  1. Baseball knowledge is nice so he can at least hold a conversation. I don't like when Rock is doing most of the talking.
  2. Haha the Bill thing is so true. Baseball knowledge is pretty bad.
  3. 22 years old at A ball. Not really impressed.
  4. Alright Briggs. Don't be going to Vegas with that prediction. Now you just need to tie Khris Davis into this.
  5. He is older and only has one year left is why one would trade him. Give Woodruff the #5 spot. That is all fine and dandy if that is your thought process there, but flat out declining the option makes little sense. Calling him a #6 or #7 on a good team seems hard to believe. I bet there are some contenders RIGHT now that would take him as their #5 possibly even a #4. In the offseason at least half of baseball would be interested in Garza at $5mil. That doesn't necessarily equate to a giant bidding war, but the interest would be there to trade him quite easily
  6. Matt Lepay is a football guy. I know this because of one thing he does with the Brewers. Go watch an Eric Thames homerun highlight reel and wait for Lepay to celebrate by saying his name. Sometimes he says "Eric" normally and then "Thames" is said in a growly voice like Eric Thames just sacked the QB for a big loss. Think I am kidding? Go watch a video and close your eyes.
  7. Couldn't disagree more Briggs. Your examples are not good. Those guys were coming off poor seasons and one wasn't even a starter last year. How is that a good example? There will be lots of interest in Garza at $5mil if he keeps up similar pace the rest of the season. The option will without a doubt be picked up barring implosion.
  8. If BA ever leaves I want Jerry Augustine to take his spot.
  9. How many threads are we going to start about this? You are beating a dead horse. Sorry if you don't like Anderson, but he is one of the best. Why do a select few on here get so tied up and interested in the announcers. It is like the other day when someone was knocking Bill Schroeder for saying "If you aren't going to get a hit that is the best possible alternative." only for said poster to correct Bill and say a two run error would have actually been the best outcome. Does complaining about the team and players just get boring so you take it out on announcers. Half the complaints I see in the game thread I don't even recall hearing because I don't tediously listen to the announcers word for word. If anything at this point the casual Bill Shroeder errors and the nightly mentions of his terrible playing career are funny cause you know it is coming. All announcers have things that bother you, but I don't understand getting so worked up about it. For instance the way Matt Lepay says "Thaammmeees" with a growl type voice it may be the dumbest sounding thing I have ever heard an announcer do. However I don't call for his job, start threads, or lose sleep over it. I just want to know if other forums fret over their announcers like we do.
  10. Davis' five hits lead Shuckers to drubbing of Jacksonville on Wednesday Shuckers tie a franchise record with 20 hits in their fifth straight win on Thursday By Biloxi Shuckers http://food.fnr.sndimg.com/content/dam/images/food/fullset/2014/2/14/0/NY0911_Fried-Shrimp-with-Spicy-Remoulade_s4x3.jpg.rend.hgtvcom.616.462.suffix/1392602538904.jpeg Rough day to be a shrimp. (Food Network) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: MGM Park acted as it was a giant fryer Wednesday night as the Shuckers won 13-0. Freddy Peralta started things off on the mound only giving up one hit in four innings of work. He was very erratic walking five batters and racking up 92 pitches on the day. The Shuckers offense was on fire hitting three homeruns(Davis, Coulter, Garcia) with Johnny Davis racking up five hits on the day. Clint Coulter also had a huge day hitting a homerun, two doubles, and totaling four RBI. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Freddy Peralta (4.0 IP, H, 5 BB, 5 K) started the game while Nick Ramirez (3.0 IP, 2 H, BB, K), and Forrest Snow (2 IP, H, K) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Johnny Davis (5-6, R, 3 RBI, HR, SB) Clint Coulter (3-5, 2 R, 2 2B, 4 RBI, HR) Rene Garcia (2-4, R, 2B, 4 RBI, HR, BB) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Johnny Davis collects hit #5 on the day. 11. Yup sucks they couldn't gain a game back. Back to treading water for another day.
  12. Monte Harrison Defense has made strides and the power is showing up in game. If he can't find better consistency I am going to get pretty excited. He has one of the more exciting ceilings in the system, but also still a high risk guy. While Jake Gatewood has made quite a few strides in his game the power tapered off after the first two months and he is a 1B only guy.
