  1. Only thing Stearns has missed out on was not signing Moustakas to a long term deal last year. They surely could have had him for 3/$36mil or so last season when he was on the doorstep of getting shut out two offseasons in a row. That would have been real nice to have...instead Stearns gave him the one year deal and got burnt this offseason. We will see how things shake out at 3B (and in general), but I feel that was a missed move. But yah, the deals so far have been above what one would have thought was market price. FA is dangerous enough when you don't overpay.
  2. I just about barfed when I clicked the link, full powder blue including the pants? LOL, powder blue pants are the worst thing in MLB uniform history. I actually liked their uniforms before...these...meh. To be fair they are just tweaks. Not a true rebrand.
  3. I am not too concerned. They didn't hype up some uniforms to fill it with garbage, they don't have a bunch of money just to sit on it, and they didn't make the postseason two years in a row to put together a 3rd place roster now. I think people forget the big time guys have to sign before the guys in our wheelhouse will even sign. With the big deals getting handed out already guys in the middle of the pack will wait for even more juicy deals by the big time players to be inked. I never understand the concern that the entire field of players is going to be picked and we are left with nothing...when does that ever happen. If it does clearly we didn't want any of them. Signing guys before the winter meetings is a good sign you paid more than you should have.
  4. He did his part helping the Brewers when he pitched for the Cubs. Recall him being a big prospect everyone wanted back in the day including Mike Olt….man Mike Olt. So many were hyped for him.
  5. Why would Miller Park go to artificial turf? They made it a focal point in making the stadium in a way that gives them real grass (which looks great with some assistance).
  6. His ties to the east coast probably would have meant us giving notably more than this. I think Wheeler would have been a decent risk for the Brewers at the 5/$100mil area, but this is getting a tad steep. Being a cheese state I feel like we could have beat an offer of $120 worth of mish though.
  7. Okay, is it time to call Garza yet?
  8. Brewers may need to call up Garza soon, might as well have him play if we are paying him.
  9. Because they didn't play them, let alone beat them head to head.
  10. There is no way that Hiura is splitting at bats. Especially with those two...
  11. It is almost like...no one said that.
  12. If someone was going to give me $100 to find someone that would say "bubbler" I am going to Milwaukee...more specifically Cudahy because I know I will find a true local. No one voluntarily moves there.
  13. I would be nearly 100% confident slaughtering Ohio State would cause them to drop below Wisconsin in the standings. We won't blow them out, but I think OSU would lose their spot in the CFP if we did.
  14. I had a dream last night and they were up 50-16. I’m not sure the quarter, I think the 3rd. Defense had multiple pick 6’s and Coan was on fire.
  15. Or the fact he only costs $2.2mil and he can just be the utility man. The Brewers may have zero realistic hope Arcia is going to break out. The reason he is staying is his price. At $4mil or more he is probably dumped like 99% of last years roster. I doubt they really have that much hope he will turn a corner at this point. If he has an option left that would explain their willingness even more.
  16. Bubbler is not a Wisconsin thing, it just isn’t. Only place you will hear that reliably is Milwaukee and to a lesser extent other east coast Wisconsin areas. Outside of that it is not a common thing. Fox Valley, Green Bay, and Milwaukee are the only places I’ve known people to say it. It isn’t common anywhere else I’ve known people from.
  17. Stearns trashes SS (Arcia) when offseason starts, says they need to improve, gets Urias, and then talks about him improving the SS position. His chances to be on the opening day roster (assuming he is healthy) is near 100%. He wasn’t traded for to be riding the bus in AAA.
  18. I mean, it is kinda true...it’s a silly article to write before the winter meetings though. Real silly.
  19. It is grasping at straws level.
  20. No, because that doesn't make any sense at all. Yelich is signed for another 3 years. That means his deal would not start until year 4 of a Grandal or Moose contract and all the other moves those guys wouldn't have even been around when a Yelich extension would kick in. You can't really slightly increase his current extension to lessen the new extension money per year either. Yelich is owed 12.5/14/15. That is cheap for his production, but definitely not cheap on our payroll regardless.
  21. I think they can do that with the Wildcat but not with Coan. Or maybe that's what you meant. Yes... and no. With Coan, there is a chance where he could run for a few yards. If Cruickshank is in there, write off any passes... unless there is really something up their sleeve. I haven't seen Cruickshank throw one pass and don't have much faith in that. Maybe Cruick throwing a pass is just what they need to do to win. I have never seen a kicker catch a TD pass from the punter, but yet that happened in the NFL. They are either going to go into Saturday with the most outlandish plan we have seen Chryst ever do or just accept losing by three touchdowns instead of risking a worse loss. We are playing January 1st regardless, go out there and try to be crazy.
  22. I will take the risk he rebounds. He had a good September and was decent in the second half overall. It would have to be a total salary dump for me to consider moving him. I would not pay to get rid of him.
  23. So one should hate SUVs?
  24. The better question is why are the Mets giving away a .900 OPS bat at a premium position (5 years control) and a 1B who almost put up a .900 OPS (5 years control) for 4 years of an expensive relief pitcher who, while elite the last few years, had a HR problem last year and could come down to earth faster than you can blink? Why are they giving away 2/8 of their offense for a relief pitcher? Why is any team trading away multiple MLB assets away for a relief pitcher? Gotta be honest, that doesn't make much sense if the Mets were trying to compete. If a team is going after an elite relief pitcher I would expect prospects so they actually improve.
  25. Seriously. If Hader is going to the Mets, they can start with Syndergaard and even that I am not convinced on. Hader + for Syndergaard and Dom Smith....maybe. Hader for multiple utility men like Davis and McNeil and a 1B in Smith. Pound sand New York. Jeff McNeil followed up a rookie season in which he put up an OPS of .852, with a .916 last year, along with an All Star appearance. Casey McGehee never approached that. He's also a lefty hitter with emerging power that would be a perfect fit for Miller Park. In my opinion, you probably couldn't find a better trade candidate. I certainly wouldn't do McNeil straight up for Hader, but he'd be a prime piece coming back in any deal. Bring in McNeil plus more and then turn around and trade Hiura for a haul. Woah...totally in a wild MLB: The Show world, but it could actually work out for the Brewers. It is funny because McNeil is the kind of player people on here constantly beg for us to find. Takes walks, premium position, barely strikes out, power...great player. Maybe the track record isn't there prior to the last few year, but he looks legit. I bet the Mets are the team to hang up the phone faster.
