  1. Yep. After doing a bit more research I am seeing Blalock as being a bit more than just a lottery ticket.
  2. Nailed it. He was a non-tender candidate this winter, so Arnold solved the problem ahead of time.
  3. Here is a writeup on McKendry from mid-June.... https://dknetwork.draftkings.com/2023/6/19/23766426/fantasy-baseball-top-prospects-minor-league-stats-video-gavin-williams-emmet-sheehan-henry-davis Evan McKendry, SP, Rays The last of our trio of starting pitching prospects to watch, McKendry has been on a tear at Triple-A of late, with a 2.01 ERA and 0.87 WHIP over his last eight starts. The former ninth-round pick has never cracked any top prospect lists, and he won’t light up any radar guns, but he has excellent command of his full arsenal — including a Bugs Bunny changeup. Given the injuries that have beset the Rays rotation this year, from Jeffrey Springs to Drew Rasmussen to Josh Fleming, it feels like only a matter of time before McKendry gets his chance in the Majors. There’s not a ton of strikeout upside here, but Tampa has been churning out viable starters from profiles like this for years now.
  4. Looks like this might have been a steal. Did we just take pre-advantage of a Rays 40-man roster crunch?
  5. I think its entirely possible and it scares the crap out of me. The Brewers made that mistake with Prince Fielder and IMHO it might have set the franchise back 2-3 years.
  6. You dont have to sell at the deadline before FA. Do that and teams know your against a wall and have to trade. Reasons to do it this year: a. Its an extreme sellers market. b. More control = better return. c. Avoid a possible injury next year.
  7. I agree with every last word of this post. Completly rudderless. Not "going for it" in the last years of Brunes and Woodruff, and not selling them in order to begin a light rebuild.
  8. Its a sellers market. Burnes would have been the class of the crop outside of Ohtani (whos not being traded). Haul would have been insane. So good, I bet the Brewers would have been back in contention in 2025.
  9. I would love to see the Brewers pick up someone like Alex Verdugo. However, my bet is that its someone like Tim Anderson.
  10. Thats what happens when one of two team go "all-in." And boy the Angels are going to stink in a few years when Ohtani is gone for nothing but a QO., The whole thing is incredibly disappointing to me. I dont see the Brewers as having a shot to make the World Series much less win it. If we had decided to trade it would have been a lot of fun to see what we could have gotten for Burnes, Williams, Caratini etc. If you're not going to "go for it" with Woodruff, Burnes, and Williams on the roster, then for gosh sakes, start the quick re-load now.
  11. You're right on. Almost everyone thinks they have a chance. The cubs are the prime example this year.
  12. The market has been described by a few, including Arnold, as being "slow developing." Tomorrow morning might be crazy. However, I think there are fewer sellers this year than most, and I think the deadline goes with a wimper. I expect the Brewers to make one more deal. But I expect it to be something minor. (i.e a crummy vet releiver or middle infielder.). In my opinion the "bite of the apple" approach means the half-arse approach. Arnold is going to "tweak" the team but not really make any major upgrades.
  13. Jones., Winker, and Perkins can be dfa'd any day.
  14. I find this Hiura stuff to be really funny. Here is the readers digest version of the situation: In March 2023 Hiura did not make the team. In March 2023 the Brewers decided Hiura was no longer part of the teams future plan moving forward and they put him on waivers. Not one other team wanted him. Hiura was then sent to AAA as minor league filler to help the Sounds. He is essentially now a AAAA player. Its a bummer but its facts. Hiura proved over a large MLB sample size: 1. He plays terrible defense. 2. He whiffs at an alarming rate. 3. He hits a few HR's, but not enough to overcome the whiffs.
  15. 10 year journeyman reliever with a 3.41 carreer ERA. He was signed last winter coming off tommy john. Only question is whether his best years are behind him? Could be really good, or could be DFA'd by Sept 1. He's only getting paid $850k this year. Brewers have a team option for 2024 with a $150k buyout. So $1 million guaranteed.
  16. There is your deadline bullpen acquistion. Better than picking up a bum like Daniel Norris or Matt Bush. Would think JC Mejia will be on his way out shortly.
  17. Should have been dfa'd 2 months ago.
  18. The Brewers shopping list is very simple: 1. DH 2. 1B. The Brewers production at these two positions have been so bad it wouldnt take much to upgrade. I guess if a slugging 3b or OF'er becomes availible on the cheap then I would also be fine DFA'ing Brian Anderson or Tyrone Taylor.
  19. Cruz has had a nice career. However, at this point I think he really is out of gas.
  20. If the Ddogers would really take him and his salary I would be THRILLED if the Brewers could get out from under that contract. That said, yeah, Yelich is probably untradeable unless the Brewers throw in money or take back another albatross deal.
  21. My fingers are crossed its some type of outside move/trade. However, more likely its Taylor or Urias.
  22. Maybe Pannone wanted to go to Korea and asked to be released. Brewers may have said, sure, but we want to get one appearance out of you first.
  23. Yep. He cashed in with a kbo team. Didn't understand bringing him up for one day only to release him.
  24. It's just a shame we gave Tapia like 2 million for a months work.
