  1. Don’t mean to question Counsell here, but not sure how I feel using Aguilar in the 8th. You know Vasquez is coming in the 9th and you essentially put two lefties to hit in the 9th...one being Thames. Pretty brutal.
  2. If you are Ryan Braun you need to do something against this lefty. You are between two lefty hitters.
  3. Without a doubt the right decision to take out Chacin and put in Hader. That being said nearly a complete choke job by Hader. Kratz saved two pitches with magical snags and he barely hit the strike zone with a 3-2 pitch.
  4. Man the Pirates are really shooting themselves in the foot today.
  5. Sounds like Rock is on a vacation. Doesn't he have the majority of the offseason off? Has he done this before? I know he has been missing before..but not sure for something like this. Could be something private and they just are labeling it as “having the series off”.
  6. Chacín chugging along through 6 innings: *Counsell frantically calls bullpen to get someone warming up*
  7. You aren’t getting Thor without Hiura. Plain and simple. Their supposed preference for young pitching tells me the preferred of Peralta/Burnes is definitely gone. Maybe you can can cute with lower level guys after that...but Hiura and our top pitcher would be good as gone.
  8. You aren’t timing the market by saying “there will be a correction in the next few years”. That’s the easy part...the problem is try to get in at or near the bottom. What if it takes another few years and the market soars until then? Any correction probably won’t get it low enough to be where it is now. Makes you better off just getting in now, growing, taking the correction hit, and then still be ahead. You could also wait it out for a correction watching the market keep rising and wait for the correction. When you think it is back on the rise you buy in...but wait, it was only halfway down. Then you lose all the market gain and still take on some of the correction. If one could time the market to any realistic accuracy everyone would do it and people would be swimming in money. The fact is it isn’t. If you are looking at a 20+ year investment it’s smartest to just get the money into the market. Only timing of the market I would recommend is in the event of a big market crash or recession. If you are lucky enough to be in a good financial state at a time like that it could be a wise idea to start putting lots of money into the market. Then again that just being at the right place at the right time...not really timing anything. Timing the market is really just sitting around hoping it sees a correction sooner rather than later and hoping you put (or take out) in your money at the right time.
  9. I just have a hard time seeing us make that major of a trade so soon after using major prospects to get Yelich. That would be two insane packages traded away in half a years time. Seems like a lot of prospect capital getting shown the door in a short period of time. I’m pretty indifferent on making such a trade or not. It’s definitely worth it, but the prospect hit (especially after Yelich) would be a heck of a lot.
  10. Okay I get what you are saying, but your logic to go with one of these two over Machado can be used to prove Machado is worth it too. Acquiring Manny Machado would be like an NL team replacing their pitcher in the line-up with an MVP potential bat. Yes he would cost more, but he is also a major improvement over Mercer/Iglesias. You get what you pay for because we currently are getting about zero value from SS. But a medium or a large, you are going to get your moneys worth. Just a matter of how much you want. What isn’t worth it is paying the price to get an average player at 2B when we already have an arguably average player there already. Probably not worth the price for a questionable improvement.
  11. I love all these people speaking like it is fact that Brad Miller isn’t the answer at SS. I bet 0% of said people have watched one of the 3 games he has played in and are strictly regurgitating a box score. Way to draw conclusions after 28 innings going strictly off errors. Maybe he is a little rusty? Villar was pretty terrible to start at 2nd base and honestly he is almost above average now. I will make my judgement after a lot more than 3 games...I doubt he is a total hack in the field. Even if he is probably better the Orlando Arcia overall.
  12. Yes he gave up little in the HR department last, but that is such a small part of the formula. I bet a career low K rate and career high walk rate are probably bigger problems for Chase Anderson than a fluky HR stat.
  13. That would have to be some month to have an overall OPS+ above 135... He is in a slump, but he's also been pretty clearly NOT the problem with this offense... IMHO the issues with the offense (in decreasing importance) are: 1) 3 Black holes at the bottom (C/Pina, SS, P) 2) Santana/Villar, while not black holes are horrible at the plate (High K, swing at anything, Few pitches per AB). 3) Braun regressing. Brewers leader in pitches per plate appearance = Jonathan Villar 4.28 Amount of research you did = 0
  14. When it comes to short term investing “for fun” always remember it isn’t a loss until you sell it. I’m not much of a fan of trying to time the market etc. The average person trying to get creative with their market investments isn’t really a wise idea.
  15. I think everyone on this forum knows that.
  16. Jose Iglesias is a pretty sexy name if he can keep his offensive production near what it is now or better. He plays really good defense (one of the best rated) and honestly is essentially what we were hoping Arcia was going to be this year. He is coming off two pretty bad years offensively, but what he is doing now is something he has done multiple times over the course of an entire season. He would definitely be my #1 target at SS assuming the Tigers fall out of the race.
  17. Not buying it. We loved Turang and have loved him for years. He was probably one of the top guys on our board including everyone that went before him. I don’t buy it for a second that the Brewers didn’t talk to a guy they have adored for years about what his signing bonus wants were. Passing up our offer just wouldn’t make a lot of financial sense. Going to LSU for three years will slow down his development to some degree. I have a hard time believing that is worth gambling for a little more money in 3 years. Unless he has some crazy plan to go to junior college for a year he will be signing. If he doesn’t I wish him the best of luck on a highly questionable decision.
  18. You just admitted it will make no difference in the grand scheme of things. You basically want to shift the blame to the pitcher, not the fielder. Thinking I’d rather give up soft hits rather than hard hits. Soft hits mean you are probably pitching well, hard hits quite the opposite. If you are pitching well you can afford a tough luck hit here or there.
  19. Ryan Braun became the only active player with 300 HRs and 200 SB.
  20. Ryan Braun trying to turn DPs...honestly sounds like one of the worst ideas ever. He would probably get injured often as an added bonus. It’s beyound crazy and to think there is any chance it happens in the middle of the season is complete non sense.
  21. That first stat is stupid. Your hitters are going to hit well in wins and worse in losses. Pull up any hitter and look at their splits for wins vs. losses. For their career- Ryan Braun Wins: .340 Losses: .259 Orlando Arcia Wins:.261 Losses: .236 Craig Counsell Wins: .286 Losses: .224
  22. My memory might be off, but I feel like his problem wasn't fielding, it was throwing the ball to first base. Glad you don’t have to throw to first at second base!!
