  1. Hung that curve up and set it up on a platter. And that throw to home...jeez. Thought they would have a play.
  2. Interesting pitching choice by the Twins to go to the lefty when the first guy to face was the righty Garcia, then Yelich, then a bunch of righties. It worked out about as poorly as you could plan.
  3. 3/4 of our bench players today: Arcia - .804 OPS Gyorko - .816 OPS Pina - 1.012 OPS I love me some match ups, but the above guys are producing while the embarrassing likes of Gamel/Narvaez/Smoak/Sogard suck pretty much regardless of whatever pitches to them. It has been shown many times so far this season our LHB line up is not being very productive. Maybe we should just go with the producing bats once and see how they do, can’t be much worse.
  4. Can we interview Stearns if they get no hit tonight? Want to know his thoughts on his roster construction. Straight up disgrace.
  5. There is no reason to send Hiura to Appleton where he can’t do much other than hit balls off the tee. That’s just a waste.
  6. I don’t see any realistic trade I would do for Hader. In my opinion Hader is an integral part of winning a World Series in the near future. I’d ride Hader all the way to FA and lose him to a comp pick...unless we feel like we need to rebuild before that. The impact Josh Hader can have in the postseason (and all year for that matter) is irreplaceable.
  7. Sure, high turnover isn’t exactly great...but it probably beats signing them to stick around to be poor mainstays. Much of the guys we have lost haven’t exactly lit the world on fire elsewhere. Miley was good last year and letting Gennett go looked to be a pretty poor move. I don’t have much problem letting many of these guys walk. A good majority of the time it ends up not working out very well.
  8. I only saw the two posts above me at first and was really confused why someone was so hyped for another person getting fiber internet.
  9. How was most of that 2018 team's success thanks to what he started with? Wasn't HE responsible for the trade of Yelich, the trades that brought the players he traded Yelich for, the signing of Cain... Who were the significant pieces on that team that he started with vs the players who he acquired? Well, first thing I didn’t say most...so let’s be accurate please. I was referring to the strong minor league system he joined with, was left with an elite trade chip in Lucroy, and notably the haul that was acquired for Carlos Gomez just before he arrived. Not to mention he was given a clean slate with the payroll and didn’t have a bunch of burden contracts hanging over the franchise. It was a pretty favorable situation to build a team from. Of course Stearns did pretty good himself and that is a big reason why it got turned around so fast. Unfortunately, many of those success stories were gone faster than you blinked. Stearns really hasn’t found much talent that has helped us for an extended period of time. Most of it came and went due to FA and/or sucking their way out of town. On the hitting side, outside of Yelich, he really hasn’t found any guys to have consistent success (unless I am forgetting someone). Shaw/Aguilar/Villar were all short lived. The pitching side the only two relevant starters this year have been Woodruff/Houser...both of which were here before Stearns. Four of the main bullpen guys (Hader/Peralta(?)/Williams/Suter) are all pre Stearns guys. Now disclaimer, I do realize Stearns drafting is still relatively young so that has to be taken into consideration. Stearns has done a remarkable job in his time here...I doubt we could have hired someone to get better results in this same timespan. That being said we still don’t know how well he will do building a farm system, which is arguably the most important thing he will ever do to find success in Milwaukee. The system isn’t great right now and the roster turnover the last few years is certainly concerning. It’s a sign we are not developing or finding controllable players...certainly not a recipe for success. I don’t say all of this to mean I think he hasn’t done a good job...I just don’t think the real test as a GM has been seen yet.
  10. This is a baseball team, the goal should definitely be to rip the other team off. If we think a player is going to be a bust, but some team think he is a Top 50 prospect are we suppose to tell them that and offer the player as a throw in? The goal should be to gain the most perceived value while giving up the least amount of perceived value. According to our own valuations of course. Make the worst offer possible that the other team will accept. Of course at the time of a trade it probably will never look like you are ripping off a team. I doubt even Stearns expected all these guys to flop so much. And I don’t mean rip off like try to sneak them some pitcher who is about to blow out his elbow or try to trade them someone we know has serious mental/drug problems and is about to implode as a baseball player. That would be wrong.
  11. The CC trade wasn’t even that good in the grand scheme. They gave up a pretty good player in Brantley who went on to have 3 AS appearances, a Top 3 MVP finish, and 24 WAR with the Indians before moving on to the Astros. The Brewers got CC for half a year and got booted out of the playoffs first round as a wild card team. I’m not saying any Brewers fan would go back and veto the trade from happening, but it’s hardly some kind of robbery success story. It’s not even in the same universe when it comes to how good the Yelich trade has ended up. Lewis Brinson: -3.4 WAR Isan Diaz: -0.9 WAR Jordan Yamamoto: 0.4 WAR Christian Yelich: 14.1 WAR It’s quite possible the Marlins gave up a future HOFer in their peak for a package of players that will end up giving them a negative overall WAR. So far the Marlins would have been better off just giving Yelich away. I wasn’t alive with the dinosaurs like some of you so this may be bias towards the 21st century, but after the Yelich trade the Gomez trade has to be up there. Hader looks to be one of the best relief pitchers of his generation. Houser looks to be a very good pitcher whether that be in the pen or starting. Domingo Santana was solid bat for years and his double in Game 163 is arguably one of the bigger hits in Brewers history. What did the Astros get? A negative WAR from Gomez while he was there.
  12. Jokes aside....this is what happens when you swing and put the ball in play.
  13. *Insert Bob Uecker* THEY’VE GOT THE LEAD, OHHHH, WHAT A DOUBLE PLAY BY GAMEL!
  14. The umpire is the worst I have seen in honestly a long time...this is just disgraceful.
  15. This really comes down to not developing hitters. A lot of the 2018 success was guys who ended up not panning out as long term pieces (Shaw/Aguilar). Then last year we got some nice hitters that we simply didn’t want to invest long term contracts in Grandal/Moustakas. I can’t blame him for not giving them large contracts, but when that is added with Aguilar/Shaw not panning out we were left with a horrid situation. If we can’t developer hitters and don’t want to invest in contracts then we aren’t going to be well set for success. Stearns has been here a long enough time where the farm system is going to really start resting on his shoulders when it comes to the lack of development to the current roster. Even a huge portion of the current rosters success is due to things before him. Woodruff/Houser/Hader were all here prior to him. Yelich was acquired on a prospect haul he was lucky to be left with. Props to him making that trade, but good thing he took over a nice farm system to do it. The roster is getting to the point where from rookie ball up it is kind of Stearn’s baby in general...and to be honest it’s not something to be overly excited about. The true test for Stearns is the next 3-5 years when he doesn’t have much to blame but himself and the organization he built. Not many scraps from the last front office will be hanging around at that point. It’s been a nice short tenure, but this is where he proves whether he is a truly great GM or not
  16. I haven’t lost confidence in him, but I never thought he was the almighty great young GM that most fans were propping him up to be. It’s simply too soon in his career to know how well he will fare in the end. He did a great job for 2018, but a lot of that was thanks to what he started with. 2019 was a good step back and then this year looks like falling of a cliff decline (so far). That being said I’m not giving him a mulligan just because it is 60 games. He constructed this roster...60 games or 162 games a garbage roster is garbage. The roster is lame and a funky way to build a team. So far it has been pathetic.
