  1. You don't think Arcia, Burnes, Ray could land 2.5yrs of Stroman? Take a look at what Sonny Gray brought back - very similar comp with Stroman. I'll take Arcia, Burnes, Ray package any day over what the As got. Yeah it's selling low on Arcia but if he doesn't rebound offensively then what? He still has plenty of value at this point. If he becomes even halfway decent offensively where his bat doesn't hurt you then there's a lot of value there. Burnes is still Top 60 and MLB ready - look at his road numbers, they're great. CS killed him. Ray absolutely has bounced back - definitely not to his elite status pre-2017 but he's putting together a strong AA and is sitting at a 121 wrc+ with a 12% BB rate and will finish with 25+ doubles, 5+ triples, 15+HR, 25+ SB. That's a strong package in general Well that would first depend on if he thinks Stroman is even a TOR arm. I’m not so sure he is. The comp is probably accurate assuming teams feel like Stroman can be like his 2017 self.
  2. Manny Machado will get traded. If they are saying it isn’t even close it may be for now, but eventually they will take the top offer. I don’t think the Orioles are crazy if the competition is that crazy high demanding that kind of price. The can posture for more All the way up to the deadline if they want. Not necessarily a bad move. That report seems questionable though. Something there isn’t true in my opinion.
  3. That’s not even close? Must really hate both those guys. If that report is true we ain’t getting Machado. If it costs that much whoever is getting him is making one terrible trade if they don’t win it all.
  4. Keston Hiura will be the only Brewers representative for this years Futures Game [sarcasm]assuming he isn’t traded before than.[/sarcasm] He will be apart of the Team USA roster. The game can be seen on MLB Network or MLB.com at 4:00 PM ET on July 15th as apart of the MLB All Star Game week festivities. For complete information: https://www.mlb.com/news/2018-futures-game-rosters-revealed/c-284471810
  5. It sounds like you'd be looking to replace Saladino then? That would probably be the most logical option if we traded for Machado or Escobar, I'm not sure on his option situation if we can send him down...but I believe we could. Well assuming Orf/Saladino both stay when Cain gets back. Despite his exciting play the last week defensively I think Keon Broxton still goes down...but we will see. If your asking if I would keep Villar, yes. I’m guessing they would replace Orf on the roster, but depends on what each shows between now and a trade actually happening.
  6. Has he ever been in this position though? Not even close. He needs to go through 3 or so July’s where they are really competing before I think you can start drawing conclusions about future moves. I doubt he will trade for a major rental, but I wouldn’t try to claim it as a fact. Even after years you never know what he might do with any given team/situation. I’m not really disagreeing with you, I find it highly unlikely...but not impossible.
  7. Unless Miller is going to play the majority of the time at SS that position is still a black hole until proven otherwise. Saladino and Orf are likely both going to give garbage production. Villar/Miller isn’t too shabby for 2B, but that still leaves two problem child’s at SS/C way too often.
  8. That just isn't something Stearns would do. How long ago did you ask him? I doubt we get Machado and I really don’t want to give up Peralta or Burnes to do so. If they get Machado they better pair it with a move for a nice controllable player too. We better be making sure we win the division if we get the top rental on the market. Merrifield + Machado anyone? Haha
  9. Yup, of all the mistakes we have done in the past costing us after the fact it goes like this: -Drafting like we are picking names out of a hat (Endless space) -Sabathia trade and everything else.
  10. Would love this too, but is it realistic?? 8-3 would be the requirement. Not impossible. The longer we can keep the current streak last the better. Win 3 more in a row and suddenly you only need to go 5-3. Play well and avoid consecutive losses.
  11. Are you saying chatwood has been an excellent investment or the defense? Chatwood has been bad. Mid 4s era. Hasn't made it past 5.1 innings since April and only has one start over 6 on the season. What about that is excellent Yah, wouldn’t the defense be the good investment because Chatwood isn’t good? Without the defense he is even worse. I’m not sure what makes Chatwood any better of an investment over another pitcher. They all get the same defense.
  12. I’d feel bad, but the guy shouldn’t have even got a MLB deal let alone $2.3mil.
  13. Yah, long term is he going to be this good though? It could be a breakout year or he could resort back to the last couple years. That still is really good, but not worth what the Marlins are going to demand.
