  1. Not sure i the Rockies have been asked, but I am assuming they are just mentally preparing and assuming like that game is on the schedule. If it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. All the games happen on the same time on Sunday (essentially) so it isn't like they would spin around in their chairs all night waiting for a 9:00 PM game to finish.
  2. The best case is loses by the Reds/Cardinals/Padres. The Padres play at 9pm or something so if that would be the clinching moment the Cardinals would have to stay up till like midnight just to celebrate right away. It would be the most miserable and anticlimactic clinch possible.
  3. The outfield. Guessing they would have kicked someone like Yelich to first. I suppose Garcia could have gone to first as that logjam would have been unjammed with Garcia leaving in the offseason. I doubt they would have got Reynolds and then stuck him at 1B. Reynolds can play all three OF positions and switch hits so he would have played a lot. I'm guessing they would have booted JBJ or Cain (or made Pitt take one and then Brewers pay the salary) and sent Taylor down Ahh, at first I only saw LF on his BRef. Definitely would have been the starting CFer.

  5. I saw the headline of this article and wondered if PC was about to throw himself under the bus. Spoiler, he just blames the rest of the players. https://www.yahoo.com/news/chryst-says-wisconsins-troubles-offense-220158349.html
  6. Alright offense, lets get a win for Woodruff so he doesn't have a losing record on the year....jeez.
  7. The last time Lauer gave up more than 3 runs in a start was June 14th. Actually of his 19 starts, 17/19 have results in three or less runs (earned runs). Peralta has two 4 earned run starts this month...of course he only had one prior to that the entire season. Regardless of who we go with both guys are pretty good locks to keep you in the game and not implode in the first inning or two.
  8. I think it is an absolute disservice to Lauer to call him the 'hot hand'. He has a 2.04 ERA in the second half and on the season has a sub 3.00 ERA. In all reality he has had a stellar year himself. He is just easily shadowed because he had a slow start to the year. It isn't like people are clamoring for him after a few starts or even a month...he as been good for quite awhile.
  9. Eagles were faced with a 3 and 24 with a little under 2 minutes in the half. McCarthy opted not to use one of his timeouts. When the Eagles predictably didn’t make the first down he, again, just decided not to call a timeout. He let the Eagles just milk the clock. Could have had a solid 90 seconds for a drive and he gets the ball back with 11 seconds.
  10. No, it wasn't. Down slightly, yes, but a pitcher's velocity is up and down all year long. There isn't anything super concerning about his velocity in the last month or so that would hint he may be hitting a wall. That being said Peralta's usage lately (and performance) doesn't seem like he is assured the third spot in the rotation. I think I would go with the hot hand and the guy who has been cruising in his starts down the stretch. I have never been a fan of having Peralta big the big moment pitcher...he makes me the most nervous of anyone. I would then probably have Houser on hand for the emergency guy in either the Lauer or Peralta start, ideally. Burnes Woodruff Lauer Peralta
  11. Their road record would help temper any nerves if they are tied 1-1. I also think pitching always gives you the upper hand in any given game. I think looking at every game by itself we will likely be odds on favorite to win. I would only be really nervous if we are down 2-0 and a little nervous in a 1-2 situation. Funny enough this is probably the best set up for a 5 game series of any of the three mentioned.
  12. That thing is absolutely dumb and worthless to who will actually win though. Here are the last 4 NL Cy Youngs and where they ranked in the ESPN thing: Bauer - 7th DeGrom - Unranked DeGrom - 5th Scherzer - 3rd I am guessing if you compared ESPN's Top 10 to the actual voting in those years it would be about as accurate as a draft prediction. Oddly it used to be pretty good at showing the winner back in Pre-2016 times...but the overall rankings still sucked. This years rankings look like they are going to continue the recent trend of terrible accuracy. Guessing there is a good chance Hader doesn't get a single vote. There are usually around 10 different guys to get votes and there are already 3 Brewers alone that might get a vote over him. A lot of pretty good starters as is, going to be tough for a reliever to get attention. EDIT: I am guessing the shaky accuracy of recent years is due to it weighing Wins/Losses into the equation. Something that has certainly become much less important in voting over the year.
  13. Padres are going to try and play spoiler, but they are also in serious risk of not even finishing .500 on the year. Facing the Dodgers and Giants on the road is probably not going to be an easy task. Also, the Blue Jays are in danger of missing the postseason with a run different well over 150. The Yankees and Red Sox aren't even close to half that. Tough luck.
  14. I believe yesterday was the first time in franchise history the Brewers clinched the division with the final out at home. I keep seeing people compare it to 2011, but that really isn't totally accurate. In 2011 their win didn't actually clinch the division. The division was clinched when the Cardinals lost. Kind of different situations in my opinion.
  15. [sarcasm]He's definitely tanking to spite the team.[/sarcasm] [sarcasm]I heard he didn't really value or care about winning.[/sarcasm]
  16. Looking at the ESPN rankings, no one any better ranked than the guys taking the field. 76-77 grade WRs.
  17. It appeared the Cards game was on the scoreboard with every other game.
  18. Brewers are blessed with their media team top to down. Sophia is dedicated to her craft. I believe she won an award at one point, largely to her commitment to Spanish interviews.
  19. Thankfully we dominated into mid September and grew a massive divisional lead. If not the Cardinals would have likely done exactly what the Brewers did to the Cubs in 2018. The Cubs played well down the stretch in 2018, but we dominated everything in sight to win the divisional. We flat out didn’t give such an opportunity to the Cardinals.
  20. I haven’t been blessed with many historical moments in person in my short while following the Brewers, but this is up there there. Probably behind Woodruffs NLCS homer. What a moment, what team. Really hope this isn’t the climax. What a year, keep it going.
  21. So now that Scherzer is a candidate the innings pitched thing doesn't matter any more? It’s because those two have gone way ahead of the pack, nothing more than that. The competition is between two low inning guys. Though I won’t be surprised if Burnes doesn’t even end up #2 in the end.
  22. Yup, I mentioned this before. I fully expect there has to be at least one voter that will dock him for that.
  23. Anyone actually think they could eventually bench Mertz? Guessing they wouldn’t do it until he blows any chance at bowl game and then they may just let Wolf try for the heck of it.
  24. #1 Hypoallergenic genes that are proven get passed down pretty reliably. #2 It is actually an incredibly smart dog breed.
  25. I think Mertz largely sucks because of himself, but at the end of the day we are the ones coaching him. So why can’t we make him at least competent? I think that would concern any decent recruit. As others have said the system is still horrendous for a QB to play in. I was really hoping Mertz would be good and they would make a bit more of a pass friendly system (and continue to get good QB recruits), but the system never changed and then Mertz has proven to kind of suck.
