  1. Loretta's appearance was 2001. Also, Terry Francona pitched an inning in 1989.
  2. I like the Power logo and am disappointed it is not included. BTW, the Biscuits lost the first round.
  3. Where are the Twins? Usually I expect to see them in the top half of MLB in minor-league rankings. Edit: Using some research, I see they are 18th. No idea if the rankings are accurate or not, but it does surprise me.
  4. Yeah I'm with TLB on this one, it seems more silly and pointless than funny. If they really sent that letter to Clemens, I'd be disappointed. If they didn't actually send it to him, then I guess it's harmless. On the other hand, I can see Mass' point where minor-league clubs have to try anything to generate interest. I guess I'm just hoping they didn't really send that letter.
  5. If you don't want to have to set your lineup every day, why don't you make the setting weekly roster changes instead of daily? The problem I have had in a head-to-head league with daily settings is that some teams always drop and add a starting pitcher or two every day, thus racking up the wins and strikeouts. If you don't want to change your lineup every day, you most likely can't keep up. It's annoying. Not having bench spots won't keep that from happening. I don't mean to be critical, just that in my experience, if you want a true casual league, the weekly roster change setting really works good. You really only have to check your team once a week.
  6. JD Closser signed a MLCWSTI with the Cubs. (minor league contract with spring training invite)
  7. Chad Paronto signed with Houston. Link
  8. Devon White is the new Washington Nationals minor league outfield coordinator.
  9. I'm sorry but this thread is giving me a good laugh.
  10. This is exactly what I came here to post. What happened to managing like there's no tomorrow, or whatever it was? Cordero had a day off, there's no way he wasn't available. Cordero absolutely should have been pitching the 9th inning. My only question was whether he stays in for the 10th or not.
  11. Victor Santos has just recently been pitching for the Orioles.
  12. I'm with JimH5 on this one. Honestly, I can't believe it's even a question.
  13. Good team effort on the offensive side, with every starter either scoring or driving in a run.
  14. Victor Santos is pitching for the Orioles after being purchased from the Reds. He is on to his 8th major league team in 7 seasons.
  15. The lineup has become fairly predictable finally: Milwaukee R. Weeks 2b G. Gross rf R. Braun 3b P. Fielder 1b C. Hart cf G. Jenkins lf J. Estrada c J.J. Hardy ss Y. Gallardo p Pittsburgh N. Morgan cf N. McLouth lf F. Sanchez 2b A. LaRoche 1b J. Bautista 3b S. Pearce rf R. Paulino c J. Wilson ss B. Bullington p
  16. Hope you don't mind that I'm using it. I think it's great obviously but I apologize for not giving you credit.
  17. Wickman signed with the Diamondbacks.
  18. I didn't make it, I got it from somewhere, but honestly can't remember where.
  19. He's not just trashing the Brewers either, he also seems to be saying that it's not possible that Detroit, Seattle, Philly, or the Dodgers could somehow make up 3 games in the last 3 weeks. He doesn't seem to realize that any of these teams could still get hot. Although I think I'd agree with him on the Braves and Rockies.
  20. I think maybe "seeing his mojo" as a pinch-hitter late in a close game may work out just fine.
  21. Brewers vs Arroyo: (Expect to see Gross again in place of Hall...) 22. Actually, Bush has been much better this year in Cincinnati over last year. In this year's 2 starts, he's given up 4 runs in 5+ innings, and was in line to win one before the bullpen gave it up. In the other, the Brewers came back but lost in extra innings. In his 2 starts there in 2006, Bush gave up 6 runs in 3 innings, and 7 runs in 4 innings, getting pounded in the 1st inning both times and never giving the Brewers a chance. Arroyo, on the other hand, won his only appearance against Milwaukee this year, at Miller Park last month. He gave up 3 solo HRs in 7+ innings but won. In 2006, he split his 4 games against the Brewers. Twice he dominated, but two other times the Brewers were able to get enough runs to beat him.
  23. A couple more September callups include a couple of journeymen with their 10th organization, Sal Fasano (Blue Jays) and Dan Serafini (Rockies). Serafini will make his first major-league appearance since 2003 after not playing in 2004 and playing in Japan in 2005-06. Serafini pitched in 9 games with Brewers AAA affiliate Indianapolis in 2001; Fasano played 34 games there in 2002 before being included in the Alex Ochoa-Pedro Liriano deal with the Angels.
  24. Braun has now hit 27 HR in 90 games. To contrast, Pujols hit #27 in his 110th game and McGwire hit #27 in his 83rd game. Through 90 games: Braun 27 HR, 73 RBI, .334 BA, 1.024 OPS McGwire 32 HR, 69 RBI, .270 BA, .985 OPS Pujols 22 HR, 69 RBI, .325 BA, .988 OPS
  25. The best part about this trade is that after the season there's a strong possibility King will be traded for Wes Helms...
