  1. Boy if he turns out anything like Pete Alonso we've done ok for ourselves.
  2. Any viability to piggy back Andrews with someone at MKE in your mind? With ongoing injuries I wonder if it would be feasible to get 3-4 inning starts out of him short term?
  3. Not awesome but 2:21 is pretty svelte, you can sign me up for more of that.
  4. Whatever the first season is when he plays 80 games for the big league club, if he shows any level of aptitude I'd offer the Acuña contract after that season, but probably adjusted for inflation. Something like 8 years, $105-110 million.
  5. Anyone but Frelick (Chourio goes without saying)
  6. Oh boy. Did we trade one of the SPs?
  7. I think asking the question and worshipping billionaires are two different things entirely. I think you are making some value inferences as to the OPs way of thinking that frankly aren't really supported by the facts as they exist. I'm as pro player as exists but BAMtech has literally nothing to do with the game and I think the owners are well within their rights to treat it as separate, unrelated income. I'm not saying it makes me feel warm and fuzzy but rich people get access to sweetheart deals that us regular folks will never see on a daily basis. I hope Mark allocates some into the budget but I won't be as harsh as I would with something like profit sharing from large market teams.
  8. They have a history of these things not aging well...
  9. Ok but what about when my thoughts actually are superior to everyone elses?
  10. Well if our rookie OFs stink at least it will put us in good shape for future classes of QB draft picks. Wait, have I confused my teams again?
  11. I've got a feeling they are going far, hope I'm wrong. As far as villains for this season go, I'm looking no further than June 7th. Brewers have a 2-1 season series lead over the Phillies and a 2-1 game lead heading into the 9th when Hader gives up 2 homers to blow his first save of the season and Pablo Reyes strands the bases full (in what would be his last plate appearance in Milwaukee until August) in the bottom of the 9th to lose 3-2. Close that one out and we tie the head to head tiebreaker and clinch today on intradivision record.
  12. Are you suggesting there's more to offensive performance than batting average?
  13. I feel somewhat similarly. I would much rather they and he do better in the playoffs than say LA OR STL, but it hurts me none to see him struggle.
  14. I'm sorry but who asked for logic? Emotional reactions only please.
  15. Is #2 good? Just the first loser.
  16. 12-34 now, might be time to move him to Biloxi.
  17. Not excusing Bush's past but if that's your line on irony, there's probably no team in professional sports that could credibly be considered a family event. Don't mistake a lack of public knowledge for a clean slate.
  18. Gasser certainly top 10, Ruiz will depend on your scouting service of choice IMO. *edit* Honestly Gasser might be the top pitcher in the system now.
  19. For me, Williams moves to closer and Rogers goes into the 8th. Lamet fits our guys that can pitch from the pen or start profile that we seem to like. Ruiz is interesting, worst case fills a gap at AAA but I think he could be a playoff add on the basis of his running alone. Gasser obviously has the interesting tools and whether or not he continues to develop probably determines the success or failure of this deal. I was not one for holding on to him until his dead was done and we were not going to pay him so I see this as a deal that keeps us competitive short term while adding a couple interesting prospects long term.
  20. I will freely admit that I'm basing this on gut and projection but I feel stronger about Chourio than any of the "hits". None of the "misses" were talked about the way Chourio has been to this point. Of course anything is possible, see the 2007 Rockies, I just don't particularly feel like we have that 'Team of Destiny' vibe at this point. I do get the idea that you should strike when the iron is hot but the outs that an organization like ours has are much more limited than someone like the Dodgers, Yankees, etc... If we didn't win and someone like Soto (unlikely) or Corbin (pretty likely) were to take a step back by some percentage it would be potentially catastrophic for us. The closer we come to the end of contracts for guys like Corbin, Woody, Soto, etc... the likelier you are to get deals where you get 75 cents for your dollar. Our organization is not well placed to handle that and as mentioned by someone else, I think we would be looking at an Orioles style rebuild which would be harmful to the team and the fan base in general, at a time when baseball is struggling to grow fan support.
  21. What does if the pitching holds really mean though when our closer has spent the last month getting beat up and multiple starters have battled injuries? I'm all for optimism but we're more than just one hitter away on current form. I will freely admit that a large part of my hesitancy is around the fact that I feel like Chourio is the best prospect we've had in my lifetime (35 years). I don't believe that if we traded him for Soto and then traded Soto in a few years that we'd get anything even close to like value back for what would, at that point, be a rental.
  22. We're more than Soto away from the WS, I'd pass because the asking price is (correctly) way too high. I don't think it's impossible that Chourio tracks a Soto like path to the bigs so I'm not trying to trade him at the start of the path for somewhere nearer the end of club control.
  23. My breakdown has always been something like: Div 1: SEA, Oak, SF, LV Div 2: LAD, LAA, SD, AZ Div 3: Tex, Hou, Col, KC Div 4: Min, MKE, CHC, CHW Div 5: Det, Cin, Cle, Tor Div 6: TB, Miami, Atl, STL Div 7: Bal, PHI, Pitt, Wash Div 8: NYY, NYM, Bos, Montreal Ideally I'd move TB to Montreal though and place a new team (either Nashville or Charlotte) into Div 6.
  24. I can't imagine they do any realignment before prospective expansion. Eight divisions of 4 just makes too much sense.
  25. Yeah they are terrible at developing talent lately, why bother.
