  1. I think it helps that no one really cares if we end up the #1 seed. Seems most want to avoid the Dodgers and aren't as concerned about whoever comes out of the NL East. Some certainly want the #1 seed for home field advantage, but that is a much smaller group of people. For many losing the division and grabbing the #1 seed are both negative outcomes.
  2. Different, yes...but same in the sense they kicked him off the team instantly. Though if I recall Cephus was not only kicked off the team, but they kicked him out of the school. I am guessing the team doesn't buy his story or they have enough information that he was part of the problem that transpired.
  3. According to Crawford, he was attacked in his dorm room by Antwan Roberts, another frosh RB that's been suspended indefinitely, and used the knife to defend himself. I am curious what led Roberts to do this if that is, indeed, what happened. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/college/uw/2021/08/31/wisconsin-football-dismisses-tailback-loyal-crawford-suspends-another/5671805001/ Hopefully this isn't Cephus 2.0.
  4. Loyal Crawford, an Eau Claire native, has been released from the team. I just skimmed the article, but it appears he got into a fight, he had a knife, and got arrested on multiple charges.
  5. Thanks, maybe I will just start connecting through my computer to avoid the ads. Their ads really don't bother me until I get the same one 200 times in a day. On another note I tried Little Ceasers last weekend for fun...easily the worst pizza I have ever had in my life. I would have rather had a totinos party pizza over that garbage. I suspected it was extra garbage and the wife did say she thought it was bad compared to the Little Ceasers she has had in the past. Still, everything about the pizza was bland. To me it really doesn't seem cheap or quick either. I can pick up a pizza at Dominos for similar price and get multiple toppings. Dominos is always super fast at making pizza too so I can basically order and by the time I get there it is done. Not to mention way better tasting. Safe to say I won't ever eat Little Ceasers again in my lifetime.
  6. Phillies have come storming back in the Wild Card race and the Cardinals are still quietly within striking distance (both 2.5 back).
  7. #2 Best Bunter - Kolton Wong #3 Best Pitcher - Brandon Woodruff #2 Best Change-Up - Devin Williams #2 Best Control - Corbin Burnes #2 Best Defensive Outfielder - Jackie Bradley Jr.
  8. Anyone know of any potential diamonds in the rough that aren't likely to be much this year, but 2022+ could be valuable? My league lets us keep two players and you keep them in the round drafted (and it progressively gets into a lower round as years go on). I like to snag a long term piece at the end of the draft as I can keep them as a 15th rounder next year if they are worth it. For instance last year I drafted TJ Hockenson in the 15th and get to keep him as such this year. I am considering just drafting J.K. Dobbins with my last pick. Something tells me no one in the league will think of drafting an IR guy for next year. The downside is he would fill my one injury slot for the entire year.
  9. Keston Hiura is a guy who can't play the field and at this point is miles away from figuring out how to even be average. So many questions surrounding a DH. Going to be pretty hard finding a trade partner. Not sure why the Blue Jays would ever consider trading Biggio for him.
  10. That is a perfectly fine record to be in a postseason chase, especially these days with two WC teams. They are on 87 win pace, teams have made the postseason many times with sub 90 wins. If they have a good month they win 90+...that seems more than acceptable. The Reds are lucky in the fact there is only really one other team challenging them for that spot. If the Padres suck this month the Reds can make it in not even playing well. It is a lot worse when there are 3-4 teams in the race for that last spot and one is likely to get hot requiring you to also play really well.
  11. Fixed it for you.... Well, yes, even the top of the draft has been pretty rough compared to 15-20 years ago. Still, if we drafted a guy Top 10 I would have expectations they could be a future potential star and help us win a Super Bowl. Barely in the first round? Yah, I don't like the sounds of those odds and pretty much expect fringe starter...anything past that is a bonus.
  12. They really thought they were onto something...
  13. Love really hasn't impressed me, but then again it is pre season. His supporting cast is going to do him absolutely no favors. His INT against Buffalo was a level of dumb that is hard to do, but as long as he learns from it and it isn't a common occurrence I really don't care. Love is a project....and probably likely to fail and never really be much, but that is the life of drafting a QB after the Top 10-15 picks of a draft. Not saying he will or won't...I just am realistic we didn't draft him #1 overall out of Alabama.
