  1. Yes ... but that is assuming he is valuable enough to warrant a qualifying offer. That is far from a guarantee. It is pretty close to a guarantee....that we are not going to offer him a QO. That is a $18mil payday...ain't no way.
  2. After watching Dozier do the stupid tear thing after he got hits in the NLCS. We are the Brewers. We think of some "stupid thing" to do after hits like it is going out of style. Orlando Arcia dabs about 3 times a year when he hits a homer.
  3. Not like we accepted it and he declined. I am guessing there was no chance we were picking up that option at $15mil.
  4. I don't see any way they invest in a 2B only guy like Dozier. I would expect them to get a guy who can play multiple positions if Hiura is ready for the show. You can spend millions and then resort said player to a bench role later...it is such wasteful spending and doesn't help you out very much. It is a big reason why I could see Thames moving on somewhere else.
  5. Their TV Deal ends after next year I believe. With a new one they should be able to command a payroll north of $120mil seeing as Attanasio isn't really concerned about maxing it out when the team it good. They may even have the ability to go up to $130mil range...but that is purely speculation. They are up for a new TV deal at the absolute perfect time.
  6. I voted the Pina way, but I would not bring back Kratz as the back-up or depend on Nottingham. Is Maldonado really a starting catcher? Maybe he can come back to be a defensive duo with Pina. I don't get the affection with going out and getting a catcher for offense. The options suck and there is way too much cost and/or risk. Lucroy doesn't hit anymore, Realmuto is costly, Grandal is pricey and defensively sucks, Ramos is going to cost too much and is oldish. No thanks. Catchers are like relievers...I don't want to invest too much in them or depend on them producing for 3+ years in their 30s. If we want to improve offensively do it in the middle infield where it makes sense (or at 3B I guess).
  7. Okay...I think you have mentioned it enough. You can probably go without posting how you thought they would suck this year for a few posts. Not saying you are wrong, but jeez man. That being said should be an exciting offseason no matter what happens this offseason. The DBs looked fantastic in the game against the Rams...best I have seen in ages. The young guys were physical and right on top of their receivers. They have a ton of money coming off the books and they have the draft picks to make noise in the draft. They could have some fantastic teams the coming years.
  8. I wouldn’t be shocked if Soria declined his side just because he knew we wouldn’t accept our side. Looks better to decline it instead of a team saying you aren’t worth X amount of dollars.
  9. I just read about the $1 a month rate. That definitely is a downer. I read a bit about it and thought it might be a nice secondary way to save up for a vacation or something without really even noticing the money going anywhere. Haha that is really funny as I typed that up as a reason I could see someone using Acorn, but opted to delete it out of my post. Though I thought of an example of $25 a month and saving up for a $2,000 vacation...still would take nearly 7 years to accomplish if that is what your Acorn account was averaging.
  10. Those round up investment apps are a complete and stupid scam. Acorns charges $1 a month if your balance is under $5,000. That is 4% if you are putting in $25 a month. Yikes. Not to mention this really is not going to build you any meaningful wealth anyway. If you really want to maximize returns and actually invest look elsewhere. Acorns is great for people that have no ability to actually save the conventional way. People who like spending and have a hard time putting a big sum at once into savings. Even $25 is hard for some people. However putting in .25 when you spend $10 etc. seems like "oops I dropped a quarter, oh well". That can add up over time though if you have 50+ transactions a month. Suddenly those people can save a little bit.
  11. Montgomery has been shipped out to the Ravens.
  12. I don’t see it, in the regular season. The Brewers would not dare do this with how reluctant they are to use him as is. He is lucky to get into an occasional tie game when it is late in the game. To use him to start a game for 2 innings? Yah, there just is no way...and I wouldn’t do it either. The concept is intriguing, but not sure I buy how effective it would be over the long 162 game schedule.
  13. Other than 2014-2015 the Red Sox haven't had two consecutive sub 80 win years since 1966.
  14. Meh, that "easy scholarship" money is pretty overblown. I remember when I was a senior and got the list of all the local scholarships. There were probably over 75 (rural area), but after taking out the ones that I didn't meet a requirement (farmer, going into ___ degree, military), had GPA as a requirement( you need like 3.8 or higher to get those), or wanted FAFSA information (so need based) I was left with less than five...and they weren't high money ones. To really churn out a bunch of scholarship essays can be really time consuming if you are really thinking about what you are putting down. Not worth the time and effort when you don't meet the extreme GPA requirements or aren't in severe need according to FAFSA. Maybe it is easier in other areas, but in my experience there wasn't much worth even trying for.
  15. 1) I would rather be there losing the World Series than how we ended it. It is not all that uncommon to make consecutive World Series appearances so not like I would be scared of some terrible history of WS losers. 2) Not sure why anyone thinks we would have fared better against the Red Sox. They are good...really good. Yes, the Dodgers bullpen blew and ours doesn't. That being said our starters suck compared to the Dodgers...not to mention how much longer could we just keep using our pitchers the way we did? I think we would have ended up in a similar result.
  16. Schoop had one good week all season, he wasn't productive with the Orioles either. He was, if possible, even worse with the Orioles in June (.516 OPS)! And no....no other month except July was even close to good. Schoop ended up being an total waste of a roster spot. At least Villar would run up a pitch count and had speed. It is what it is...a flop of a trade. No need to try the experiment again. If he couldn't figure anything out in two months no reason to waste millions to see if he can right the ship in a new city, town, state, team, stadium, etc. next year. Especially when he could be a stopgap to Hiura anyway.
  17. I will forever wonder why anyone EVER returns a kick if they aren’t elite. Why would you do that? You hardly ever EVER come out ahead. It like why do teams run a random play before half? WHY?! Just kneel it. Haha man some of these football players amaze me. Good thing they are athletic.
  18. Yah, that punt will probably help do us in. Pathetic, we deserve to lose.
  19. Amazing Matthews wasn’t flagged there.
  20. Only reason it was a safety is because Bulaga blew it hard.
  21. Yah, the defense was that good. They nearly beat the Patriots on the road in the championship game. They were good. They didn’t have a sustainable group of players though.
  22. It’s a big mistake on Stearns part until proven otherwise. His fault for resorting Villar to the deep deep bench or his fault for allowing Counsell to put him on the deep deep bench. It’s still the Brewers fault for trading a guy who was actually useful for a guy who ended up complete worthless trash. Maybe he was a clubhouse cancer...? Maybe? But it’s kinda lame to just assume that. I am guessing Counsell just didn’t like him and decided to stop using him. Likely telling Stearns to get him something else.
