What if there is a high leverage moment in the fourth inning?
In seriousness, I’m not sure if there is a high leverage situation that Murphy does not immediately link to Aaron Ashby.
Right-hander Kevin Gausman starts for Toronto. Gausman has pitched well throughout his career against Milwaukee with a 1.51 ERA and 41 K over 35.2 IP. Gausman has been exceptionally good this season, striking out 40.6% of batters while only walking 3.1% of batters.
Jacob Misiorowski pitches for Milwaukee. Miz has struck out 41.8% of batters this season but walked 13.4%. Misiorowski was excellent in his last start until walking the bases loaded in the 6th against Boston. Miz has more strikeouts than any other pitcher in baseball who has only made three starts, so far. Unfortunately, Gausman and Cease (tomorrow's starter) are right behind Miz in 2nd.
Good decisions can lead to bad outcomes. Ultimately, I think teams and players are judged based on outcomes after a large enough sample. Not every player or type of decision warrants a large sample to test a hypothesis, though.
I agree that the Pratt extension almost certainly will make business sense. I think we overlook how good Pratt’s numbers in Biloxi were because Southern League is tough on hitters. Pratt’s 2025 wasn’t great but it was pretty good.
We are -0.2 bWAR at LF and -0.3 bWAR in RF this season. Chourio will fill one of those holes. Frelick will improve. I think we need more Hamilton at 3B.
Right-hander Zack Littell starts the final game of the series for Washington. Littell makes his second start and third appearance of the season. Washington used an opener for his first start against Philadelphia. Littell has been effective against Milwaukee over 25.2 career IP allowing just 5 ER (1.75 ERA). Littell had three starts against the Brewers last year with 2.16 ERA over 16.2 IP. source
Brandon Woodruff looks to be the stopper for Milwaukee this afternoon. Woodruff's last start against Washington was August 2, 2025. Woodruff went six innings allowing 2 ER with 8 K in a 8-2 Brewers win. source
Checks box score for Nashville for our top infield prospects. Williams .512 OPS, Pratt .473 OPS, Wilken .330 OPS, Closes computer.
On the other hand, Made 1.022 OPS and Burke 1,139 OPS in Biloxi. 🙂
