  1. IMO the All Star Game is a glorified popularity contest and I don't really mind if we only have one player in it. I haven't voted and I really don't plan on to. Often the game is on a Tuesday and I have another commitment on Tuesday nights. Usually we watch the HR hitting contest and that's it. I must say I'm surprised at the number of votes Braun is getting. If you read comments on baseball sites or listen to fans boo him like crazy on the road you would think he was universally reviled except for Brewer fans.
  2. The coverage, or lack thereof, the Brewers get from ESPN is ridiculous. The only time they talk about us is when something bad happens or we lose. When we win a game and you go to the MLB page on ESPN's website you won't find a thing about the game unless a starter gets hurt. You have to click on Scores near the top of the page and look there for anything about the game. I'm surprised they have us in the top 5 in their power rankings, frankly.
  3. Rickie drives me crazy. I'd rather we go with Scooter but he's bad against lefties.
  4. No, most start at 7:00 local time, even in the eastern time zone. That's why you see night games vs. Pittsburgh, Cincy, etc... start at 6:00 here. But its the opposite for me in FL. If a game in Milw starts at 7 PM it doesn't start in the eastern time zone until 8 local time.
  5. At least games in Milw start at 7. In the eastern time zones games start at 8 and don't get done until almost 11 PM.
  6. Now that I'm back in GB I can hear the radio broadcasts and I was wondering who that was at first on the broadcasts. I take it Uecker only does home games now? How old is Uecker and how much longer will he call games?
  7. And it can't be fun to hear cat calls and god knows what else everywhere outside of Milw and Miami. It gets rather old. Fans of other teams treat him like he's a child molester for crying out loud - like he's the first guy to ever take a PED and then lie about it.
  8. Who said it was okay? And what is wrong with looking for a silver lining when you have a bad night?
  9. I'm gonna chalk up tonight's game as just one of those every team has. Everything they hit seemed to find a hole or drop. That happens sometimes. Just in the last home stand we get 11 runs against the Cubs one night and then shut out the following day. At least the Cards and Reds lost.
  10. So obviously an Orioles fan....clearly not remembering that Nelson Cruz got busted too huh? Yes, the others in this get a pass by fans but Braun is Public Enemy #1.
  11. And he probably won't be an All-Star starter. I suspect a lot of that is because of that brawl in Pittsburgh. He isn't exactly loved by other teams' fans. I'll be surprised if we get more than one guy in that game. Nobody outside of Crew fans know any of our guys outside of Gomez and Braun for all of the wrong reasons.
  12. I sure hope so. It ain't fun having the Cards breathing down our necks right now.
  13. As the Marlin announcers said, he was effectively wild.
  14. Orange is a good color for Florida, tho. I like these better than the black ones they had before.
  15. Tommy Sutton - who is the color guy for the Marlins - made me giggle when he said "somewhere Cole is screaming" when Gomez admired that hit.
  16. We see all of the Marlin games here in southwest FL and that Stanton guy is a beast. He can launch HRs off of everybody.
  17. We watched the Marlin broadcast team - BTW, IMO these guys are the best - and they said it is almost impossible to see what is going on in the visitor's bullpen in Atlanta. Even they in the broadcast booth can't see! I wonder if we mistakenly had Duke warming up when RR wanted Smith instead. Nobody could see who was warming up and our bullpen coach wasn't there so RR assumed it was Smith and not Duke. What a crazy situation. The team showed me something by bouncing back against Miami after that embarrassment.
  18. Last night's boneheaded bullpen move made us look like amateurs but 2 pitching coaches - Kranitz and bullpen coach Tunnell were not there last night. I pray that was the reason that situation imploded last night...
  19. I think we'd all like ANYBODY on the bench over Overbay.
  20. Maybe that should be tattooed to his forehead.
  21. No kidding. That chop nonsense IMO is more demeaning that some profile on a helmet.
  22. This is inaccurate. I suggest everyone read up on the rules surrounding Rule 5 here: http://www.thecubreporter.com/book/export/html/3517. Some items of note in the link: "7. If a team decides not to keep a player selected in the Major League Phase of the Rule 5 draft on its MLB 25-man Active List (and/or MLB DL), the player must be placed on Outright Assignment Waivers, where any of the other 29 MLB clubs can claim the player for the $25,000 Rule 5 waiver price and assume the Rule 5 obligations." "8. If the Rule 5 player is not claimed off Outright Waivers, the player then must be offered back to the club from which he was drafted, and the player's former club can reclaim the player for $25,000, with the player being automatically outrighted to the Reserve List of the minor league club from which he was drafted. The club from which the player was drafted usually has 72 hours to decide whether to reclaim the player." So, if the Brewers put him on waivers, they can't revoke it. If a team claims Wang, he's gone. There is no ability to play teams against each other to try and up trade value. Thanks for posting this. I didn't know how this rule worked.
  23. I thought I read somewhere that Braun really struggles against Santana.
