  1. Probably not necessary to even list a second runner up. I mean that dude had a near -1 WAR…
  2. I honestly don't even know if a team would take Yelich with Burnes. David Stearns would have revived the concorde to fly Yelich with Hader if a team was that stupid to agree to that.
  3. He always looked and came off as a lazy bum...I thought it was just the lack of emotion and sweater. Seems like he kind of took his job for granted thinking he had a long leash and was riding the wave of success prior to him. Is it really a coincidence he had three widely successful years to start, but when the team really became only his recruits it tanked? He was on pace for 4 of the last 5 years taking the Badgers to an unranked season at the end. Maybe the Badgers are getting wiser and will dump Greg Gard soon too
  4. The Brewers originally wanted him when he came to the MLB and I think in retrospect they were fairly far into the sweepstakes. I also want to say they had interest at one point when the White Sox could have traded him. As far as cost, yes, he is old...but it also means it won't be a long-term commitment. Thus, the yearly average on any deal is going to be pretty darn high. With the DH now across MLB it is going to be really hard to outbid other teams for his services as many teams could easily improve greatly from signing him. Milwaukee is darn close to the Chicago he has gotten used to in the US though. If he isn't set on trying to ring chase with the best team possible, he could go the Aramis Ramirez route and stay in the Midwest. Could be a rare opportunity we benefit from our less fortunate geographical location.
  5. Chargers: Up by 2/Own 46/4th and 1/1:15 to go/Brown have zero timeouts They not only go for it, but throw the ball…FAIL TO MAKE IT. Browns only needing a field goal call a bunch of idiotic plays, but did get into realistic field goal range…but their rookie kicker missed it. Chargers are that dumb, yet still win.
  6. At least we ended up scoring in the second half.
  7. Comparing 1st and 2nd half…there can’t be many coaches worse than MLF since he took over the GB job.
  8. Haha, it isn’t out of the norm…thanks though. I know how to use the internet too.? Replacement level descriptions don’t need to be taken word for word (not to mention most definitions are pretty subjective)…just like WAR valuations shouldn’t be taken like gospel. Because if you do you can convince yourself Christian Yelich was underpaid last year.
  9. I don’t use fWAR, so…not really relevant to me. Again, I don’t care to nitpick one’s definition of replacement level to the end of time. The number of times he batted most certainly boosted his WAR this year, that really isn’t debatable. Which to me is relevant because he really isn’t that good to warrant batting almost 700 times. You could point out his OBP…but that is more reflective of how pathetic most of our lineup is at trying to get on base. I mean Adames is largely considered our best hitter and player, off the top of my head I’m pretty sure he ended up sub .300 He really wasn’t even a better hitter this year. Everything was nearly identical. His OPS+ saw a bit of a boost so I imagine the league batting was down or he just ended up with his good production happening at less hitter friendly ballparks. Not sure that says anything about his future ‘WAR value’…as both of those things may have just been fluky this year.
  10. I’m not going to sit here and nitpick everyone’s definition of a replacement level player. However, a replacement level player is not someone you can just freely sign for league minimum. Thats called garbage. To me, 0 WAR is not replacement level. An average team is not trotting out 0 WAR OFers…or even anywhere for that matter. I’d say Andrew McCutchen is more like a replacement level guy. Someone you could easily just replace with dozens of options. McCutchen was about 1 WAR value…seems about right. Last year Yelich had a 1.2 WAR…This year it was up, but as I said before that was largely due to batting a ridiculous amount of times. So again, I don’t think Yelich is that far off being a level of production that we could easily replace with a random dude on a one year deal. My concern is more him being healthy and on the field. His stat line isn’t a disaster when he plays 155 games. However his stat line in like 120 games is a different story depending on what is filling in for him when he is on the IL. Of course if he moves to DH not sure how I will feel about it.
  11. Yelich is a lot closer to replacement level than I think people want to realize. His WAR was 2.5, but he also had nearly 675 plate appearances. So he got to pad his WAR number being at the top of the line up and being surprisingly healthy. His stats weren’t that much different than last year (1.2 WAR). Not sure he will appear that often long term. He also played LF (poorly at that). His production is not very impressive for the position. For instance, you could have simply played Tyrone Taylor everyday and gotten a higher WAR player. He put up 2.1 WAR in nearly half the PAs. On a team trying to compete…Yelich just isn’t that good of a LF and honestly pushes pretty close to replacement level.
  12. Brewers fans next week watching all the teams that actually tried to get better at the deadline play baseball.
  13. Watch Burnes blow out his elbow from end of season fatigue. Out all 2023 and then put up a 5 ERA in 2024. because, Brewers
  14. Leipold saying he doesn't want to leave doesn't mean much. However, the way he talked about PC averaging 9 wins a year and losing was an interesting comment. He definitely might avoid a job with unreasonable expectations that he is almost destined to fail at. Also, I am not sure Wisconsin would necessarily outbid Kansas either. Leipold is like a holy grail to the Kansas program, I can imagine they will pay up to try and keep him. Will Wisconsin really be dying to have Leipold that bad? It isn't like PC got a lot to start and even now he is paid pretty low compared to many Big Ten coaches. Wisconsin definitely has much higher long-term potential...but you gotta be good enough for Wisconsin standards and clearly that is a high bar. Maybe Wisconsin is a dream job, but maybe he really just doesn't want to move again...who knows. Feels like a moot point though, I would be shocked if they give the middle finger to Leonard without a real chance.
