  1. Well technically Dudley is worth just about what we got for him...which is slightly more than squadoosh. Ersan is Ersan, and just got traded again with another bum. ZaZa is doing OK, but he's just an average player with not much defense. I got the point of Vasquez somewhat...he was available, has size, a good FT shooter, can hit an occasional shot, and a decent passer. Was he worth a 1st round pick to me? No, but in reality it wasn't giving up much. I think we were hedging ourselves against MCW not developing with a decent, somewhat young PG, but once he got hurt that whole plan went out the window for the year. Correct me if i'm wrong but my memory tells me that 1st rounder via the Clippers is top 15ish protected, and if we don't end up turning it around here in the 2nd half we'll still have that pick this June. The 2nd rounder is worth nothing..those picks never amount to anything. Have you watched this season? Zaza is averaging a double double starting for the 5 or 6 seed in the west, even got cursory all star talk, we got nothing. Ersan played generally well and has helped Detroit turn things around, then was traded for 24 yr old who just signed 16mil per year contract. What did we get? Nothing. Dudley is a solid rotation player hitting 46% of his 3s while playing great defense, and even starts most games for a team that was supposed to make the playoffs, we got nothing. I never thought Vasquez would be as bad as he was and it was likely due to injury but how do we give up 3 solid players for nothing. Yet they get a first and a second for one solid player? The real kicker is that we're supposed to be a young team, why give up a first for one year of a backup PG. But there was no room for Ersan here. He is feeble on defense & Jabari Parker needs the minutes. Combine that with his pricey contract and that's why we got what we did. As for ZaZa sure he'd be decent to have around, but let's not kid ourselves...he averaged like 7pt/6reb last year and started half the season. He wasn't going to be a long term solution here so we took a gamble on Greg Monroe and traded ZaZa to offset the contract expense. I really liked Dudley and was sad when we traded him, but again, another guy that is not a long term piece. He'd be clogging the road for Giannis and (a healthy) Mayo too. I'd expect Vaughn will start playing more as well. None of these moves were terrible in my opinion, and seem to be loosely similar to what the Brewers are doing with their vets. The Vasquez one on the other hand was contradictory, but I guess you could compare him to Aaron Hill or Chris Carter...lottery ticket on a depth position hoping you can get more for him down the road OR benefit the team if you outperform expectations.

  3. Flores is nothing of value. No need to accomodate him. At best he is just a guy. I have no idea why any team would ever trade for him let alone try and find a place in the starting lineup. Since two teams traded for him within a few months, I suspect that GM's see him as more than "just a guy". I would view him the opposite...he's an expendable piece just as light hitting Luis Sardinas was. If he was that great GMs would go out of their way to not include him in trades. I have no qualms with Flores, and think he could end up being a useful piece. That's what he is though, a piece. Domingo Santana has the potential to be a 20 million dollar a year OF if he puts everything together like he has in the minors.
  4. I see no issue with it. Hill is a proven vet, Cecchini and Middlebrooks are at this stage essentially scrub waiver claims who need to prove themselves. If Cecchini and/or Middlebrooks outplay Hill he will either be benched, released, or platooned. If Hill plays to his talent level it will be good for the team either record wise, or from a trading perspective mid season. Hill's been a streaky player the last 7-8 years, either he's golden or absolute trash. We need/hoping for the good version.
  5. Novak's defensive skills rival that of a 3 year old child right now. If he plays at all, I will be shocked. Just Kidd giving another contract to another buddy of his who he used to play with. Copeland's D is every bit as bad if not worse. Just moving pieces around at the back end of the roster is all, no biggie.
  6. I agree the Davis trade was pretty bad, but Lind was worse. Nottingham may not stay at catcher but at least he has a tool that projects to the major league level and is a legitimate prospect. The guys in the Lind trade are just guys you'd have to round out a minor league pitching staff. How does anyone know if the Lind trade was bad? We won't know for some time. Disregarding the players we got in return, Lind may not even have any value...he's in his 30s and is injury prone. Back injuries don't go away as you age, they get worse. I doubt Stearns threw a dart at the wall filled with Seattle prospects and randomly landed on those three pitchers...there's something there we don't know just yet in my opinion.
  7. Looks like they finally shook off the MSU flatness there in the 2nd half. When they're playing well they really are a joy to watch.
  8. Good MCW shows up and takes over the 2nd overtime...really nowhere to be seen pretty much the other 5 quarters. Such a frustrating player, maybe we shouldn't give up on him though because maybe he's just a late bloomer. Parker played AWESOME the past two nights. I don't get to see many Bucks games but that was a pleasure to see.
  9. Wake me up when the spring training games start.
  10. Bucky laying a bit fat egg tonight. Hopefully my patented touch of complaining and then teams turning it around will reverse jinx it and they'll come back to win.
  11. I sure hope not, Rubio is a walking injury waiting to happen. MCW looks like Curry compared to Rubio in the shooting department as well. Jason Kidd really, really wants a pass first PG to run the offense and can make an occasional shot (you know, exactly the player HE was). Teams can win with a PG that is an average or worse shooter if he can pass and run the offense well. The problem for the Bucks, is that other than Middleton, NOBODY in the starting lineup can consistently shoot - Parker and Giannis need to develop this to some extent and the Bucks need a SG that can actually shoot the ball well. You severely underestimate how inept Rubio is at shooting. He literally shoots like a 7th grader. I see plenty of it living in Minnesota. I do however really like that Ty Lawson idea.

