  1. What made 2017 possible was the maturity of the starting rotation, which was the only area of the team with young talent at the major league level. The rotation was the one reason you could honestly use the word "rebuild" instead of "tank" because you really were building around some talent. Now I dont know. Only Nelson is a guy Id want on the next good Brewer team as of today.
  2. He needs to work on his pitching and not at the major league level. I wonder if he is tipping his pitches?
  3. All you need to know about the Brewer offense is the game thread was mostly about what is officially a No Hitter.
  4. 690 OPS in Colorado doesnt scream big league run producer.
  5. Trade them Flores and Broxton. Actually, I always liked Carlos but i have no idea why the Brewers would want him for 5 more months in a tan....rebuilding season.
  6. Do not trade Peralta now! He isn't hurting the team in the big picture and he is at the bottom of his career in terms of value. If they need to throw in a pitcher, and i have no idea why, make it Blazek or even Jeffries who are at the peak value at this point of their careers.
  7. He apparently had a brutal game the day before. Funny but incredibly classless to do that to a minor league player. Can this guy be salvaged?
  8. Does anyone think Braun being on this team means an extra $200,000 in revenue vs him not on the team? Because that's his contract in 81 home games. There is no reason in the world to not trade Braun now if another team offers a reasonable prospect package.
  9. Well Flores hits L, so maybe they are doing a platoon with Braun? Blue, kinda
  10. Most of our key prospects have been terrible pitcher or not. I wonder why?
  11. The injuries have been to the bullpen and while it too has been bad, outside of Freeman it hasn't been that bad. The 5.65 ERA for the most part has been all on the starting rotation that, outside of Nelson, has underperformed. I guess Garza coming back should help, but that statement alone says its all. Im not disappointed that the offense and defense has been poor. We all knew it would be. If you give meaningful ABs to a Broxton a Hill, and a Flores, you arent trying to score a whole lot of runs. None of those guys are really the future of the team so when they performed poorly, meh. On a side note did you see this on Broxton at Omaha???? https://twitter.com/BrewCrewBlue/status/724733263122706433/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw The starting rotation however, was the one area we really were in building mode. Those guys were supposed to be the next wave of good talent that would make a 2018 play off run reasonable. If Johnson isnt the guy, then they need to correct that ASAP.
  12. If we are going to lose a bunch of games this season, and we are, Id much rather it was to the Cubs that the Cardinals.
  13. I knew the team would be brutal, but that was based on offense and defense. I assumed the young rotation would be decent to good. So far, only Nelson has been adequate. But comparison purposes, perennial last place pitching staff Colorado has a 5.70 ERA compared to the Brewers 5.65. Atlanta, the current worst team in baseball, has a 4.53 ERA. Briggs may just have a point with the pitching coach.
  14. Braun has had a really good season but I'd suggest that he is having minimal positive financial impact on any tix sold. Factor in his pay and it's highly doubtful he is a money maker. The Brewers should absolutely listen to trade offers to build their currently underperforming farm system.
  15. The next few seasons have nothing to do with winning on the MLB level, its about stockpiling the farm with elite talent. Lincecum wouldnt do that unless he can be rehabbed and flipped. Panda, IF the Brewers would be interested, would be to pick up prospects in exchange for taking on part of that disasterous contract, nothing more.
  16. To Braun's credit he has brought it big in a lost season coming off some injury issues. Looking at how the prospects have under performed so far, it would be to the Brewers benefit to continue stocking the farm. Braun is a tremendous trade chip at this point at should be moved if the right deal comes along.
  17. Look at 5-9. I think they are putting Villar there to break up the auto outs. At least they seem to be mercifully ending the Flores era.
  18. Be careful not to judge the Davis trade too quickly. We all know how streaky he is and he's raised his OPS from .387 to .486 in his last 2 games. If he goes on one of his 2 week hot streaks, he might be over .800 by Mothers Day. Considering how Nottingham is playing I doubt either side is too happy at the moment.
  19. I get completely why they traded Segura and why they picked up much of Hill's contract in exchange for Diaz. I have no idea what possible benefit the Anderson/Wagner portion was unless it was to flip Anderson down the road.
  20. Reed also bulked up too. He seems to take his improvement to the next level seriously. Flores was really a one to zero tool player in the minors. No power, no speed, average fielder, decent hitter whose main strength was drawing walks.
  21. IF he doesn't lose this game, he will blow up the pen. We just got a break yesterday without having to use it, now Peralta will make a mess out of it - 43 pitches in two innings. Do the Math! Its April, they have a full pen and the DH. I wouldn't sweat it. Worse case they use a guy for 4 innings and rest him a bit.
  22. Well yes, 5-8 is bad, and projected out it's bad. But the pyth 3-10 is REALLY bad, projected out would be 37 wins. D: I think his point is 5-8 still projects to 62-100. Yes the Pythag is worse but the stats (.215 BA, 5.40 ERA, etc etc etc) all say 100 losses any way you slice it. If you are a glass half full guy, the team has played some good teams so maybe when Phil and Atlanta come to town things will look up.
  23. 3B Walsh 2B Gennett LF Braun DH Lucroy 1B Carter CF Nieuwenhuis SS Villar RF Flores C Maldonado P Peralta
  24. WOOF! What you call WOOF I call all part of the plan. You'll be thanking me in June 2017 for showing you the awesomeness of the 2016 season.
  25. Really none of the trades have been of any tangible value to our organization but its still VERY early. Rogers for two higher ceiling/low floor guys wasnt a bad move especially since this is a "rebuilding" year and Carter has been adequate at 1B at a very low cost.
