  1. I think the real problem is we don't have any idea what we need. Outside of bullpen help it is hard to know with so many career years going on. Which ones are legit and which are due for big regression? I don't know if we can come to the conclusion we need any bats due to a 2 week period where they have slumped. I have no problem acquiring controllable pitching if the deal makes sense. Regarding the offense I'd just go with what we have now. Unfortunately it is hard to make trades with a team like this. We can make better decision this winter or next summer.
  2. It is a compliment to our park. Our park is easier to get to, tailgating, cheaper, parking for people, more food options, better seating, etc. Wrigley Field was incredible to tour(before the renovations), but when it comes to game experience it has nothing on Miller Park.
  3. Have some utter patience. Keon Broxton looked the same way and wasn't even playing good defense. Are you talking early last year? Because Broxton was great defensively in 2016. No I am talking about this year. Bat was terrible minus one hot streak and the defense has been inconsistent. Some days he is playing well defensively and other days he is taking bad routes dropping balls.
  4. Have some utter patience. Keon Broxton looked the same way and wasn't even playing good defense.
  5. While I agree with your narrative that any team making the postseason can win I think it is wise to be smart and not overpay. To the A's we don't have the right 2nd tier prospects to get Gray. It would be unwise and just not smart to give up our 1st tier prospects because of that. I think Gray would easily be a Brewer if we had the right prospects, but we just don't it seems.
  6. If stearns used a double negative, "...aren't not moving...", then maybe he is going to the rotation. Sorry not a direct quote. Haha
  7. I would guess 150 innings would be about right. He has thrown 125 before, but I don't know if only throwing 100 innings(probably even less) this year effects that. As someone mentioned in another thread if we have playoffs in mind you probably start him in the bullpen next year so you have him pitch out of the rotation the end of the year and not the start. Though I have to question that actually happening because I can't recall it ever being done. If that was the case why don't tommy john surgery guys do that?
  8. I think this is pretty telling, wouldn't you say?? If the A's were ONLY interested in Brinson and didn't like any of the other Brewers prospects, then why is DS so in love with those prospects, and even moreso as fans, why are a lot of people here in love with them?? That is one teams opinion and he has tried to move our better prospects(Ray/Ortiz) and I am sure there are many other ones he has put in trade talks(especially Phillips). The main problem is the fact he doesn't really want to buy big right now so is looking to get a deal vs. paying the price. Also I don't believe anyone here is in love with our prospects. I think all the people wanting to hold onto them want to do so cause they just don't want the Brewers to buy.
  9. Last I heard they really wanted a CF prospect. You could make an argument Ray and Phillips are bad prospects. Not surprising if they don't like either of those guys that much.
  10. Pretty sure on the broadcast last night David Stearns said they aren't not moving Josh Hader out of the bullpen this year. They are happy with the results there and they don't want to screw that up.
  11. I don't want to trade Brinson for anyone really. Brinson is a giant overpay for the Brewers when it comes to Gray. The only reason is it Brinson or bust is because they don't like our other top prospects. If they valued our other guys then we could easily have made a deal happy and I am sure Stearns put together, what he thought, was a worthy deal. Brinson just that. The Brewers want to and our going to role their dice on Brinson not Gray. We will see how that ends up in the long run. I think Brinson out plays him pretty easily in the next 6 years vs. 2.5 years of Gray. You seem like trading Brinson is something we have to do and it is not.
  12. Brad Hand actually sounds like the perfect target. Let's get a solid bullpen guy that is controllable and won't cost us an arm and a leg. If the market is that stale Stearns should get it done.
  13. It was Brinson or bust. Brewers will NOT be getting Sonny Gray barring maricle of changes.
  14. Shuckers end road trip with extra-inning victory over Pensacola Saturday's win earns Biloxi Shuckers franchise it's 200th all-time victory By Biloxi Shuckers Jacob Nottingham's 10th inning sacrifice fly lifted the Shuckers to a 2-1 win on Saturday (Michael Krebs) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: Aaron Wilkerson lead the way for the Shuckers in their 2-1 win over Pensacola in extra innings. Wilkerson start the game going six dominant innings while striking out seven and only giving up one run. The game went into extras tied, but three consecutive walks et the stage for a Jacob Nottingham game winning SAC fly. In the 2-1 win Johnny Davis notched his milestone 30th stolen base on the year. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Aaron Wilkerson (6.0 IP, 3 H, ER, BB, 7 K) started the game while NicK Ramirez (1.0 IP, H), Josh Uhen (2.0 IP, 2 H), and Jorge Lopez (1.0 IP, K) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Jacob Nottingham (1-4, RBI) Johnny Davis (2-3, RBI, BB) Angel Ortega (2-4, RBI, BB) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Three walks in a row load them up to set stage for Nottingham SAC fly. 15. Nowhere to add a bat. These guys performed for months. They will either figure it out or we sink.
  16. I hate nothing more than when the game ends before we bat. When did this rule go into effect?
  17. I always say it, but wow this team gives a lot of 0-2 pitches to hit. Why?!?
  18. That's the Hader that gets people excited. Had some good control and his stuff was nasty.
  19. Bet most said 20 years ago that we'd never have replay review in MLB. Robostriles is so far out there past reviews and pitch clocks.
  20. I wonder that, too, but also wonder how much more time he needs? If this team weren't competing, it might be a 'meh, whatever' situation; but, now, I'm not sure they're going to have that patience. I think it is too late for Junior Guerra. Garza is coming back not to mention they are still actively searching the starting pitcher market. If he somehow survives all that Anderson will be the nail in the 2017 Guerra coffin.
  21. I think Stearns is just checking in on all potential options like any other GM. In my opinion Straily is a terrible target even if one ignores the fact he probably won't fare well at Miller Park. He isn't a difference maker and due to his cheap salary he demands more. He totally deserves added value because of how cheap he is financially, but that doesn't do much for us. Our payroll is cheap as it is. Straily is a good target for a team with a massive payroll that needs a cheap mid rotation guy.
  22. Yep. Straily's calling card is giving up bombs. Bigtime pass. In fact, it actually makes me want to puke to think the Brewers might be in negotiations to get him... Agreed. He isn't special as it is...in Miller Park? Wow no thanks. Would be absolutely steaming if we give up how much it would cost to get him.
  23. I have hit that "not even worth wasting my time replying" point and I hope some of you guys also get there cause I am a little tired of seeing this guy not only post his opinion, but also reply over and over again.
  24. Can't bring up Broxton or Phillips due to sending them down in the last 10 days. I think it is important to note how sporadic and how limitted the ABs will be. I will take my chances with the guy with MLB experience. Kyle Wren likely to be a dumpster fire in the few random ABs he will get before Phillips(my educated guess) gets called up or Keon Broxton.
