  1. Maybe if he gets healthy and rides the bench in the bullpen come September. He is gone after the year, 100% a non tender in my opinion. He will be off to some bottom dweller to try and prove he is still MLB worthy. We just can’t afford projects like him anymore. If he doesn’t get healthy and do something in September he is gone.
  2. Now be honest, do you think any of this is actually realistic to what the Brewers will do? I have tried his “plan” many times on MLB: The Show....never...ever...did it work out. Not even close. Blowing it up and then blowing up the payroll with those prospects is a nice theory, but it takes quite a perfect situation. I love his creativity...but I doubt it would work. Look at how many times he says “should”. Should is wrong more than it is right. We should have had a great bullpen and should have had some good starters and should have had a good corner duo in Aguilar/Shaw.
  3. Ha. Ok, a couple lottery tickets will do. What? His stats aren’t good at all. Lots of hits, good number of walks, little to no strikeouts, nice amount of homers, and his stuff isn’t special. He is slightly above average over his career and has two years of control. While 55 grade is pretty broad...that seems bullish.
  4. In what world are we getting a 55 grade prospect for Davies?
  5. Not really seeing that as bringing politics in. It's just a fact, that president today and the president in 1999 were both mired in sexual scandals in which the women weren't believed at the start. Seemed pretty civil other than you going off the rails for some odd reason. Both were very high profile and the latter is arguably the most front-and-center example in history. There are probably thousands of examples you could use that don't have any connection to politics. It is just asking for things to go south...and such comments always make it go south. Avoiding mentioning political figures and/or strong political related social happenings is usually a wise idea. I mean this topic would usually be a no-go...but since Cephus still has a chance to be a Badger moving forward its nice if the thread could avoid spiraling out of control.
  6. Chase Anderson isn't much different from last year. He just has a more realistic HR rate for himself. I am not really shocked he made it to the rotation this year and did well. I predicted before the season he would be one of our Top 5 guys...unfortunately he has arguably been the best. Which, no offense Anderson, is kind of sad. Davies was injured last year, is in a complete free fall, and his supporting stats outside of ERA are all pretty much worse. Gio Gonzalez was good for us last year too...and it has been a mere 9 starts. I think Brandon Woodruff would disagree about Chase being the best for the team this year, as he has almost a 1 run higher WAR than Chase, on top of pretty much every other stat/metric Chase Anderson has arguably been more consistent and has been more healthy. Of course Counsell constantly pulling him early probably helps Anderson a lot. I didn't say he was...just that there are multiple ways he has arguably has been....which no matter how good Anderson has been is pretty sad on Stearn's part.
  7. Yah idk...there was a lot of details from the start that made it a bad situation. I don't think his "high profile" name had anything to do with charges. He agreed that everything the girls said happened, even taking a picture (that he quickly deleted). It wasn't so much a he said/she said situation, more of a were they actually too drunk to consent to the things taking place. He also admitted to lying to the police about details surrounding the photo. Even if it was indeed consensual that is one slippery slope to find yourself on and I would bet many have been convicted after similar situations...probably more than those found not guilty. If I recall there was a security camera that showed at least one of the girls getting back to her room quite easily which likely was a big deal in the case. I believe one girl claimed the other was so drunk her eyes were rolling into the back of her head...I can't imagine walking back easily in the kind of state. Still, "too drunk to consent" is one heck of a slippery slope to find yourself on with random people because the definition is pretty vague.
  8. Shout out to Ryan Braun who was once a 40-30 guy. I think only 8 or so are on that list and it includes quite the names.
  10. The latest news means little. He has to request readmission to clear his record. Whether it leads to him actually attending UW is another story....we will see. As far as a lawsuit...yah, right. It isn’t like he was proven 100% innocent in the situation. Just, not guilty. I don’t think he is winning a lawsuit. I also don’t think that really helps his case getting into any school and any team.
  11. Huh? Grisham is built and has been his entire minor league career. He has never been small (physically). Certainly not small or a guy that needs to fill out. I don’t think he will get any taller, think he rounds up on the roster to be 6’0”
  12. I’d rather had Yelich with guys on instead of that. Are we saving Yelich for a bases empty plate appearance in the 9th?
  13. Every time I see someone call WAR a joke I have to wonder the percentage of said people that probably couldn’t even tell you what goes into WAR. I bet it is at least 75%.
  14. Braun in RF, spare us all. Then again we toss Thames out there all the time so I guess not much difference. Regarding not having an extra SS. When your starting SS is a total pile is there even a point to having another on the roster? Why even back up one of the worst positional players in baseball, honestly. If there was anyone worthy of a MLB roster spot they could probably just take Arcia's job. Might as well risk Shaw or someone else at SS for less than a game to allow yourself a better bat on the bench.
  15. Bellinger's splits are quite possibly some of the most incredible splits I have ever seen. If his production was a pie and you cut it in half you wouldn't see a difference using a ruler. Almost every single stat (walks and strikeouts included) are almost a mirror image if the PAs for each was the same. His OPS difference between the two: 0.003
  16. If Bellinger falls back 30-50 points in OPS while yelich maintains, that might do it also. It's truly a 2 horse race in my opinion. The triple crown actually appears somewhat attainable. He's only ahead in HR, but he's only 1 point behind in average and 5 rbi at the moment. A strong finish could get him there. In my opinion 50-30 is amazing, but more of a fun fact elite stat. I just don't think it is going to get hyped. The Triple Crown is like the grand daddy of league domination. I can't see some with the later losing the MVP. I don't really like his chances though, the competition is way to dense in RBIs and to some extent AVG. If he pulls it off with all the competition any writer voting someone else should be smacked. He is going to need a sizeable gap to win without the triple crown and missing the postseason. He is notably BEHIND Bellinger in WAR...not really a good look. Can't see him winning with a lower WAR and not in the postseason.
  17. Would first ever 50/30 club lock him in for MVP? I feel like it would have to, but Bellinger is also having a crazy good season and is better defensively. Not even close. The only thing that will make him a lock for the MVP is the Triple Crown. The fact we are starting to circle the toilet it may be the only way to even win as missing the postseason pretty much kills any chance at the MVP. It is ridiculously close right now though. If we make it as a WC team I bet Bellinger would win because his team is better and Yelich won last year.
  18. I never said I wouldn't take Gamel, but really Gamel is no better than what Broxton was doing for us. 91 OPS+ vs. Gamel 84 OPS+. I think Gamel has some better attributes for a bat off the bench, but really for what we traded to get him I think we were expecting more than a typical 4th OFer. I think we were planning on his usual production...not what he has now provided overall. Long run hopefully he fixes things.
