  1. No one is selecting him in the R5 draft...if they do, shrug, they can have him. He isn't that good. If he was where was he in September?
  2. That was not intentional...at all.
  3. I put a more detailed post in the rumors section, but I don't think it makes any sense to bring back Schoop or Moustakas. Neither is what we need and neither is cheap. If we want to spend money we can get a player that matches what we need (RHB good against LHP) with it in FA without much difficulty. If either comes back it is because they don't want to hand out a multiyear deal and instead want to roll the dice on these guys.
  4. There is NO WAY, no way Stearns should bring either Schoop or Moustakas back. Use that $10mil+ to get a higher OBP player and not only that, but preferably RH. Moustakas isn't really needed that much. I don't hate him, but I don't like him that much. We already have Shaw and Yelich as strong LHP. Yasmani Grandal is a really solid option. He has typically put forward solid OBP skills. His downside is the fact he hits RHP better than LHP (he is a switch hitter)...would prefer someone who really mashes lefties. DJ LaMahieu is a really solid option. He had a .900 OPS vs. LHP this year. He was terrible vs. RHP though and who knows how he would fair outside of Colorado. Josh Donaldson would be a stellar toarget in my opinion (though older). He hits LHP well and hold his own vs. RHP. Marwin Gonzalez hits both pretty evenly (switch hitter)...also another good option and he is versatile. I want an impact bat...I think Grandal and Donaldson give us the best chance at that. I also think Santana needs to get a better chance next year. If the price is too high on Donaldson I wouldn't mind Gonzalez. Not sold we should or will get a new starting catcher. Not sure what is out there via trade, but I want Goldy badly...but that's a hefty price to pay and I doubt we do it.
  5. Agree on this, I felt the same way about Santana. I guess that would explain Domingo Santana's substitute line of : .324 .375 .622 .997 Or I guess his PH stats only (not including a second PA after coming into a game): .414 .469 .793 1.262 Or maybe his stats in the second half where his play was entirely limited every single time: .409 .458 .909 1.367 .796 OPS over his career as a starter... 1.114 OPS over his career PHing.
  6. The Brewers seemed to do a lot of "experiments" this year and I am not sure they really thought about them as long as they should have. Overall it seemed pretty solid.
  7. We were #6 in MLB this year for team ERA....how much more can we improve. We will already see improvement from all the full years of guys who came up mid way in the year. The Houston Astros on the other hand were #11 in 2017...I can see improvement there when they had the #1 offense in all the land scoring a ridiculous 5.54 runs a game. Of course they were going to upgrade there pitching. Hard to reason improving that offense. I think trying to fix a vulnerable #12 offense is easier than trying to improve on a #6 pitching staff. That was our rankings this year. THAT being said I fully support making sure this pen is the best in all the land. Having an elite pen every year will make us almost unbeatable in a WC or NLDS setup...that's what is so bright for us in the near future.
  8. Knowing how they treat SSH when it comes to their strip I don't think I would ever buy one. I mean what is the point? With a 20 pack you will never have trouble getting WS tickets through a presale. Sounds like most people are ticked with their location.
  9. I just don't get wanting a guy like Patrick Corbin. We are returning every single pitcher pretty much PLUS we are adding full years from the young guys AND Nelson will return in some form. The same pitching that steamrolled through September and October, BUT we still couldn't make it to the World Series let alone win it! You have to score runs for that pitching to even matter! We had guys pitch like they were Patrick Corbin and we still failed in the end. We have the pitching to win it all, we need a more balanced line-up and more offense in general. To not stray off topic I will leave it at that.
  10. Yup, off topic but that 2011 team was not all-in. It should have competed in 2012 (technically did). 2011 was the best year as far as chances, but on paper 2012 was set up pretty well. Fielder wasn’t even much of a loss. Hart/Ramirez was arguably better than Fielder/McGehee.
  11. Chase Anderson isn’t really on a team friendly deal when he is a homer prone bullpen arm. If he isn’t in our rotation how nice is that deal?
