  1. Wow...dude has been just fine his entire career up until this year. Like 99% of players, he probably isn't in the equation, but kinda harsh on a 22 year old who has had a .755 OPS in his MiLB career. I remember when people got bored with Trent Grisham...he seems to be turning out okay. Lutz was a HS guy...they can have rocky paths and take awhile to blossom.
  2. Max Scherzer has earned it. Good for him, incredible year and incredible finish to it. To do what he has done at 36, wow...HOF career. I don't really care that Burnes won't win it. The Brewers have had so much success in recent years I want the WS. Individual awards and postseason appearances just aren't bringin the satisfaction at this point.
  3. As depressing as it is being a Packers fan sometimes…at least we aren’t Vikings fan. Another short field goal to win, missed. Funny Tweet:
  4. Tony Romo would be a decent color guy if he didn’t have to over commentate dumb stuff. Every time the officials pause a play the dude insists on giving a play by play on the dumbest fake conversations between the refs.
  5. As I said in that thread, I am thinking they are almost forced to by MLB due to the apparel stuff. Fanatics probably requires it. Not sure if they are forced to play around with champagne and beer…but it wouldn’t shock me if they have to.
  6. Wait, is this theoretical or you actually talking about how poorly they're playing now? Because if it's the latter..........I don't really now what to say. I'm hoping (and assuming) it's the former. He was definitely referring to 'IF' we were to get swept by the Cardinals and are performance at that point. Not right now, as of September 16th.
  7. I think we will see a heavy dose of shorter outings. That is the beauty of the postseason. Ashby, Houser, and Lauer will pitch quite a bit. Especially in games they know the BP is depleted. If our postseason run goes awhile I am pretty confident one of the 'Big 3' will get pulled early even though they are pitching well...whether that be for a PH opportunity or just based on analytics. Armchair managers will be ready to fire away.
  8. This is the same fanbase that booed Aaron Rodgers for Brett Favre retiring and then getting traded. Something that had nothing to do with Rodgers. I am sure he will get boo birds, but I would also guess most with applaud him as most know the reason for the last decade plus is certainly not Aaron Rodgers. That and the fact he is the starting QB and is really good...so usually you get cheers.
  9. Reds are still only a 1.5 games back. As miserable as they have been lately they really haven't moved far. We are pretty much cemented in as the #2 at this point.
  10. Brandon Woodruff and Freddy Peralta would do pretty good too if all they had to do was pitch 2-3 innings.
  11. Yah, I am pretty nervous about the guy. The power is gone and while he has hit for a nice average lately the eye test doesn't really make me feel like he is a .300 hitter. I am sure his BABIP is through the roof during his hot streak. Even worse the OBP, which many figured was unrealistic given his lack of hitting, is really tumbling. When he was hitting .340 for awhile you would expect it to be lower, because you are hitting the ball. However, the last few weeks he has been garbage and the OBP hasn't been there. A bit different from early in the season when he was struggling. He has been all over the board the last year and a half I just don't know if we have really seen whatever long term Yelich is. It just seems so hard to believe the guy is going to tank and be worse than even his Miami days. He certainly makes it hard to see him being like he was in Miami from the eye test this year. Just really disappointing to watch. I have not really dug deep down into his advanced stats to understand his struggle because it is so depressing. I expected Hiura to tumble, but not Yelich.
  12. I can always count on you providing a comment with great insight. There is already a Yelich thread that has been going all season long and another started to see if Yelich was the next Chris Davis. You post frequent enough the last few months you had to of seen one of these threads before. You are providing information that has been beat to death for an almost full two seasons. If you need great insight on this topic there are already lengthy threads with all the data in the universe. viewtopic.php?f=63&t=40578 viewtopic.php?f=63&t=40919
  13. Woodruff's postseason rotation spot in question? Free pass because this is an IGT thread, but just so you know, it is not in question.
