  1. Carolina has been my biggest disappointment so far. That was supposed to be a monster lineup with some very advanced bats and we just aren't seeing it. I would tend to agree with other posters here. We have added depth but we haven't added the next Braun or Fielder. Brinson could be that guy, it's just so tough to gauge due to CS, but the tools are certainly there. I'm not writing off Ray, Clark, or Diaz of course but you need to see guys that highly rated not struggle in A+ ball.
  2. Based on Lutz and Lemons, it doesn't look like Huira was an underslot pick. That's disappointing.
  3. It's a tie. We need to add Jessica Memdoza to that group just to make it even more annoying.
  4. I'd think our first round pick was under slot so I'm not sure we needed to reach for Lemons?
  5. Assuming it's underslot, this is an excellent pick. Now we just need that DH to the NL to happen.
  6. Hiura. Underslot I assume due to TJS?
  7. I'm not sure Adell will ever make contact in the minors let alone against MLB pitching, even though he has a few 60 scores. I almost always want a position player over a pitcher because the value is usually better. But we have so few pitchers in the minors I wouldn't mind JBB.
  8. These guys will just have to fight through it. Not much help is on the horizon. I like Wang and Cravy but it's not realistic to expect three rookies with Hader to lead the bullpen to playoff caliber. I see more waiver claims and back end of the pen churning.
  9. Another day, another game where Carolina's bats are dead. Erceg and Diaz now at about .225 BA and the OPS is not pretty either. Ditto Ray and Clark. Serious buzz kill on the season. I was so excited to see the Carolina lineup all year.
  10. Counsel is a serious candidate for manager of the year. To be in first place with this roster is wizardry. I'd trust his judgement especially since Hader literally just arrived.
  11. Back to the OP, if this team is 10 over at the AS break and in first place, I would absolutely trade Ray for pitching. No question about it. Look what happened in Cleveland last year. A team that never should have sniffed 500 made a run, added Miller at a high cost, and came within a 9th inning run of winning a WS.
  12. The Cubs rotation is an absolute hot mess And the Russell drama and Schwarber crashing. They look vulnerable.
  13. Everything I've seen says June 4th as the latest possible cut off so we should be fine
  14. This is about the worst kept secret around. He was being groomed for the MLB bullpen. Not sure why they had to go all CIA on us.
  15. This will be an interesting meeting inside the Brewers FO. The metrics and data says we are a horrible team based on career norms (4th worst roster in the game according to fangraphs) but the standings say we are in first place. The Central, which looked like the best division in baseball just last year, now looks very winnable. This will be a battle between the analytics guys and the gate attendance guys inside Miller Park. My guess is we will make some fringe moves but nothing significant.
  16. Its time to give CC his due. He has done a great job with this roster. He is a keeper for the long term.
  17. Broxton plays great D and has speed. Late inning replacement could be his specialty. He'll be cheap for a few years yet. He should be in the mix for playing time over the next few years. However, if Brinson or Phillips outplays him, they should start or play more. Well, there is the issue. IF he was playing great D, I wouldnt mind his streaks. I am a big fan of great defensive players and I would love to have a guy who is a GG caliber CF and Id gladly put up with his streaky hitting. However, in 2017, he has been anything but great or even good defensively. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=9253&position=OF
  18. I hate having CS as our AAA team. How has his D been? I haven't seen him much at all.
  19. Now that we are past Super Two, there's nothing wrong with bringing Brinson up. Broxton hasn't even played good D this year so he really isn't Mike Cameron Jr. I am aware how hot he can get and he is in a valley now that he could break out from, but his D is really what bothers me, especially with Thames and Santana bracketing him. This does raise an interesting question though, even though fangraphs has us the 4th worst roster in the game on their depth charts, at what point do you see us at the top of the standings and bring up our better talent and sit down guys who are less than replacement level?
  20. You'd think in 2017 an athlete would take better care of themselves Short of that, I'd think the Brewers would have a full time nutritionist to make sure they have all the healthy food and education possible.
  21. There Is no need to rush anyone up just because they are the top prospect. In fact there is more reason not to because he is the top prospect. The team is doing better than expected and the offense is a major reason why. It is doing so with Thames and Franklin playing regularly so isn't a problem. I really hope the team stops rushing players to the majors like Melvin did with Weeks, Hardy and Fielder. If this administration feels the same way there is no guarantee Brinson won't be back in AAA for a couple months next year as well. I don't know that Brinson or Phillips would be qualified as rushed at this point. Yes the Brewers are hitting, but Broxton and Franklin are not. Furthermore a Santana, Broxton, Thames/Franklin OF might be the worst defensive OF in baseball. Braun will be a defensive upgrade over Thames and Franklin and that says it all. Ultimately I supposes it doesn't matter as this is a rebuilding year, but I think we really don't need to see anymore of Franklin, and it's not fair to our pitching staff to put that OF out there day after day if you have better options at CS.
  22. This is a team stocked full of OF prospects, we are past the Super Two, and we are playing Broxton, Franklin, and Thames in the OF on a regular basis.
  23. Poor CC trying to manage this bullpen. These guys are so inconsistent. Feliz struck out the side in a clean inning and Barnes didn't get an out.
  24. That play was the sun. That said he is a first basemen and should only be there in an emergency. In theory.
