isn’t a threat to them. If they run the table after today’s loss, they’re probably in given they had a shot to win tonight. I really can’t believe they haven’t gone to an 8 team playoff with the Power 5 getting automatic bids and 3 at large. Any given year I would believe the #5 could win it. Usually can’t say the same for #9. It even sounds stupid to have a “Power 5” but a 4 team playoff...
  8. Might be a very talented QB, but he’s looked awful to start the year. He threw for under 100 yards today and was benched in the 4th.
  9. Never sat in a suite at MP. Have a good time, let us know how it is!
  10. I hate the Phillies, watching them fade out of contention late with Harper hitting .250 is amusing to me.
  11. Great to see Woody back on the mound tonight. I will be working during the majority of the game, but will catch up on DVR. Will be very interesting to see if he works through some rust, or is able to pick up where he left off. He could be huge down the stretch.
  12. I feel like this situation is one where a simple rule tweek can drastically speed up a game...
  13. I had the exact opposite reaction. If Rodgers puts either of those on the money they are completions. And where on Earth could he have put the ball for Scantling? Scantling caught the ball and the DB literally rode him about 3 yards out of bounds. With Jones if he leads him anymore, Jones can't get there. Thought the throw to Scantling was high and Jones behind. Jones has to slow down and reach back. Neither throw bad, but not “perfect”.
  14. A game we’ve never trailed after a week our D made huge stands to salt away a prime time win and still negativity abound. THIS team has never folded late, can’t we curb the we lost negativity till we’ve actually lost something?
  15. I had the exact opposite reaction. If Rodgers puts either of those on the money they are completions.
  16. Hopefully the D can dig in, but they’ve got to be wearing down. Been on the field a ton after the 1st qtr
  17. Man, giving up big plays. Need the offense to answer with a drive here.
  18. Packers offense looks completely lost right now. Confusion in personnel groups, alignment issues, and seem to be having issues getting the play calls in.
  19. That could be a season ender for Raven Greene
  20. Complete yuck! Story of the season, just could never keep any momentum. Every time they got things rolling some issue/injury arose. Best of luck to him in his recovery. Hope he can fully heal and come back just as strong.
  21. Honestly didn’t think they’d use Mertz in any sort of mop up duty. If there’s any chance he red shirts it’s odd to burn 1 of the 4 games.
  22. I wouldn’t call the OL or Lane Taylor a weakness. Cut them some slack, it was a tough front 7. If Jenkins replaces Taylor it will probably be because the rookie earned it, not because Taylor’s play is inadequate. I don't mean to take anything away from the Bears DL, because they are extremely talented. However, it's the NFL, you're paid to block them, or at least slow them down. There were multiple times Taylor was either steam rolled with a bull rush or completely whiffed in space that caused instant pressures. I don't have a subscription to PFF, but I'm guessing if someone looked up Taylor's grade from last night it would be pretty rough. Maybe he will settle in against lesser DL in the coming weeks, but if he doesn't play better than he did last night, he won't have that job for long.
  23. Really nice win to start the year. I thought the play of the game may have been the punt that pinned Chicago back on their last drive. Was really great to see the FA signings all contribute tonight. The one glaring weakness was the OL. They were playing against a stout DL, but they were terrible at times. I don’t see Lane Taylor holding off Jenkins for long. He looked all sorts of bad tonight.
  24. Kind of funny this is being discussed here. Where I work is Packer jerseys on game days as pretty common apparel. I was looking through my closet this morning and realized I don't own a single jersey of a current player. I currently have: Charles Woodson Jordy Nelson Clay Mathews (Pro Bowl) Randall Cobb Brett Favre I'm rocking the 21 Woodson today.... Guess I will have to get with the times and get a current jersey at some point this year.
  25. Zeke reportedly signs a 6 year $90 million dollar extension. I know he's good, but how many running backs have lasted as long as this extension will take him? He somewhat has to be a product of that offensive line.
