  1. Mertz is a Sophomore with zero game experience and in an offense heavily skewed towards running the ball. Even with a hideous backfield compared to the last three years I doubt we suddenly start slinging it around like that. Mertz could light the world on fire, but that is so far from a sure thing. Not to mention Mertz may, heck...probably won’t be the starting QB come August.
  2. This is a brilliant deal for Luis Robert...almost a no brainer for any player to take. He assures himself $50mil in his team controlled years which is probably what he would expect as a star. It also means he is very likely to start the year in Chicago instead of the team messing with his service time (now that they can't do that). So the way I see it is he gave up a year of FA for $50mil assured to him regardless of what happens (If you assume the Sox were going to bring him up late to get him six years after 2020 still). He will go into FA at 30 worst case...still young enough to get a mega deal if he is actually a star. His agent swung him a fantastic deal.
  3. Just throwing it out there as it was a storyline before the game: One team came to Pasadena treating it like a vacation and one came like it was a business trip. The team that came for a vacation looked like they forget they had a football game to focus on. 3/4 of the fumbles were because of simply inexplicable ball security. The kind you would be upset to have even one of in the game, let alone 3. Not saying it would have ended better had they came to Pasadena more focused on the game, but it certainly looks bad.
  4. ....I'm not following at all. Yea... Neither of these teams belong in playoff discussions. The reason it won’t go to six is because there already isn’t 2 competitive semi final games. THREE games have been decided by one score. On the flip side SEVEN have been one team getting throttled...not even close. There has only been twelve games and over half weren’t even good competitive match ups in the end. Even in the championship game 2/5 have been blowouts. This game is woefully irrelevant to the college football playoff future.
  5. Can’t really expect to win when the punter drops the ball and give up 7 points.
  6. They left the receiver wide open to clinch that, kind of silly...why is the safety 20 yards back?
  7. Was that a PI? I mean....yah...but most passes have some PI in them. Just seems like a super lame call and ticky tack.
  8. As someone who is pretty neutral about Badgers basketball, they are always boring to watch...that’s their style of play...boring. They just are never built to put up points. Is this year on another level? Yeah, but hardly a new thing. EDIT: To clarify I am not saying that as a bad thing, that style of basketball has resulted in a lot of success for a program that rarely gets notable recruits.
  9. One call, that's all! My information is simply based upon Cincinnati and Kansas City both signing TV deals in the $50-60 million range and the Brewers having more total viewers. I have no idea how many years the Brewers have left on their contract. Perhaps the marketing department at FS Wisconsin needs an overhaul. Approximately 13 hours according to the end date that was always assumed...though in a lot of cases the exact contract is unknown. They signed a deal in 2009 and it was assumed to be a 10 year contract. Their lack of spending this offseason and the fact no new TV deal has been announced makes me fear that contract might have actually been 12 or 15 years. The Royals was supposed to end after 2019 and they signed their new one back in August. Either negotiations are taking a crazy long time or it may not have actually been a 10 year contract. Or maybe they have signed a new one secretly and don't want to announce their new $30mil increase of revenue while they be cheap in the FA market.
  10. He is basically a slightly better version of Arcia. Not sure he really helps us out as he would be a terrible hitting 3B as would Urias if he was pushed over there...it just doesn't improve the left side of the infield.
  11. I’m not sure how accurate the Padres comparison is, but that would be interesting if it actually was. This is typical fluff that doesn’t really provide any good reliable information though. It just makes assumptions and uses one number for that part to make an argument. It’s way more complicated than these article make it seem to be.
  12. That was really ugly. That snap was really high.
  13. Here comes vintage Rodgers, heard it here first.
  14. That was 100% an offensive PI and an idiotic play on our WR. He had that DB beat. Odds are he would have gotten mauled by the DB and gotten a defensive PI when he slowed down for the ball.
  15. Really wish we would stop going out of bounds.
  16. Yah, that took quite a bit of time for a pretty obvious TD.
  17. He will be fine, he still has good years in him. Many HOF quarterbacks have some “down” years and end up reverting back to some elite play. Does he need to improve footwork or change things? Probably, but there is simply too much natural gifted ability to not adapt.
  18. The Lions aren’t that bad and we really aren’t that good...thus here we are.
  19. There are some really cheap flights for the first two weeks of March too for anyone who is interested in spring training, also Frontier. I just booked 29th-7th for $346 for two people round trip (before add-on stuff). Someone more flexible could get even cheaper. Thanks for reminding me about that. I gave up a few months ago when prices were looking way too expensive.
  20. He certainly made those rebuilding years a lot of fun for me.
  21. If we include minors this one takes the cake: https://www.google.com/amp/s/deadspin.com/ball-bounces-off-centerfielders-glove-then-his-head-t-5832978/amp Routine catch....at least it should have been. If Yuni B can make the list for stepping on 2nd... You aren’t wrong though.

  23. The one where he dove into the chain line fence? If so, I agree.
  24. The Rickie Weeks glove flip, behind the back, Yuni B barehand snag, and then throw to first for the double play. Definitely should be on there. For two guys not known for defense that was one heck of a play.
  25. To be honest Stearns has had an offseason dominated by total disregard for defense...so I don’t see why that trend can’t continue. Wouldn’t be exactly a shocking thing.