  13. Is he serious? If this were actually a feasible scenario I wouldn't even think about it, it's immediate yes. Guards are extremely valuable, we can fill down low with bodies. Russell could be a star guard. By no means am I saying give up on Jabari in general but passing on elite potential guards is tough for me.
  14. CHris Davis has 1090 career strikeouts and 797 career hits. Miguel Sano has 119 career strikeouts and 75 career hits. What exactly is your point? Strikeouts do not infer whether a player is useful or not.
  15. Drew Gooden's amnestied contract.
  16. Lots of armchair GM's out there about Davis. If he injured himself on the third day of the season these same people who are whining and moaning about trading him would be right back in this thread complaining that Stearns had no foresight to sell high on a 28 year old OF with a limited track record of consistent hitting. It's a no win situation. It's easy to sit behind a keyboard and call for more value, when in all reality not a single one here knows what the exact value of Khris Davis was or is, or any other Brewer. His numbers WILL drop out in Oakland, why do you think Yoenis Cespedes stats ballooned once he got out of there? I'll trust the guy with computer models who are qualified enough at 30 years old to be a MLB GM over the guys sitting on a couch with beer in hand, computer in lap anytime until proven otherwise.
  17. I thought it'd be a year or two for us, and then we'd be really good (Iverson, Happ, etc), so this surprised me a bit. Illikanen is going to be really good too, but he's more raw ala Kaminsky. I think Bo Ryan deserves one more massive thank you for stepping away and giving us a chance to have Gard. Might end up being his biggest gift. No way Barry can change coaches now barring a total collapse.
  18. This Badgers squad could go deep too. Not quite as talented but Hayes and Happ are really good. They just hit clutch shot after clutch shot yesterday...tons of heart. Sweet 16 and then we'll see where it goes from there depending on matchup.
  19. Traded INF Luis Sardinas to Seattle for OF Ramon Flores(23). Claimed OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis(28) off waivers from the N.Y. Mets and 1B Andy Wilkins(27) from Texas. Claimed C Josmil Pinto(26) off waivers from San Diego. Agreed to terms with 3B Will Middlebrooks(27) on a minor league contract. Agreed to terms with 1B Chris Carter(29) on a one-year contract. Traded SS Jean Segura and RHP Tyler Wagner to Arizona Diamondbacks for RHP Chase Anderson(28), 3B Aaron Hill(33), SS Isan Diaz and cash. Traded LF Rymer Liriano(24) to Milwaukee Brewers for LHP Trevor Seidenberger. Signed free agent LF Eric Young Jr.(30) to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training. Traded 1B Jason Rogers to Pittsburgh Pirates for CF Keon Broxton(25) and RHP Trey Supak. Claimed RHP Zack Jones(25) off waivers from Minnesota Twins. Traded C Manny Pina(28) to Milwaukee Brewers. Completes the November 18 trade. Claimed 2B Colin Walsh(26) off waivers from Oakland Athletics. Traded 3B Garin Cecchini(24) to Milwaukee Brewers for cash. Traded SS Jonathan Villar(24) to Milwaukee Brewers for RHP Cy Sneed. Either you do not know what exclusively means or your head has been in the sand. While there has been a lot of action towards the young prospects, Stearns has also done a nice job using resources to get some fresh players, some who still hold somewhat of a high upside, into Milwaukee building our depth. Some people want to pretend like the Brewers roster was winning games last year. There is a reason some of these guys are expendable and Davis is one of those players. People deliberately are ignoring that point. If Stearns properly constructs the roster for 2016 it could very well be a better team than we fielded in 2015. That sure will be a bitter pill to swallow for the people who get aroused by the idea of perpetual rebuild and #1 draft picks galore.
  20. there's plennnnnnnty more OF where he came from if he fails. one or more of about 10 new guys will end up working out for us.
  21. Blow up in his face? You just cannot say anything good about a move Stearns makes can you...what do you feel would be better. Competing for a 81-81 record this year? 81-81 would be stellar for the roster that Stearns inherited. Some fans wont have the stomach for a rebuild but so far Stearns is doing a great job. Davis is the exact guy you trade. He is already 28 and is arby eligible starting next year. He is limited to DH unless you want to take a huge hit defensively. And at the same time he is a nice pieve to trade for if you are Oakland because he will hit and hit fairly well. Call me nuts but I don't think the current team is much of a downgrade from the 500ish club we have fielded the past few years. If there aren't any injuries and everything goes as planned it would not surprise me if we surprised a few folks. A properly constructed roster may actually IMPROVE things for us.

  23. Between Bubba Derby, Damien Magnifico, and Brett Maverick, the Brewers have some of the best names in baseball. Oakland didn't even deal their best names. Skye Bolt and Dustin Hurlbutt. Honest to God.
  24. Peralta is the PERFECT guy to deal. Tantalizing upside to fool a dumb GM that will get you a really good prospect(s), but likely he's a middle of the road player. All for it.
  25. I did way too much ho'ing in 2015. Finally got myself settled on an all Titleist bag after being a Ping person for 15 years and could not be happier. (I found a near whole set of 714AP2 in the demo bin at $40 apiece). I determined that there was no way to blame my clubs when Jordan Spieth is winning everything with the same ones LOL. Could always upgrade the putter over what I have now but i'm fine with that too right now. Hopefully all the $ spent this year is just towards golf and tournament entry fees and not more ho'ing, but no guarantees.