  14. Those type of trades are likely a thing of the past. Without the draft pick compensation for rentals the value in those guys has really declined. Yah, I wouldn’t want to be on that side of a trade either...good thing they are pretty none existent now. To give up that kind of prospect package you are likely getting 1.5 years of control minimum. The only example of a rental getting huge value in recent memory was Aroldis Chapman, I cant think of any other ones getting much premium prospects. I think Zack Greinke was stil lunder the compensation for rentals era. Of course the Cubs probably didn’t win the WS without Chapman, so I don’t see regretting that one.
  15. I just caught up reading the various forums here and kid you not, I saw 4 instances where the same poster was either belittling someone or being asked by another to chill or being warned by a mod. What the heck does it take? It's the same guy over and over again. I apologize in advance for adding another unwanted post to this topic, but for heaven's sake please clean this up. It's been this way since he started posting. Actually, no. Occasionally, sure...but don’t starting inferring I do it all the time. I can think of a lot more posters who are 1000x worse and constantly go after other posters. So I’m sorry for my apparent attitude for a few posts. Now we can stop talking about it and Brewer Fever can stop policing my posts. If you have a problem there is a private message feature that you can use to message the mods know. It’s uneccessary to continue to post about your displeasures in the actual threads.
  16. I am just going to have to kind lay disagree. I will say averaging out Merrifields WAR the last two seasons is not painting an accurate picture. That is a half year plus a a full year compared to Dee Gordon’s three full years and a half year. Using BR.net and making the half years full years more accurately you get something closer to this: Dee Gordon 2014-2017 = 3.2 WAR Whit Merrifield 2017-2018 = 4.1 WAR Dee Gordon also had a PED suspension that probably knocked his trade value a little bit and the money is a big deal. The surplus value Merrifield will hold the next 2.5 years is really really high. Not being an All Star player makes his trade value dependent on the market. Just looking at the cost and production no doubt he is worth giving up a Top 100 prospect. What are Peralta/Burnes these days generally speaking, #80ish? Woodruff is maybe a fringe guy? If a team can land him not using a Top 100 prospect (or really close to it) that team is getting quite a value addition and the numbers would say that. You will get your moneys worth before a possible decline that may not happen for years. I’d like to see us make a deal involving the Phillips/Woodruffs of the world, sweet deal for us. I just don’t see that being enough.
  17. Did you really just compare Whit Merrifield to Mauricio Dubon and Dee Gordon. Dee Gordon is a pretty questionable example. Not only was he incredibly expensive when traded, but his OPS only got past .750 once in his entire career...three years before the trade. His production and price aren’t comparable at all...so why compare the return. Mauricio Dubon has 100 good ABs this year and suddenly he gets penciled in as a starter despite a pretty horrid 2017 campaign. I’m not really trying to discount Dubon as a prospect, I like him, but saying his value is as comparable as 4 years of Whit Merrifield is quite a statement. At this point I’m just going to chalk it up as you really hate Merrifield for some reason. We all have those players I guess.
  18. It’s not like they are going to be players smoking pot in public so I highly doubt it kills ratings...that’s an extreme stretch to claim.
  19. Braun had been a combined 8.2 WAR in 15/16 and Puig had been a combined 2.4 WAR in those same 2 years. Hindsight is amazing. Since there were many signs that it could end this way not really. I was also very pro-trade when it ended up not happening and was pretty confident this would happen. So...not really. Not like this is shocking.
  20. Really odd time to bring up a complaint like this. Because Braun just struck out? It made me wonder how Puig was doing these days and saw he was still hitting well. Rough stuff.
  21. Last two years: Ryan Braun: 1.6 WAR Yasiel Puig: 4.5 WAR Man that trade would have been great on money saved alone. The fact Puig has been 3x better so far...wow. What an epic fail to date.
  22. And unfortunately it seems like the fantasy stuff stuck and the real details fell by the wayside. It's what leads to conclusions that the Brewers simply got lucky. [sarcasm]Yah, that totally makes sense. Cause once again I definitely said the “Brewers got lucky”. Also I definitely got stuck on the fantasy details. Cause if you look back I was a massive HH19 believer from start to end.[/sarcasm]
  23. There were reports on many of them, some more detailed than others. Like most rumors who knows what was or wasn’t accurate...or what was never reported. The real stuff wasn’t as fun as the fantasy stuff so it got buried quick.
  24. I’d love to have Realmuto because Pina has infact been “that bad”. I don’t think I would trade Hiura for him. I like Hiura a lot and I’m not giving him in a package unless it is DeGrom/Syn.
