  1. Some old school stats for you: Runs scored: 43 (20th) Runs Given Up: 75 (29th) Pythagorean W/L: 3-10 Team batting average: .215 (27th) Team ERA: 5.40 (29th) Fielding Pct: .975 (28th)
  2. Well the good news is Flores is playing almost as well as Buxton so far. I would have lost that bet.
  3. The Twins have almost no offense at all with a team OPS of 644. The Brewers are at 658. However their pitching is pretty decent with a team ERA of 3.44. The Brewers have a 5.19 team ERA.
  4. Herrera, Peralta, Supak, and Missaki because that will tell me a bit about Stearns' ability to judge talent and the direction of the rebuild.
  5. Turning a journeyman 1B into an athletic but raw CF and a former 2nd round pick P is good business. Yes, Broxton looked horrible and he earned every bit of the demotion but the trade itself was what the Brewers should be doing.
  6. The team batting average is 215. The offense is averaging 3.3 per game. I'd say the Broxton Flores CF experiment is not the answer. Reed should be the CF by the end of April.
  7. At the end of the day, Gallardo was an effective pitcher, no doubt and Im not suggesting he wasnt a good pitcher when it was counted up in the stat sheet. But sheesh he was the anti Maddux in terms of economy of pitches.
  8. Already forget about Yovani Gallardo? Nelson has had two good starts, but no need to jump the gun here. Gallardo was painful to watch. Im not just saying Nelson is a good pitcher, I said he is enjoyable to watch. Gallardo was the king of the 20 pitch 1-2-3 inning and that just isnt fun to watch on TV.
  9. Maybe he's not any good at CF? You can't just make players what they aren't. Well we know he can play some CF and while he might not be a good defender there he wont be an embarrassment. The guy is an OF, its not like we are asking him to play 3B. Broxton and Flores (who is also not a natural CF) are a combined 3-29 with no XBH, 2 walks and 15 Ks. Yes its early, and obviously the Brewers will give them every possible chance, but Id think Reed has more to offer than either of those two.
  10. Nelson is getting close to must see TV for me. He is a really enjoyable pitcher to watch out there, the first righty I can remember like that since Sheets.
  11. Id really like to see a Braun-Reed-Santana OF. The offense has scored 28 runs in 9 games (while giving up 50). Neither Broxton nor Flores looks like they can cut it as a regular CF and while Reed's D wont be great there, his bat surely would be better than either. He hasnt played any CF at CS so Im guessing that is not in the Brewers plans but having an offensive black hole at 3B and CF makes it tough to score runs.
  12. Reed sure looks like a much better option than either Broxton or Flores and yet he hasn't played at all in CF? I wonder what that is about.
  13. Id take him on only if they were willing to add significant prospects to the package.
  14. At this point we really don't know if Stearns is a good or bad GM.
  15. Im not disagreeing, only that a starting catcher being moved midseason is pretty rare. With Tex and Detroit both losing catchers, it would seem to be a sellers market.
  16. That would be unusual for a starting catcher to move him in July. We just had two catcher injuries, are we hoping for three?
  17. The bullpen minus Freeman and Pena has been excellent so far. Pretty impressive consider losing KRod and the injuries.
  18. I'm not saying give up on Jungmann at all. I actually like him quite a bit. You trot him out there in another 5 days. But yesterday this game was all but lost after the 3rd because we tried to get through as many innings with him as we could. And for no real reason. You have a day off today and you have guys like Cravy, Cappy, etc... who are a dime a dozen so use them and try to hold the fort and just maybe the offense could've got going. Chances are we still lose by a bunch but it might give you a punchers chance. The offense had scored 3.5 runs per game coming into yesterday. After the second inning it was pretty much over. The goal at that point was to see if Jungmann could pull himself out of it like Kuechel did on Sunday after his nightmare first. Obviously he didnt do it, but there is no reason to go through an entire bullpen in early April on a lost cause game.
  19. Nelson looks like a legitimate Ace and the pitcher we saw in the minors. Jeffries looks like a confident closer who has been doing this all his career.
  20. Hitting the pitcher 8th has cost the Brewers today.
  21. Then Stearns gamble paid off. Get it done.
  22. Like everyone else, I want to thank you for the Link Report! Its an incredible resource and well put together.