  12. IM NOT TRYING TO START SOMETHING, but I think Braun proves we will cheer for anyone that is on the Brewers. Or Nyjer Morgan or Carlos Gomez (though I loved his antics) or Fransisco Rodriguez. I am probably missing a few recent ones. If we can cheer for guys after what they did...pretty sure grabbing your junk is okay and anything is okay if it would have sent us to the World Series. If Machado was on the Brewers it would have been "Yaaaaaaaaah take that Dodgers!! haha suck it!!!! Scoreboard!!! Scoreboard!!! Go sit at home and watch us in the World Series!!! MACHADO!!!!!" Everyone probably would have been doing the same gesture to their TV with a Miller Lite in the other hand. Okay maybe not that much in love with him...but you get the point. The only thing that is going to bug you even if he is on your team is the hustling thing...and his comment about it afterwards was pretty, well, bad.
  13. Yah, he didn't go get it when it looked like a blatant need and easily could have had a WS birth in the end. He instead got hitting in the OF last winter (something everyone thought we didn't need). I don't know why now he would go get an elite starter.
  14. I thought the same of both guys. Anderson wouldn't simply be a salary dump though. His contract is still team friendly, especially considering the later years are options. Thames is tougher to judge, 1b/DH can play corner OF in a pinch...big power and decent numbers but very streaky. I also wondered if Davies could be on the move depending on what we could get. Problem with Thames is he still has another year ($7.5mil player option) so a team has to commit two years to him. I still think we could save $3mil per year from someone. Anderson isn't a salary dump, but not someone about to bring much meaningful (face value). I think I would hold onto Davies. He still has an option and I think he is really good starter depth at AAA we will be quite happy to have when the need arises. His price tag won't be very high so the depth is definitely worth the cost.
  15. I would not be surprised if Suter never puts on a Brewers uniform again. He will be arby eligible after next year and wasn't the greatest before the injury. Guessing he would have a chance to come back on a MiLB deal.
  16. Would not be shocked a all to see Chase Anderson go to save money. I don't think he is a pitching option at all next year. He wasn't bad, but not really a place with out current roster structure. I also wouldn't be shocked to see Thames moved to save that money. You probably can save $10mil or so by trading away Anderson and Thames. I think you could unload Anderson with his entire salary and Thames still has to get some interest.
  17. You know what is a bigger problem than Machado grabbing his crouch? The fact we aren't playing anymore.
  18. Yes, the Brewers were pretty adamant about this the second he went into a reliever. I have no reason to believe otherwise. Their tone was a lot different than when they spoke about Hader.
  19. If Braun is in the 3-hole next year Stearns failed us in the offseason. Braun is a decent bat overall (some pretty rough stretches, but had a nice hot streak to end the year), but that should not be that high in the lineup. Braun is more like a #6 (#7 if we acquire Realmuto) at this stage in his career. We need someone a little more consistently reliable than him to produce runs and get on base. The guy is 35 years old, average is nothing to sneeze at. It just isn't #3 spot worthy.
  20. They need to shake up the roster or else we will see a nice drop in the win column. I think Stearns needs to really make an effort to create a force with the offense. The pitching is there and will be there. If we are going to sell the farm it will be for a RHB...pretty confident there. I don't think he shoots for a TOR guy as I don't see the need. This team is bullpen heavy and will work that way again.
  21. Can’t believe basketball is around the corner! Noticed Wisconsin is actually predicted to return to the tourney. Good luck to them and their fans this year. The whole scandal right now is really killing my basketball mood though.
  22. I don’t have a problem packaging Peralta if it brings in a controllable impact bat (like a RH Yelich).
  23. There is no proof the ball was used in the game and the autograph is hideous sharpie. It will bleed even more over time and look like aboutsute garbage. The game ticket was more valuable than the ball in my opinion.
  24. I would also agree that was the top moment. Not only because of the actual game, but what it means moving forward. It makes us the defending champion and in my opinion after the offseason we should be the team to beat. I think it is a lot easier to look at the future after getting that division title vs. a measly WC birth. Getting the division and making the NLCS makes you think we got something cooking overall...WC and NLCS? Well, makes you think we just got hot.