  15. We didn't even need to keep Hader....just not replace him with a pile of poop.
  16. #1 Little chance Burnes takes a 5 year deal and there is no way he is barely more expensive than Woodruff. I just don't see that. I could definitely see Woodruff taking about 5/$120mil though. #2 I honestly want nothing to do with an Adames extension. He couldn't even muster an OBP over .300 this year....no thanks. His offense is barely above average as is. Wait till age takes down his offense and defense. Dude will tank just like Baez.
  17. I think I gave them a 'C' because I assumed Stearns would find guys that would cancel out most of the loss of Hader in the regular season. He didn't...not even close. His grade is an 'F' and it is going to be almost impossible for that to change...regardless of what the prospects do. They would have to become really good players to make up for it. He traded one of our best players and did nothing else at the deadline. He flat out blew the season with his awful deadline. Didn't we lead the division by like 4 games...and he did that? Trading Hader and doing nothing of effort to improve the team was just unacceptable.
  18. Luckily Sling is owned by Dish..,because Dish cannot simply lose ESPN and all the other Disney owned channels.
  19. I’m guessing the only reason his potential for a .300 average was only mentioned because he has a .300 average at that moment…which he has due to just ridiculous luck.
  20. Mitchell has a BABIP of like .600. Let’s chill before thinking he can be anywhere near a .300 hitter any time soon. His career K% is also like 25% in the minors. So he may not help your reduction of K’s with RISP. Frelick and Turang definitely have faired much better in that regard of K% though. Frelick’s is bonkers low at AAA this year.
  21. Figure out if you want to seriously compete or trade Burnes and Adames. Woodruff too if we can’t agree on an extension. If all we are going to do is plug in a bunch of rookies and rearrange deck chairs I would rather just trade these guys while they still have multiple years of control to garner massive returns. Not saying they can’t compete or even win the division, but good chance we miss the postseason or just get quickly eliminated as a weak WC team. Something tells me 2023 is very likely to go similar to 2019 or 2022 after we puts around this off-season…and we are going to wish we just blew it up. Burnes/Woodruff/Adames aren’t going to be riden to FA. While we could still get value next off-season, if someone has a major injury or a big down year it could really cripple their trade value. Can you imagine if Hader had been terrible the entire first half instead of just the month leading up to the deadline? Just something to consider. I actually think it is highly possible one of the aces gets shipped out this off-season if neither will take an extension. Not sure we want to be attempting to trade two elite starters at the same time.
  22. I am guessing part of the logic is placing these where gaps are going to exist. Large population areas are going to have the demand to build them on their own. I skimmed through it and it looked like Wausau was skipped too. Of course they already have 8 Tesla chargers and I think they are set to get another 8 non Tesla fast chargers at WalMart.
  23. I think the Brewers could turn around, tinker some stuff, and win 10 more games than they did this year. You hope to luck into some better health and hopefully don't pull off a total 'F' with the bullpen...which can be fluky. Everyone acts like that would be insanity and they would be lucky to win a WC....but it is pretty standard stuff that happens to teams every year. Even with Stearns absolutely bombing the deadline we are still set to win 85-87 games. They could definitely go into 2023 and then blow up half the team in July or afterwards. They went from 95 wins last year to this...they are just about as likely to do the same the opposite direction next year. I think I would prefer a long term approach that is a little more clever...but it is a realistic option.
  24. I think Leonard is the safe pick and certainly he is someone they greatly respect as a defensive coach that they didn't want to lose. However, he is the most boring guy to pick too. The offense is stale, they either suck at recruiting offense or suck at coaching them, and they really lack getting athletic guys on offense. So the answer to those problems and righting the ship for the future...is hiring a defensive minded coach? I guess it will be interesting to see how he does in the coming years. Wisconsin may be defense first and run first....that is fine, but PC was honestly a major failure in the QB/WR department. It has really caught up to them in recent years where good RBs can't even save that trainwreck of an offense. How much change will happen to the coaching staff going with the in-house guy? How much will Leonard change from what he has been used to being under for years? I guess in a way, you really limit that new vision and mindset just handing the ball to Leonard. At the same time, I don't know if the risk of going outside would be worth the risk. At some point one just has to accept the reality that once expansion comes the Badgers are likely going to get buried into the middle of the pack.
  25. I mean, is he though? I am pretty sure any person could sit on the sideline and run the ball 9/10 times with a good O-Line and what was yearly elite RBs. He has a lot of 80+ ranked scoring offenses for a very very good coach
