One win today to stay alive. Two to put us back in good position. I think if we have a small lead after five I'd try to go to Williams for two to close it out. Then go to Hader for two in the same situation in the night game. During the last couple doubleheaders we've used both of them in the same game. I understand that strategy but it leaves us with a rocky bullpen for the other game.
Anyone see that shot of the Reds dugout with film of the Reds facing the Brewers at Miller Park? I didn't realize that was something that upcoming hitters did to prepare for at bats. Makes sense that they would, just didn't think that was the case.
Phillies lose the front end of the DH vs. Washington, putting them at 27-28. With a win tonight, the Brewers would at worst be tied for the 8th spot in the NL.
The Brewers currently sit in 10th, 1GB STL, CIN, and SF for the 7-9 spots. 1.5 behind Philly for 6th and 2 behind Miami for 5th. Definitely control their own destiny. My bet is 30-30 gets it done. Here's to a 6-4 finish.
Could have been way worse in St. Louis. Big double play. I doubt CHI scores enough vs. Flaherty anyways but at least they kept it from getting completely out of hand early.
It's been a hell of a run regardless of outcomes today. More incredible than last year and arguably the most unlikely run I've ever seen by any of my favorite teams (Packers rolling off 8 straight in 2016, maybe?). Looking forward to sitting back and enjoying this afternoon. Here's to hoping for some daytime baseball tomorrow.
