    He needs to be required to go to classes. While what he did isn’t really all that bad at face value the fact he did that in public (with lots of people around) is pretty concerning of what might go on in a more private setting. Other than that, yah, maybe a suspension and fine...nothing crazy. Hopefully there isn’t worse going on behind closed doors and he just need to re-evaluate what he is doing and that it is definitely not okay. For the record I have had worse altercations over who gets last pizza roll.

    Whatever man... Well what is a logical return that is going to add more than subtracting Lina that the Royals would also logically do? They are beyond bad and clearly rebuilding. We don’t need prospects and I don’t see why they would trade MLB players unless they have a logical bullpen arm that is in his walk year. But once again what pen arm is going to outperform what we lose getting rid of Pina?

    Oh, right. Yah...I would also trade him for Whit Merrifield too. Personally I would target Wily Peralta.

    The Phillies sold 100,000 tickets yesterday after the news broke. That is likely a surge of around $4,000,000 from increased ticket sales on ONE DAY ALONE. It wouldn't really shock me if Harper is generating over $25mil in off the field revenue streams in his first year. The jersey sales are going to be off the charts. I think the impact of getting one of these guys in FA is really understated financially. Extending a guy is usually not a big revenue stream because the fans probably already have the merchandise over the years and it isn't going to generate major excitement. However getting Bryce Harper, one of the faces of MLB, out of nowhere to be on your team is just insane. Harper was #13 in jersey sales last year despite being on the same team for 7 years. That is especially crazy when you consider many thought he was on the way out the door and was in his walk year. Yet everyone and their brother in Philly wanted his jersey. While off the field revenue generation quickly tails off from what it will be this year it is still major. Not to mention if Harper reverts back to an MVP level of play the revenue will keep trickling in until multiple generations die off and don't remember him anymore.

    I would also venture to guess they either told or the media in Milwaukee is choosing to not bring up a possible rebranding. Because lets be honest anyone would question why a $60mil renovation has a tarp with the logo on the main sign.

    I agree with this one. The "M" is more or less and advertisement for Miller. With that agreement ending, I'd imagine that logo isn't far behind. EVERYTHING I get from the Brewers is branded with the BIG logo, all of their press conferences use hats/jerseys with that logo. It's already happening more or less. I am guessing the new BIG logo made an appearance before the rebranding just to double dip on merchandise sales. They can sell a ton of stuff now and then everyone will want the new stuff when the new scripting (and possible other alterations) happen.

    $20mil for Keuchel? Hard Pass. I really don't think the Brewers need to be throwing 4+ years at a starter right now. They should have or should get someone on a short term deal. The improvement of Keuchel over what we have is not enough to risk Matt Garza money. I would love a 200 inning rock in the rotation, but Keuchel is not that.

    Not sure the M and barley will survive the rebranding...but something tells me it won’t...but that is just a guess. The logo and the scripting is straight from the Miller logo. For that reason I just see it going away with Miller. I am excited to see the jerseys for the rebrand though (yes I just assume it is a thing). Will they just pull similar script from the retro uniforms or will it be different? I also am interested to see how the new logo would even look on white uniforms...seems like it would not work well. I am really dreaming of a modern day pinstripe with the new color format. I hope that is included somehow. As far as preference I like the retro color scheme more. That is coming from someone with no attachment to the era. That being said I think the new color scheme is a better idea. Let the retro be retro. I like it as a refreshing thing here and there in the season.

    It is going to happen, the writing is on the wall. The tarp over the sign in Maryville and the fact the BIG is already used on everything. They are just waiting for the big rebrand. Whether that be with the UA jerseys or when the stadium name changes. Changing the logo away from the Miller “M” also means changing the script on the front of the uniforms...it’s nuch more than a different logo slapped on. They have essentially already changed the primary logo. The BIG logo is going to be the primary logo soon. Everyone will rejoice. If I am wrong I’d be shocked. Seems to be quite obvious.

