  1. Yah, let’s get Lopez up here in case there is a short outing by Wilkerson. If we don’t get Lopez up here we might be forced to use Zagurski for multiple innings.
  2. Seems destined to at least be traded before the All Star Break concludes.
  3. Your logic is to spend $3 to get $1. No way is Machado going to sell enough jerseys and merchandise to pay for his contract, not even close. The only way he will attract more people to the gate is by helping us win. The payroll just cannot fit it.
  4. Okay so then it is: $7.143mil next 3 years (While he is playing) $15mil the following 7 years (NOT EVEN PLAYING) Yah, not happening. The Nationals would have to eat all the deferred money from the time he pitched for the Nationals. So no team is paying him $42mil a year. It’s more like $30mil a year after the deferred money the Nationals should be responsible for is paid for by the Nationals.
  5. I get not always wanting to use your best relievers when trailing...long run probably a huge waste, but Jesus...Zagurski for TWO innings. Talk about an idiotic move.
  6. Lol oh Zagurski...one scoreless inning wasn’t enough CC?
  7. Well $42 mil AVG a year IS NOT happening. So they will have to eat money for us to even fit it in our payroll. Honestly $30mil a year is nuts. By the time they eat enough money to make it possible he is probably a bargain...not expensive. So you are talking one huge package plus a lot of money to the payroll. They would never consider trading him and we are not going to even think about trying to acquire him. In general not specific to us, probably Verlander is a starting point. While getting old his production is nuts. Probably a risky venture for any team.
  8. I suppose it'd come down to whether the Royals are willing to bet on regular AB's/change of scenery/relative youth leading to a rebound for Santana, which isn't all that crazy. We'd certainly be selling low on Santana, but we'd also be dealing from a surplus position to fill a major hole. I don't think it's impossible to think that they would be interested. Obviously would hinge on their thoughts of Santana. Teams didn’t like him during the winter and now he has some bad months under his belt. The fact we liked Whit in the winter and were looking to trade Santana tells me such a deal involving the deal was already not agreed upon. I find it unlikely not after Whit continues to be good and Santana is in AAA can’t bode well. Not impossible, but seems unlikely. We tried all winter to get MLB talent for Santana. I think we hold onto him at this point.

  10. Well last winter we learned Santana didn’t have much trade interest (and probably nowhere near the value his production would hint at). Considering his power stroke disappeared (like some teams feared) and now sits at AAA I am betting this proposed deal is not anywhere near what the Royals would want from us. I actually would not be surprised if this is what the Brewers were offering in the winter to get Merrifield. Merrifield is a better player at a more premium position so a few prospects to even out the deal. Royals would have gotten a productive MLB player that is younger than Merrifield. This deal now? No way Royals are taking that.
  11. Another key, drafting a guy in the first round who is going to demand hundreds of thousands over slot. That will pretty much sink your pool really fast. Draft someone who will go underslot and you are talking half a million dollars extra to throw around. Not saying you should do that, but that really effects things and makes it tough to get Cabell.
  12. How do they decide these rosters. Some teams have three representatives and there are a few players not even Top 30 in their teams system according to MLB.com. What???? I didn’t research the names, but that seems a little crazy. Do they just pluck random guys having insane seasons even if their prospect status isn’t high? I get how a lot of top prospects make it (duh), but some selections are weird.
  13. Because it took four hits and a walk to get him out. No one is complaining he started the inning.
  14. Yah...4 hits and a walk without recording an out? I don’t care who it is, 3 runner in a row and get out of there.
  15. It’s highest point was 99 feet and was falling before hitting the scoreboard. By the time it hit the scoreboard it was starting a decent faster than it was going horizontally. So I would be comfortable saying there is absolutely no way it would have gone a 100 more feet. If it fell about 20 feet down for every 10 feet it went farther, 433 makes a ton of sense.
  16. Sorry, but that is not near 500 feet. People made that hit seem way farther than it was. It was only off the Miller Lite Ad. I remember Prince Fielder and a few others actually hitting it off the scoreboard. So if that was close to 500 then Fielder was hitting almost 600 foot bombs. 433 feet seems short, but it was dropping fast. Unfortunately calculating speed and angles is hard watching a TV. My high school science classes won’t help me here.
  17. Since when have they been talking down to us? Most are penciling us into a postseason spot and give us a legit shot at the division. We are getting quite a bit of national attention. I need to watch whatever networks you are tuning in to. Haha I don’t watch those sports shows on TV. Those are typically a lot more bias than articles on the internet. And yes...non Brewers based websites are talking about the Brewers. Not as much as we should as the #1 NL team...but hey.

  19. Woodruff would actually line up perfectly as he pitched 4 innings on 7/2, would be normal rest for him. Wilkerson last pitched 6/26. Maybe they simply think Wilkerson is the better pitcher right now, but agreed it is surprising. Just pure speculation and probably a long shot, but maybe Woodruff is one of the players currently being discussed in on-going trade discussions. Pitching is pitching. Why would it matter if it is at the MLB or AAA level? Doesn’t make sense to me to be honest. Regarding Burnes I don’t think he is a rotation option anymore. He was moved to the bullpen and I don’t see them changing that unless our starters start dropping to injuries like flies diving onto poop.
