    If this team is as close to competing as it apparently is, why trade Santana at all? He is literally exactly what you are looking for on a competitive/rebuilding team: young, improving, controlled. He's locked up until after 2021. I know we are OF rich, but why take the gamble on Phillips or Brinson when you know what Santana's floor is and he hasn't reached his prime/potential yet? I think Broxton makes much more sense to replace than Santana. Just seems like an unnecessary risk to trade what you know you have for a SP and then move in a prospect where you don't 100% know what you have, when you could just move the prospect plus a few lower pieces and keep the proven guy. I much rather trade Ray/Ortiz/+ for Gray or if it came down to it Brinson/+ than explore something with Santana at this current moment. 100% agree - You have a a guy that is just sniffing his potential.

    If you would have read...Based purely on Stats...I guess most people don't realize that Grienke had an ERA of 3.83 (yes if FIP was 2.98)

    Trying to compare both teams and seeing what pieces we may be missing - Purely looking at stats 2017 vs 2011 C - Pina/Vogt > LuCroy 1B - Thames < Fielder 2B - Villar < Weeks SS - Arcia > Betancourt 3B - Shaw > McGehee LF - Braun < Braun CF - Broxton = Morgan RF - Hart = Santana Anderson >Greinke - Nelson >Gallardo Davies < Marcum Guerra < Wolf Garza = Narveson Knebel = Axford Hughes < KRod Barnes < Hawkins Drake < Loe Hader > Estrada 2017 has better offense - If we get that Ace type (Archer) and another bullpen arm, we would be a better team than 2011 Thoughts?

    What the Hell are you talking about - Brinson plus one of Hader/Ortiz gets you in the running for Chris Archer type, not a RP with an ERA over 5 Look what Miller got last yr - A top 20, a top 100 and two nice pieces

    Stay the course unless someone offers you a trade that can help you more than just this yr.... For example if the pirates Call you about Cole. You trade Ray/Ortiz/Erceg/Diaz

    I know it's been only 4 starts, but he looking pretty good. Being 29 yrs old, he might be one that is moved instead of Nelson or Peralta. What type of value could he fetch?

    No reason to trade Perez - He is 25 yrs old and under TC for 4 more years..........Guerra is prime candidate.