    Why? This is an absolutely horrendous deal compared to what players have gotten before the last year or two. He is going into his age 26(!) season. The likes of Greinke/Pujols got way higher averages and they were ancient and past their primes (30+). Not to mention Pujols commanded a deal to take him into his 40+ years. This just further proves the problem going on here. Harper and Machado both should have commanded a deal absolutely way higher than they did. The value of getting Harper for his 26-30 age seasons should have skyrocketed his price to levels no one has ever gotten close to touching. Teams don’t want to pay for 35+ year old seasons and that is a big issue because the current system makes guys hit FA at 29 at best under most circumstances. That doesn’t leave a lot of room to make the real money. Heck a super stars career is dang near already half over before they even have a chance to find FA...let alone a normal player who maybe sees an all star game once. 3-5 years ago hitting FA at 26 would have meant unreal money and way more than this. If teams don’t want to pay big bucks for 33+ year old guys, great, probably a good idea. But then that means the system needs to change. Harper was suppose to be a $400 mil man. While his struggles this year might have altered that I think the change of FA is a bigger factor here.

    That $25mil average salary is pretty amazing all things considered. Zack Greinke at age 32 commanded $34mil through his age 37 season. Pujols commanded similar money at age 30 to take him through 40 years old. This is nothing compared to the FA contracts of years past where you were paying just as much (or worse) per year to get a guy arguably already on the decline.

    Well he could certainly accept a trade someday if he wanted to. While trading such a contract is just about as improbable as it gets if Stanton could get moved....this definitely can too.

    Why would you take 10/300mil over this? You want to hit FA at 36 years old and trying to get another $30mil then?

    I mean $25mil a year is not bad at all especially when $25mil really won't seem like a lot in 10 years. Think about it. We gave Braun $20mil a year at the age of 30 years old (when that extension started, I think?). For $5mil more a year we could have had Bryce Harper starting at an age just entering his prime (26). Considering how irrelevant $25mil will look in 10 years the back end probably won't even be that crippling and it won't even go to 40 years old. The grave amount of risk if he suddenly declines at 30 years old or becomes a Braun-like cripple is terrifying. But if he ages normally and stays healthy this seems like a phenomenal price to get him at. Don't forget the DH will surely be here way before he isn't good in the OF.

    I am pretty sure Harper doesn't live under a rock and has been aware the Cubs don't want him for months now. He is simply waiting for the first desperate team to go above and beyond the others. The teams bidding $300mil are desperate and want to make that big splash. If it doesn't happen (Phillies very much so) their entire off season plan is a failure and they are kinda left in an awkward spot. I think the Dodgers get him, but it would not shock me for the Phillies to just blow everyone away to make it happen. You can bet the Phillies and Dodgers are really nervous right now seeing what Harper will do as it exponentially changes their entire season outlook one way or the other. Heck it changes their franchise forever.

    How does entry work for certain events...is it strictly one person per ticket on account or are some events more lenient? For instance I usually just go to games with one other person (2 tickets), but I would really like to bring a close friend along with me too for some of the special events. Would I need a third ticket on account for them to join us? Curious if anyone has experience taking advantage of any benefit/perk that involves an event and not just memorabilia/physical stuff.

    I am sure it will return. No reason to rush announcing it. Make everyone buy the actual tickets to games they want before releasing this.

    There seems to be a lot of edge rushers in this draft. Burning three high picks to get Bosa/Allen seems like a poor idea when we could use the depth from 3 picks instead of one. I like Ferrell if he can drop.

    Problem is there really aren't many great examples of guys going from Coors to another team at a young age and not derailed by injuries (Tulo). Holliday went from COL to STL and never got put up what he did in COL (in a full season). However at the same time he was getting into his 30s when he went to STL. Tulo was nowhere near himself after leaving COL, but he was a walking DL and once again at an older age. I think going from COL to anywhere is likely to make you notably less, but not drastic. Arenado isn't going to be a human garbage can and have a sub .800 OPS if he went elsewhere.

    I find the salary floor talk interesting. Mostly because I don’t think that does anything for the real problem. Which is players not getting money while young or while old. I just doubt that fixes the struggle of FA contracts right now, but that is just me. In theory it gives the players more money , but is it going to get Moose a 3-4 year deal like he can’t get? No, probably not. That is what players are up in arms about these days. I do like the hard cap age where you are automatically a free agent. I don’t know if I mentioned that, but I like it to allow late bloomers chance to get paid.

    I would like to see them trade back a touch into the first and get a pass rusher and then a OL at #30. I think the ability to add another 2nd or 3rd rounder would be nice. If they really love a pass rusher then maybe keep the first pick and use it there. I think there are many great pass rushers to grab in the later first or second round so that high pick may be useful to trade out of.

    Shocked? Why? He was doubtful to ever start at Wisconsin again. He made no improvement starting multiple years. I am not sure Mertz would have started, but if not I am sure Coan would get the nod. Not need another year of the same thing that didn't get you very far as is.
