  1. Well he wont pitch until after the AS break so its no big deal. That said, Wilkins has no value on the roster either since he cant play OF and he plays the same position as our only big power threat.
  2. little early to call the draft disasterous since Maker has yet to even play a summer league game. I also wouldn't call Delly a "bargain" they are still paying 9.5 million for a guy who played about 12 minutes a game in the finals. He does fit a need though and that is the going rate I guess. Im comfortable with that term until proven otherwise. The guy was a 2nd round pick that we picked 10th. No way there wasnt a trade down available. Unless he is Kevin Garnett lite, we really reached on the guy. A 23 year old (??) 7 footer playing better - at times - than a bunch of Canadian teens is only slightly more impressive than Yi posting up a chair. Regardless of what people think of his potential, he really doesn't project to be anything this year and likely next. If you have seen better reports, Id be happy to look at them. Can you remember a lottery pick being this universally panned that turned out to be a steal? We sold a draft pick for money which does nothing. Only teams with full quality rosters should pull that move. As for Delly, we needed a scrappy PG who would do anything for the good of the team. He fills a huge role at what is now a bargain price. Yes $9.5M is insane, I agree completely, but in 2016 FA that is cheap.
  3. So is that the issue with Jungmann? Steve Blass syndrome? If so, that may be that with him. What a crazy situation. The guy looked like Tom Seaver until September then kaboom.
  4. After a disastrous draft, the Buck have had a smart FA period. Delly and Telly fit roles we really needed at what is now considered bargain prices. Im curious what they will do with MCW and Moose though.
  5. Yes that's what I read. Why would the Brewers be buyers at the deadline? Maybe a young MLB starting pitcher fallen on hard times we can get cheap?
  6. We are playing good teams now. When we play teams that are tanking we are very competitive, when we play good teams we lose.
  7. Weird. Today's mlbtraderumors said DS was looking to acquire starting pitching at the deadline. Maybe, in fact probably, I misread the full intent and context, but those were the words.
  8. That's a pretty good return for a 39 year old pitcher. The market for our guys should be impressive.
  9. Could be. In the case of starting Ray in high A and Nottimgham in AA they have show they will move people aggressively with a plan in mind. Both players figure to be in Milwaukee soon. On the hand Phillips in AA says they still have a lot of caution.
  10. I've come around to the Ray pick, mostly because I have no choice. I fully expect him to be the Brewers starting LF by 2018. I think he will be a good player for us. Not a difference maker but a solid contributor. I do expect him to move up quickly and based on starting him at A+ , the Brewers do too.
  11. If they sign Noah to a max contract I may never watch the Bucks again. I am hoping that is just his agent using us as leverage.
  12. the videos of him in high school are much more impressive if he is the same age as those other kids instead of 4 years older. I think because he never played college ball, people are freaking out because there is so many questions on him. This pick will either be the best one in the draft or a complete disaster. That's the issue, his tape. If he is 23 and dominating HS kids, big deal. If he is the same age you have something interesting. Either way he is is still a reach at 10. Seems they could have traded down and picked him up later in the draft.
  13. Very interesting placement. High A but a horrible hitting environment.
  14. Because the difference between a 19 year old who hasn't played much basketball and a 23 year old who hasn't played much basketball is so big. Nothing I hate more than the "age" criticisms in cases like this. That said our 2nd rounders are absolute dog ****, Brogdon may never see a Bucks uniform and then you sell the 2nd one...Payton II was right there for the taking as a project PG. His tapes vs Canadian kids are dramatically different if he is 23. This is a real issue as he is raw regardless of age and likely won't see any reasonable court times for years. This was definitely a reach.
  15. Can we find out how old the guy is? If his is really 19 this is intriguing though quite a reach. If he is 23 this is a joke of a pick.
  16. I would not trade Middleton unless it was Number 3 and Brooklyns 2017. He is pretty much untouchable as the Bucks need more guys like him not less.
  17. He would be in Center at Louisville if he was a legitimate CF prospect. I have no idea why you guys would fight that, but what ever floats your boat. Again, its completely irrelevant because he wont be playing CF in Milwaukee, Maverick will. Therefore we drafted a corner OF no matter how you want to look at it.
  18. Incorrect. ??? All those say he isnt a CF. If he was a CF he would have been playing CF in college, not RF. The Brewers are an organazation that once played Kotsay in CF and Yuni, well anywhere, so anything is possible. But no, Ray is not an ideal CF by even the reports you just posted.
  19. Ray doesn't project as a CF because he isn't a CF based on the scouting reports. Yes he is fast but so was Lonnie Smith. I'm not trying to be argumentative but the reports say good bat, good speed, corner OF. But ultimately, the point is moot because if he advances like a college bat picked 5th should, he will up around the time Phillips will and he isn't going to be better in center than Phillips.
  20. I am not a big fan of Ray, just to be clear. He doesn't scream elite hitter to me and he doesnt project to be a CF. As a slot guy, not a great use of that pick, but time will tell.
  21. Apparently George Hill was worth the 12th pick in the draft right now, so Id say Monroe is certainly worth more than a late round draft pick.
  22. And Id add that yes, having a 900 OPS makes it easier to evaluate. I dont see enough games to know that a guy who is pitching poorly is actually improving because all I see are the box scores. I am still very high on Arcia and while I do get that he is facing a more advanced pitcher, at some point he does have to hit better. Certainly at the MLB level he will be facing better pitching both on stuff and brains. Same with Phillips. I dont see any other impact bats down in the minors right now, but maybe Ray is the guy? Kodi just doesnt look like anything but an interesting bullpen arm. I just saw an underslot reach so we could take the two sandwich guys who have also been underwhelming. We have all discussed the 2012 first round picks. At some point, these guys need to become "must watch" talents or we will just bring up a bunch of Scooters and Krush who are ok but we need the next Braun and Fielder.
  23. Thon Maker is the Youtube darling. His highlights are insane but it is against a bunch of Canadian hs kids. Is that like when Yi was posting up vs a chair and we drafted him anyhow?
  24. There is a lot of options but I wouldnt just give away Monroe. The lowest I would take is 16 and even that we wouldnt be getting fair value. Just because we cant or wont use him doesnt mean he is worthless. We dont need the cap room and his contract isnt all that bad anyhow. If they stay at 10, I agree the pick should be Poetl.
  25. Just Wrong..Brewers need impact young players, we aren't doing anything till 2018 anyways - Get the best talent you can now I agree. The Brewer farmhands arent lighting it up like I had hoped. We need an elite talent infusion.
