  1. It's really pathetic. Out of the 8 position players: 1. 4 could be DFA'd tomorrow. (Anderson, Winker, Adames, Tapia). 2. 2 could be sent to AAA tomorrow. (Weimer, Turang). Thats not even getting into Miller looking horrid at 1b. W00f.
  2. Yep. Guaranteed 6 IP with 2 runs or less.
  3. Sadly, I agree that this has become a directionless franchise. For a small market team that is scary. The culprit is the "bite of the apple" approach. Not rebuilding properly and not buying to win big. I hope to god I am wrong and the sell off of Burnes, Woodruff, Williams begins this summer. If the Brewers would trade those three guys they would instantly, 1. Fix the payroll problem, 2. Rebuild the minor league system. May not be the top rated farm but it would be top 3.
  4. This feels like 2022 on repeat. Time to sell sell sell....
  5. I just noticed that Reese Olson made his MLB debut for the Tigers the other day. 5 IP, 2H, 6 SO. Looked filthy and took a no-no into the 6th. That trade for Daniel Norris might come back to be a real big stinker. Hope I'm wrong but at worst Olson looks like a good late inning reliever and at best a mid-rotation starter.
  6. As folks have said above, hell no! Freddy is 27 and the Brewers have him until 30. He's not getting any younger, his number are down, and he's been injured. I would not even remotely consider an extension.
  7. Only the stupid Cardinals would schedule a night game on get-away day.
  8. Boushley is 28 and has never pitched in the MLB. Think Jason Alexander smoke and mirrors when you consider Boushley.
  9. Eventually he will be bumped to the bottom of the lineup. Then he will be dropped from the starting lineup and into the 4th/5th outfielder role. When he stinks as a 4th/5th outfielder he will be released. Probably two years or so from that happening. I highly doubt he is ever a trade candidate.
  10. At 1 year and $3.5 million I find it hard to hate this deal. Three possibilities here: A. Anderson is horrible and the Brewers DFA him in May/June. This would result in the Brewers eating about $2million. Not ideal but not disasterous. B. At only age 29, Anderson has a career year. He makes $5.5 million, Brewers get a steal. Anderson gets paid next offseason. Everyone is happy. C. Anderson is very average and everyone goes in a new direction next year. There really is just nothing disastrous about a 1 year deal with a max salary of $5.5 million.
  11. I have very little doubt one of these guys is gone. I would think its Hiura with his poor glove and $2 million salary.
  12. I agree with the OP that all three decisions contributed. However, I must add that the Yelich deal also haunted the Brewers. It has been haunting the Brewers since March 2020 and will be haunting the Brewers the next 6 years. The Brewers are paying Yelich to be a middle of the lineup slugger. He has been more or less league average. From what I see the Brewers paid Yelich about $22 million this year. That could have gone a long way in FA last offseason or even in taking on salary in trades. That deal has haunted/handcuffed the franchise for years already and will continue to do so for the next half decade. It was a gaff that should cost Stearns his job. Expect more Chi Chi Gonzalez and Zach Godley dumpster diving going forward.

  14. Add me as +1 on the 19 being too low. The system may not be top 5. But is it at least top 15 if not top 10.

  16. I wouldn't go that far, yet. There is still lots of time for any one of Harrison, Brinson, and/or Diaz to figure it out and be a stud. That said, the early returns are looking good for Stearns.
  17. He's still only 26 and got rushed a bit by the Marlins, so I'm still pulling for him and hope he turns it around. But yeah, it hasn't been pretty. I was curious so I looked on Fangraphs: among non-pitchers with at least 700+ PA in their career, Brinson currently has the fifth lowest wOBA of the post-1900 era. Right ahead of fellow top-prospect-bust Brandon Wood. We won the trade no matter what though. Two MVP-caliber seasons for Yelich that carried us to the playoffs? Unless I'm forgetting something obvious, easily the best trade in franchise history. The Sabathia trade is probably the only one that is close. However, Brantley turned out to be a stud, so right now I would put the Yelich trade at #1.
  18. Get back to me in about two years. That said, your are right that the early returns on Brinson are absolutely horrid. And he's 24, so he's not even really young for getting a taste of the bigs.
  19. This is the key. If we turn around and trade off Santana or Shaw(then sign Moustakas)we may recoup a bunch of what we just gave up.
