  1. I dont know if this is the right thread for this question, but where would you all rate the performance of the Brewer's farm system in 2016? Have they gone up or down in organizational rankings to date? I have only seen a few games on TV and havent attended any, so all I have to go on are the stats and the outstanding Link Report. My opinion is one of being VERY underwhelmed save Hader and the Diplan/Peralta combination. Even Arcia hasnt been terribly good with the bat like I had hoped, especially in Colorado Springs. Ditto Phillips.
  2. I have no idea why the Bucks cant find a use for Monroe. 16/9 and meh D is exactly what he was when they signed him. I have seen anywhere from 31 and 51 from the Celtics (puke) to 16 from the Celtics. Id rather keep him than trade him for that. Give us the 3 or Brooklyn's 2017 pick if they want him so bad. Henson to Center then? The guy that no coach seemed to ever want to start? The other rumor is they are going hard for Delly. If it is a buy low after his horrible play offs that I guess, but I have a feeling it will be some 4/54 type deal. I will never get the Bucks franchise and direction.
  3. As they say, its better to trade a guy a year too early than a year too late. Braun did his part by mashing this year, the Brewers need to leverage that instead of riding him into the ground.
  4. That's just the Brewers trying to get some leverage. Extending a 30 year old catcher would be insane.
  5. While my trade was hypothetical, my ability to jinx players is quite real. Wheeler has had a setback in his return from TJ.
  6. At the beginning of the year, I would have taken that deal. Of course at that time, I thought we had a calvary of OF'ers in the minors ready in year or so and I thought Braun would be an on and off DL kind of guy. Both assumptions of mine are way off. Now seeing how well he has performed, I am on the fence of such a deal. Braun is better than Wheeler but its Wheeler and $50-$75M factoring in what is left to pay Braun and what we would pay Wheeler give or take. Would Wheeler have significant trade value in 2017-2018, or is he the anchor of a (modestly) contending Brewer 2018 team? What would be a more appropriate and realistic Braun trade?
  7. I am pretty sure the Brewers couldn't get Trea Turner for Kodi, Gatewood, and Harrison. This is not a hindsight is 20/20 thing, this is a strategy comment. The Brewers cant follow a model where they can draft meh and sign FA's to fill the holes. They need to draft elite talent and you don't do that picking 10th or so unless you have a remarkably good scouting department and FO.
  8. Just a thought from the Lucroy thread about the Mets who I think is a bad fit for Luc. Braun for Wheeler straight up, no money from the Brewers side. Im not saying I would do it or not, just gauging what value Braun has here. Would you take it?
  9. It is way way way way way way too early to make any concrete judgment on the 2014 draft. Maybe, but did you look at that list I linked? Kodi was not the best use of the 12th pick.
  10. That makes the deal more complex for the Brewers. They need to hope Wheeler is the guy they hope he is, and they need to hope Harvey can come back to the "Dark Knight" in order to trade them down the road. Not impossible but not ideal. Its kind of like a big brother version of the trade for Chase Anderson. The Brewers didnt have much use for him but I guess they assumed he could be a flip candidate? For Wheeler, Im not sure I would give them much more than Carter + spares, certainly not Luc. As for Harvey, i know he can be great but it seems like a guy that wont want to be here and we don't really want him in the big picture. How soon could they flip him? This year? Next year?
  11. The 2014 draft is real proof this team just wasnt very good at drafting, picking 12th or otherwise. I am hoping that is changing, but that remains to be seen. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2014/drafttracker.jsp
  12. I get that they are a broken team and I get why they would want Luc, but if they trade Matz for Luc they will have made their MLB rotation weaker. Maybe Wheeler fills Matz spot, maybe not but Matz is a significant contributor to their MLB roster and one of the best young pitchers in baseball. Of course I would take Matz and if the Mets are dumb enough to trade him, Id take it in a second.
  13. The Mets are not a match at all. I cant imagine why they would trade one of their key MLB starting pitchers? Flores and Wheeler are not headliners for a guy like Luc on a team that is 2-3 years from contending. The Red Sox, Dodgers, and Rangers are the best bets IMHO.
  14. Maybe in deal with Braun. Brewers claim him trade them Braun and they unload whatever package Stearns wants.
  15. We just need a contending team in July to realize how much they need a 3rd starter. Ideally they would employ Dave Stewart but controllable pitching goes for a serious premium when desperation sets in.
  16. Picking 10th primarily riding the backs of Luc and Braun is insane. The team's record is better than I thought it would be, no doubt about that. I'd be fine with that if this was a young team building talent but other than Villar, Davies, and Nelson, the top performers are not young. Jeffries at 28 I guess you could call young though that's borderline. The difference between picking 3rd and 10th to a rebuilding team without meaningful funds is huge. Let's hope the hot start by by Luc and Braun will make their trade packages worth the drop in draft position and associated pool dollars. I do agree that once Luc and possibly Braun are dealt the losses will pile up.
  17. Is it wrong that the first thing I thought about was how much we can extract in a Luc trade seeing their guy hurt?
  18. Kirk, Pressley , and Flores have no meaningful ceiling in CF. I'm not sure Broxton does either but if they are going to give anyone 200 abs in the next few months in might as well be the guy with the raw talent.
  19. The defense will translate of course. I do admit I'm concerned about his offense. He isn't producing like I had hoped he would especially in Colorado Springs. But if he is up in the majors he is playing SS as there would be no one better on D than him.
  20. Moving Arcia to 2B at any point suggests you have a better option at SS which is not the case unless the trade piece back is an elite All Star caliber defender. He wasn't playing 2B for versitilty because there would be no point to that. He is our systems best defensive SS by a wide margin.
  21. Arroyo seems the guy but that's a Braun trade match up, not Luc for what it's worth.
  22. Very Interesting. Arcia is an elite SS. There would be no reason to put him at 2b unless they have some reason to play him there in Milwaukee at some point. Versatility means nothing when you have a SS as good as him. If he were to come up, he would play SS and Villar would move to 3B or 2B, not Arcia. But that does beg the question, why trade Luc for the only position we have covered in the system?
  23. If you think the Brewers will be competitive in the next 2 to 3 seasons you don't trade a guy like Nelson unless the package is insanely good.