  14. Except that would be giving up the few years of FA that will fuel his massive payday. Not to mention he would then have to perform even farther into his 30s to get that payday. At that point he might as well just take a massive contract extension from the Brewers and call it a day. Burnes would be in a better position to give up some FA time as he would still be fairly young when hitting the open market. He also hasn't had an arbitration salary yet. I find this notable because if one of them blew out their elbow next April they would have their 2022 and 2023 salary guaranteed. The Brewers would obviously roll the dice on either coming back from surgery strong. Using that logic Woodruff has got to have at least $20mil in future money assured while Burnes may not even have half that assured. Heck you could argue the Brewers or another team would still roll the dice another year regardless of performance. Though the way Burnes talks about himself (incredibly confident) I don't see him that scared of the risk. That is the problem though. They have been so good and are fairly close to FA their arbitration years might as well be guaranteed, at minimum, their 2022 salary.
  15. I mean, this was more or less what Stearns referred to him as when they traded for Adames.
  16. I am not sure the Bucks/Brewers have a ton to do with the general Packers fatigue many are feeling. It doesn't help when the year starts and there are a million scenarios to be worse than last year and the only way to have a good season is winning it all. The media attention surrounding the team cannot possibly get any more insufferable. It was annoying before they kept coming up short, it was annoying before this offseason with Rodgers. Everyone knows the entire season is going to be endless garbage attempts to stir the Rodgers pot and annoying click bait articles. We all know the upcoming offseason is going to be insufferable drama even if we win the Super Bowl. Likely going to end with a HOF QB being traded. We then will have a 2022 season with the media constantly pointing out what Rodgers is doing and comparing how much Love sucks compared to him. At this point you can't watch or read about the Packers without it being negative.
  17. I would guess the Brewers are somewhat required to do something because of the 'on the field' merch/apparel that goes with clinching a spot.
  18. People were getting into a conversation about Woodruff extensions in the Houser/Lauer thread, but seems like a more appropriate place to put my thoughts for fun. Woodruff is a bit older and his FA contract would start at 32...so he is in a bit of an awkward position. If he keeps it up till FA he is probably looking at minimum 6/$180mil. Add in the arby years and he is at like $225mil or so? Maybe a realistic ceiling of $250mil over the course of that time if he gets $35mil a year. Zack Greinke would be the best comp because he signed his contract with the D Backs to start at age 32. Guessing you would have to offer at least 9/$180mil for him to consider forgoing FA forever. Not saying they should do it (they shouldn't) or I would (I wouldn't). Though watching guys like Scherzer dominate deep into their 30s makes it tempting. Corbin Burnes is just never going to happen. He is well on his way to a $300mil contract if he keeps it up. There is no way he takes the discount needed to even be able to consider if we can afford him. A big problem with extending one is we would almost certainly do exactly what we did with Yelich and lose out on a year(s) of cheaper control. Burnes/Woodruff are still very cheap the next three years, all things considered. Extend one and suddenly that is a huge salary on the books, instead of a bargain. You could just keep the next few years cheap, but then you have massive salaries on the back end. The Brewers need to take advantage of those arbitration salaries to fill out the rest of the roster. Not make those years expensive and add a bunch of mid 30s disaster salaries in the future.
  19. Yes, the Cardinals have ruined too many Brewer playoff hopes. We owe them a few. Not to mention I couldn't stomach them having success in the postseason that is better than ours. If the Reds go streaking and beat us to go to the World Series I would be able to sleep at night.
  20. If we were doing FWIW, Attanasio is a big Braun fan and their families are incredibly close. Now that I think of it >> I’m guessing Attanasio will ask Braun and if Braun wants it, he gets it.
  21. I think it comes down to our franchise. We don't really get guys here for 10+ years and certainly not many of Braun's caliber. It will probably be decades before another such deserving candidate exists, unless Yelich revives his career as an AS caliber guy.
  22. I think if Yelich was still mashing they wouldn't. Yelich seemed primed to be that beloved star and likely HOFer with the Brewers. That would have given them someone to put in the rafters in somewhat recent history. It wouldn't seem necessary to put Braun, with his non HOF troubled past, up there. Now that Yelich has crashed and burned maybe they see Braun as a better number retirement candidate. If not they may not have a number retirement worthy player for decades. I mean, there really isn't a single guy on the current team that has much chance unless Yelich rebounds. I would prefer them to not, as he wasn't a HOFer and due to his rocky PED situation...but it wouldn't bother me a whole lot if they did.
  23. EDIT Below is a funny meme. Sorry if I let you down and caused you to yell at small kids to get off your lawn.
