  1. Not sure Jordan Love is really a problem at this point. I am sure Rodgers doesn't want to play under his current deal that is effectively year to year...and really he shouldn't be okay with that. People can say, "Oh he signed the contract, stop complaining and play." Alright, we all know that isn't how contracts in the NFL work. That being said all signs point to the Packers willing to extend Rodgers big time and seemingly where its pretty much impossible to ditch him for 3+ years. That makes Jordan Love pretty irrelevant as there would be little to no risk of Love stealing his job whether he is on the team or not. I somewhat doubt trading Love is even a requirement to come back for that reason. Heck, even if Love wasn't on the team the contract would be a massive issue anyway. Players don't win MVPs and then want to go year to year on their deal. They want to cash in on it. The way the Packers are talking it sounds like they have pretty much offered all they could. What is the hold up at this point, I don't know, I will let one of you guys that likes to run around with the media circus try and guess. Trying to decipher the media leaks was fun for a week or two, but its clearly just a landfill of clickbait. I will be happy when it is all over because I am tired of hearing about how a bunch of adults couldn't communicate correctly.
  2. Narvaez. Lol Looks like the defense we expected when we traded for him.
  3. His problem isn’t drafting Jordan Love. Im sure a definitive major problem is he is the MVP of the league now and is on a year to year contract. Not shockingly he doesn’t want to be on those terms with his level of play. Now he has proven he likely has years left in the tank. He was wisely quiet after drafting Love because he hadn’t been playing at an elite level...that isn’t the case now.
  4. Couldn't disagree more. I've long envied the Packers' ability to move on and make the hard choices that the fans hate. How many guys left where there was a huge outcry, only for us to find out that the FO had correctly evaluated that they were toast? Jennings, Nelson, Sitton, etc etc etc. It's the fans (and likely the players in some ways to, hence Rodgers' comments about 'people') that want the team to run like their Madden Franchise Mode. When you manage that way, you give out bad contracts that you regret. Somewhat like giving Yelich a huge fanboy-like extension that seems like a horrible idea less than two years later... Just saying that type of management style doesn’t fly with players more and more these days. Especially when said player makes or breaks your entire franchises ability to win a championship. That’s pretty applicable to NBA stars and NFL QBs.
  5. Falcons probably won't get a first, but never know. I have seen Jordan Love for Julio Jones. That was be an interesting twist in the Rodgers drama. If it got Rodgers to come back and all it takes is Love that would make a lot of sense for the Packers, imo.
  6. You're correct, but most of this is holdover from Ted Thompson who hasn't been in charge for years now. The argument that BK has sat on his hands and let Rodgers carry the team, which is an argument that exists, has no leg to stand on. Sure, I did point that out and agree. However, I do think the Love pick bridged that same feeling to the new management a bit. Fans thought it was a waste then Rodgers went out and kind of confirmed that to people upset with the pick. Coming up short in the NFCCG, trading up to use your top pick on a QB, and then coming up short in the NFCCG game again is somewhat brutal. Especially when the QB you already had won the MVP. That gave people the same feeling with the the current management as they did with Thompson. Waste top picks, come up short in the playoffs, and waste another year of an elite future HOF QB. Not saying it’s total justified to be considered that or compared to the prior 10 years...but I see why people make that connection.
  7. Yah, Rodgers may be a piece of work, but many former players have understood where Rodgers is coming from because of what you said Reilly. The Packers are trying to manage the team like the players are more like robots, not people. That really just doesn't fly in sports today and was a big fail on the Packers part. It simply should never have gotten to this point. Too late to go back and do it differently though. Both sides need to figure it out and get on with it. I am not sure who or why it is dragging out (journalists seem unsure themselves), but figure it out.
  8. It probably helps Rodgers is upset for a lot of the same reasons Packers fans are upset with the Packers front office. There has always been a belief the Packers have wasted Rodgers career and didn't treat him the way they should have. Now that was a much stronger feeling before they got a new GM and coach...but you still have that near decade of time where the Packers really dropped the ball. The new front office still took Love, a move that still had a huge part of the fanbase irate despite a similar situation at the end of the Favre era taking place and working out. I think it would be even more lopsided in Rodgers favor if the Favre situation wasn't a thing in the past.
  9. I wouldn't be concerned with a pitchers use in the ASG. At worst, if you are the starter, you may go two innings. Past that guys are usually going an inning. I also find it really unlikely that the manager would make 33%+ of the innings covered by one teams pitchers. Usually, especially since the game became meaningless, you are expected to showcase a bit more variety of teams. If we send 3-4 pitchers they all probably won't pitch. The AS break is pretty long. I would guess most pitchers find time to pitch at some point during it anyway like they do all season long. Pretty sure starters still do BP session on their third(?) rest day. Might as well consider their ASG appearance as that.
