  1. At least we have our 22nd ranked farm to fill in the gaps next year. Sad trombone.
  2. Criticizing bullpen moves is pretty lame. I get that the teaching aspect of baseball can be looked at and certainly Wind Mill Eddie can get his share here and there but when a pitcher on the roster doesn’t do his job it’s really odd and lazy to go back to the manager.
  3. The tail end of our 40 man isn’t exactly the stuff of legends. We just didn’t want to obtain a catcher.
  4. The guy has two good pitchers in the pen now. He can’t use them for 4 innings every game. Stearns gave him Lyles. He uses Lyles. Lyles shouldn’t be here.
  5. His secondary stats are all positively horrible. Yet the guy has been our best pitcher the past month.
  6. I can't imagine we don't have better options in our farm than Jordan Lyles. This guy does not need to be part of a pennant race.
  7. Probably easiest to just say that I disagree with most of this. The points you make about team control and their offseason last year pretty much show why they're not acting like the Bucks. Yeah, they were probably comparable in '13-14 into '15, but that was under a different GM/scouting group. The fact that they didn't go out and give huge contracts to mediocre players like Alex Cobb like some advocated for is further proof. That was the Kohl (and recent) Bucks to a 'T'.... sign mediocrity to a stupid contract. That was the Brewers under Selig (see Hammonds, Grissom) and Melvin to a degree (Suppan, and the last year of most of the other pitchers), but that hasn't been an issue under this leadership team thus far, and I have no reason to buy into anyone's belief to the contrary. Lol. Big shock that you disagree. Yeah. Stearns has produced a farm system that is ranked in the 20’s and most of our guys are 30 or so and we are prettt much a 500 team since May. But of course you will tell us we are on upward trajectory.
  8. Just gotta get past this series and then we have some pretty winnable series coming up. The schedule starts to turn in our favor. Great point
  9. Braun and Fielder went away for different reasons and we drafted so poorly that not only did we not replace them (a near impossibility) we chose guys who weren’t MLB material. Of course it didn’t help that we went picking high due to the Herb Kohl style of leadership.
  10. I do not disagree at all with your reasoning but that looks like a lot of $$$ and even more hope. I can’t see us being players for point 1 and I’m fairly sure we don’t have the ammunition to land number 2. Everything else seems reasonable though not exciting.
  11. I know this is a sore spot for Milwaukee sports fans, but acquiring a guy like Yelich is the exact opposite of what the Bucks did under Kohl. What you really should be upset about (in another thread, of course) is that the Bucks' new ownership group is doing the same thing (but with gusto!) with the team now. I think the fact that they didn't go all in on mediocre veteran players and pay crazy silly amounts to them shows how anti-Bucks they are. They have a plan and are willing to tweak it, not scrap it. The Kohl-led Bucks had no plan, unless making the 8th spot in the East and never being bad enough to get better can be considered a plan. Yelich is an outlier who was only available because of the ridiculous Marlins cost cutting "ownership". Pretty much every move Stearns has made in 2018 has been for today with zero plan for the future. Most accounts suggest he have a farm system that is ranked in the 20's after 3 years of his leadership. That suggests that he is willing to acquire assets but then flip them as trade capital rather than grow through the farm. I can't say that is necessarily the worst idea in the world IF our moves were designed to build a young MLB roster but that isn't the case. Cain and been a fantastic player but he is 32. Chacin and his 4 plus FIP is 30 and has one year of control left. Anderson and Junior aren't young. The three guys we just picked up have a total of one year of control We aren't building a long term team. We are building a team of players who are for the most part all in their prime 27-32 years. If that isn't a tean trying to win now then I'm not sure what is. But just to play along if we don't make the playoffs what is the plan to get better next year? What could it possibly be with this roster and the farm system in it's current state? Hope Hiura makes the leap? Hope Peralta finds command? Pray for Davies and Nelson to return to health and 2017 levels? Trade Thames and Broxton for what exactly?
  12. If they don’t make the playoffs they will do the same thing as they did this year; patchwork with older players and copy the Herb Kohl Bucks.
  13. It wasn’t that anyone was “right” it was just common sense. No one is coming back a year later from that injury. Let alone be a meaningful TOR type. Internally the team had to know this.
  14. I would love for Kratz to go to winter league and become a full time knuckleball pitcher. At his age he’d have 5 more years plus and he’d actually be a decent hitting pitcher.
  15. If there was ever a an example for someone to use an invention freezes time and live in a moment forever, it's Bote. He probably is a nice utility player with power but it's guaranteed to go downhill for him soon. Kind of like Peraltas and Woodward’s first start. Sometimes things just fall into place when they probably shouldn’t. Just enjoy them when they happen I guess.
  16. The farm system is pretty bare especially in pitching, so it’s smart to add some of these fallen star former prospects and hope they can recapture what made them intriguing at one time. On the other hand, there is probably a reason a former top 100 who is only 24 was a available for cash.
  17. There was no mystery he wasn’t pitching in 2018. I can’t imagine anyone in our front office was counting on him this year.
  18. If Braun is back to 2012 Braun we make the playoffs. He is exactly what our offense has lacked.
  19. He was once a premium prospect and he is still young. DJ can turn most anyone into gold.
  20. Technically none of the next 5 games are must win.....but we can’t be less than 3-2. I think if we go 4-1, we go out and get a starter.
