At what point do you guys start getting excited about the possibility of the unlikely Brewers 5-0 finish and Giants 0-5 finish? For me it's Saturday morning. If they are alive Saturday morning I'll have slight hope.
The pitching matchups for this Cardinals series are not ideal but I really like the way it lines up for the following 3 series. We avoid Liriano and Cole in Pittsburgh. We run into Cueto but counter with Fiers. Then we avoid Arietta and Hendricks in Chicago .
I read the Disciples of Uecker series previews every week until the last week of August. Been really busy with work and haven't had the time. Will need to make time to read the Marlins one today to turn things around.
5-1 the rest of the week. Win these next three behind Garza, Peralta and Fiers. Offense showed some signs of life last night but Gallardo dug the hole too big too early. Garza throws a few scoreless innings out of the gate tonight and the offense builds an early lead and hangs on. Pirates lose. Back within .5 games. Of course, nearly all of my predictions have been wrong but the optimism is here to stay and things have to turn at some point.
The Brewers actually play the Reds and not the Pirates, which is actually a good thing as the Reds have been horrible as well. 5-2 record seems reasonable, maybe 6-1. Even better. I'll stick to 5-2. Can't get too greedy given the past 3 weeks
We're right in the playoff race with 19 to play. The Braves are in a huge slump as well. The Pirates play a 4 game @ PHI who has been playing well lately. Win tonight, take 3 out of 4 against Miami, and we're right back in this thing.
Since we are desperately in need of something positive....With Atlanta and Pittsburgh tied in the loss column, the Brewers magic # for a WC berth is http://z.lee28.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/weeks1.jpg
CHI - 2-1 STL - 2-2 MIA - 2-2 CIN - 2-1 STL - 1-2 PIT - 1-2 CIN - 2-1 CHI - 2-1 14-12. Finish 1 game up on the 2nd wild card. Pirates and Braves fail to make up ground
About as close to a must win as can be tonight. If you would have told me we'd be a 1.5 games up on the WC on September 2nd I would have taken it in a heartbeat, but given the play lately they really need to figure things out
Segura has every reason to be distraught about his loss and we should all understand that it may be affecting his performance. However, he has been awful for over a year now. If Segura cannot perform, then Herrera needs to play, regardless of the circumstances.