  14. I mean, yah. Much like the college playoff expansion this probably wouldn't happen for many many years. As far as how they add all these alliance non conference games, less conference games seems to be almost a given from what I have read. Maybe just one less...but maybe more than that, who knows. It is a big reason this probably never comes to fruition anywhere near it's current form.
  15. JBJ is going to be 32 years old and will amass 350+ PAs of an OPS waaaay under .600 and a .170ish average. I appreciate the optimism, but there is a 100% chance JBJ accepts his option. Who would even want him? And if they do why would he get more than near league minimum.
  16. Yes. For reference, go check out those starting rotations from the 1998 and 1999 teams. Anderson's 4-ish ERA would have put him square at the top of those Scott Karl-led rotations. Apologizes...I didn't know you were referencing a different century before some of these players were born. haha
  17. Pitching has been somewhat thin since 2012, but we usually had a guy have a nice year to go with the main pitcher (Gallardo/Lohse/Nelson) over the years. Guerra/Davies/Jungmann/etc. As I said though...the line between #2 and #3 and even #4 was pretty short.
  18. The funny thing is that there have been plenty of seasons where Anderson would have been one of the top two starters on the team, if not the #1 guy. Alright...lets not exaggerate. I would probably struggle to find a year where he would be the #2 guy. Though he would probably be closer than you would like.
  19. I mean, sure, you could twist it around to be "only a little more", but it is a lot more money. Almost 60% more than the option. That entire $19mil is arguably more than our entire off season budget after arby guys and filling the bottom of the roster. If it ain't 100% it is probably dang near close. Hence, why I mentioned Attanasio is probably opening up his wallet to make that risk worthy. Always possible they overpay for a guy because it is a one year deal and carries no long term risk. That is why they may not even mess around with it. They are already strapped for cash and I doubt they are dying to get Avi back. He isn't a consistent performer, there is decent risk regarding his performance, and we have a decent replacement already in house. Will Tyrone Taylor be better than Avi? Probably not...but is the gap big enough to warrant $18mil extra at the position? That seems really unlikely, especially if Avi regresses next year. I mean, yah, I can't envision Avi taking it. His worst case is probably 3/$36mil or something....but he would not be the first guy to have a dead market and suddenly find multi year offers non existent. I would guess he wants to try and find a big pay day being 30+ years old.
  20. Only way they offer him that QO is if Attanasio pulls out the check book in the event he accepts. $20mil is a lot and Garcia is definitely a guy who could see a weak market due to his past inconsistencies. It isn't like if Garcia accepts we just shrug our shoulders because we have payroll to burn...$20mil would be crippling to offseason plans. This is especially problematic if we don't really care to have Garcia back. Which, in my opinion, is the case. I am betting they would rather shift the payroll elsewhere and pray for a JBJ bounce-back plus let Tyrone Taylor have a full time spot to play. The chance of being saddled with $20mil in salary on a player we probably don't want to spend a bunch of money on is a huge risk for a team with a serious payroll crunch. That risk is not worth a single draft pick. If they knew that Garcia would turn in another .850+ OPS season next year they might consider it, but Garcia has done a pretty good job in his career showing he can't be counted on...especially in consecutive seasons. For those reasons I would let him just walk.
  21. Reds are really blowing a chance to create breathing room in the WC race. While many of the other teams vying for that spot have also lost the last two days, it was a good chance to create more than a game of separation. If they would have won the last two days they would have a 3 game lead and put the Phillies back 7/the Mets back 9. Instead they sit 1 ahead of the Padres and the Cardinals are still quietly 3.5 back.
  22. For the record, I wasn't literal. I for one hope we blow past 97 and get to 100.
  23. Can we change this to 100? I could not care less if we get 97-99 wins. Record? So what. Now if we got 100 wins, as the little market we are at such a disadvantage, now that, that would be impressive. I feel like if that happened the season would be incredibly memorable even if we got bounced in the NLDS. I wouldn't feel the same way if it were 97 wins.
  24. I like to listen to Pandora and during the day I get the same Little Ceasers ad EVERY SINGLE TIME. Sometimes you get two ads....and BOTH will be that same ad. If you are going to give me ads at least change it up. I also don't get why I get that specific ad either. Usually they are pretty targeted and I have never even eaten Little Ceasers in my life.
  25. The Brewers now hold MLBs biggest lead in the divisional race at 9.5 games. With a win today I am guessing the Brewers will join the Dodgers, Giants, and White Sox with 100% postseason odds.