  10. A .678 OPS is bad offense and certainly would be aiding to cratering anyone’s AS chances at any position. Sorry, that doesn’t seem like a crazy take to me. Voters aren’t going to care that he was coming off an injury and think .678 was impressive. That may be true in reality, but not when an AS roster gets picked. AS appearances are made on name recognition and piling up the stats for three months (and if your coach is picking rosters). Being MIA and bad for 1/3 of that time is going to be a big problem. Of course, he still has all of June to make or break his chances. However, as things stand now he probably wouldn’t make it and he has a few high end names on his tail also chasing the leaders. Guessing he would have to have a crazy month similar to his April just to have a chance. That’s just how good so many catchers in the NL have been up to this point. Usually, I feel like, a .850+ OPS at catcher would not put you in a 5+ race entering June.
  11. I remember when the large majority of people were skeptical Woodruff would ever put it together to be a true dominant Ace. He is looking the part these days. He is pushing 3 WAR and it isn’t even June.
  12. The average catcher OPS means nothing. He needs to be in the top three at his position and even at catcher you are going to need to be an offensive force. He is currently 4th in the NL with Will Smith/Yadier Molina close behind. Two guys that would easily be preferred over him if the stats are close. Buster Posey and Carson Kelly both have OPSs over 1.000. Omar Narvaez has been great so far, but an All Star...probably not. A sub .700 OPS won’t get him there. We are talking about him being an All Star, not just a good catcher.
  13. I’m don’t really watch golf, but for some reason I always get golf highlights on Facebook and watch them. Phil is by far my favorite guy to watch. Typically Sundays I am at family get together time and people tend to put on golf. It was cool to see when they tuned in that Phil was on top. Watched the last five or so holes. I love watching the golf highlights on Facebook and I’m marginally liking it on TV. Now I just need to pick up some clubs and learn how to play.
  14. He was a decent prospect. I feel like their was a twin Diaz prospect at the time...or maybe another pitcher he was coming up with that he was always attached to. Didn’t think it was Isan...but maybe it was.
  15. Based on what? He's hitting .240 over 30 ABs in May...He had a rough road trip and definitely isn't tearing the cover off the ball but if that's your definition of cratering then just wait till you see a couple of the other guys on the roster. If you are going to just use one stat, check out OPS...he is at .678. That’s really bad.
  16. I missed it live, but Gameday has it like an inch off the corner. Sorry, but no need to make excuses for Hiura. It made it a 1-1 count, hardly a bad situation. He then swung at air on a belt high fastball and then swung at a ball closer to bouncing off the plate than it was the strike zone. He has no one to blame, but himself.
  17. Hope Hiura can have a good day and series, that would mean more than any number of actual wins. Just feel like he could really benefit from hitting the ground running after coming back up.
  18. I imagine Corbin Burnes would be an easy lock. He missed some time, but if he continues to be a big time ace before roster are picked...easy selection. His stats are bonkers and that record put him on the radar early. Omar Narvaez is currently cratering at the moment. He has honestly been terrible in May...like really really really bad.
  19. I doubt Candelario is that expensive. While controllable he doesn't have a huge track record of even average stats. He had a really nice shortened 2020 thanks to a high average and a huge .503 slugging percentage. His career average is .241 and his career slugging percentage is .396. His slugging is back down to .404 this year so now his OPS is down to .760. His BABIP is off the charts like it was last year (.377), thus his average is still pretty high (.283). That is a crazy high BABIP and nowhere near his career .306 BABIP. Maybe he is a decent starter, but pretty good chance that BABIP nosedives and takes his stats with it. I would venture to bet Adames is more valuable.
  20. Here is John Means cheating. I have seen a lot of guys do it....but wow, this has to be the stickiest substance I have ever seen. As I said in another thread MLB said they were going to crack down on it. Guys watching in the dugout and not only during games, but reviewing footage after the fact to catch guys. They would then punish them. However, you can't tell me they are actually doing it. Means is horrible at hiding it and religiously does it (where some pitchers will only do it based on weather). Gerritt Cole is another guy who does it a lot. I really don't get why MLB continues to turn a blind eye to it. If Joe Blow at home can see this stuff I think even the blind MLB officials in New York can...of course with replay maybe they can't.