  13. Oh I don't find it fun, but I also don't turn it on to complain. Then call it a game after we are losing by a run. If that was my mind set I wouldn't turn it on at all. Which I have done...most notably Game 6 of the NLCS in 2011. Shaun Marcum was pitching so I didn't waste my time turning it on.
  14. Whatever makes you feel better. How're you feeling the last three weeks? Fine and dandy? Do you enjoy watching yadier yuck it up in the dugout? It's negative. To say game over after a few innings losing by at most a few? Why do you even turn the game on honestly? Doesn't sound like a fun experience.
  15. Corey Ray also going yard.
  16. I saw Hello Kitty in CF prior to game. Can anyone confirm?
  17. So this guy has a lot of time, a lot of money, and sounds like no social life. Fun
  18. I remember before the season Lots thought we had the worst rotation in baseball. Now we have two guys pitching like aces and a pair of other starters doing great things(Davies/Garza). Things change quick. Can only imagine 3 years from now when we add Hader/Woodruff/Burnes/Ortiz to that mix. I think our rotation will be our strength in 3 years. Actually I think our entire pitching staff(with bullpen) will be one of the best in the league in the near future. I think the pieces are there to do it.
  19. I would be absolutely shell shocked if he doesn't sign at least one guy to an extension this offseason. That is one step to the post rebuild one should expect. I'd like to see Jimmy Nelson get extended. Considering the age he will hit FA he might be willing to work something out with us right now to get that payday as the gain from waiting might not be much for him(wouldn't get many years on FA market). We shall see, but I think he gets something done with someone.
  20. Clancy how long have you been apart of this forum yet don't understand a fielding rating system outside of fielding %? Does range not exist in your defensive handbook? If they guy can't play 3B there is no way on this earth they are playing SS. Have you seen Gatewood play in person? No friggen way he plays SS. Regarding Yamamoto he is an OK guy to me. Nothing really stands out. System is too deep in my opinion for him to crack my Top 30. Dream scenario seems like a back end starter.
  21. Who has the worst record right now? Because that would be the team claiming Villar. Said team could easily just throw him on the bench and trade him in the offseason for something decent if they don't actually have a spot for him.
  22. Settle the heck down. The guy has had a mere 46 ABs and has enough airlines miles logged between Milwaukee and Colorado Springs in the past couple months to earn lifetime platinum status. Yah not to mention very little of those ABs were logged in consecutive starts/days. Experienced MLB players struggle with random playing time. His stats now mean as much as if he was hitting .400. Keeping in mind it is way easier to hit everyday(what Arcia did) vs. sporadic playing time that Lewis Brinson got check this out: wRC+ through 54 PAs: Brinson=31 Arcia=34 **This doesn't even take into account Lewis Brinson's .111 BABIP!!** Orlando Arcia was at least sporting a .231 BABIP. Briggs do a little research next time cause he is actually doing better than Arcia if you ask me.
  23. Bet you were pretty concerned about these problems too: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rizzoan01.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/troutmi01.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/j/judgeaa01.shtml
  24. Betancourt, Burgos batter Shrimp for fourth straight win Javier Betancourt hit the eventual game winning homer in the second inning By Biloxi Shuckers Javier Betancourt hit his fifth home run in the second inning on Tuesday, a go-ahead two-run shot (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: Hiram Burgos gave up a first inning run, but settled in after that to go five strong while striking out seven Jumbo Shrimp. While the Shucker offense was a bit sluggish the bullpen locked things down and a Javier Betancourt 2-run HR in the second inning ended up being all they needed in the 3-1 win. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Hiram Burgos (5.0 IP, 4 H, ER, 2 BB, 7 K) started the game while Josh Uhen (2.0 IP, H, 2 K), and Jorge Lopez (2.0 IP, K) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Troy Stokes Jr. (1-4, 2B, RBI) Javier Betancourt (1-4, R, RBI, HR) Clint Coulter (1-3) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Javier Betancourt's 2-run HR was the difference maker. Biloxi Bottom of the 2nd Biloxi Bottom of the 2nd Jacob Nottingham walks. Clint Coulter pops out to catcher Cam Maron in foul territory. Gabriel Noriega grounds out, shortstop KC Serna to first baseman Taylor Ard. Jacob Nottingham to 2nd. Javier Betancourt homers (5) on a fly ball to left field. Jacob Nottingham scores. Rene Garcia lines out to third baseman David Vidal.
