  1. I have a hard time believing a random forum poster is ahead of the curve and already knows these guys will amount to nothing...but a MLB GM is going to still value these guys highly and we can make out like bandits. You are sitting here staring at a couple stats while every GM has an army of professional scouts watching these guys. Who to trust...
  2. DS running this team right! Love it! Of course overreacting arm chair GMs who think this team is on or are a trade or two away from being on par with Nationals, Dodgers, & Cubs will be upset with him. This team is a developing with no real core yet. Come next year we will be more defined hopefully & in real buyer position. The fact David Stearns may not do something isn't what is so annoying about this guys post(s). It is the fact he is freaking out and there is still a week to go. Can't wait for Packers training camp to start...so he will leave. When is it acceptable to just ban him because no one likes him and his comments just stir a big negative pot ruining threads. All he does is create battles between posters and cause threads to spiral into the wrong direction. I like different viewpoints on here, but not like this.
  3. That cheap option means Matt Garza is controllable x4 longer and helps with two postseason runs. I would consider that a pretty significant difference. Not to mention better stats. Not that I think the Brewers are even shopping Garza. He has been our 3rd best starter.
  4. All this talk about other sports and using them as a comparison makes me agree.
  5. I think some of the people freaking out over not making moves don't realize or remember that most moves don't happen this early. Seems this year there have been a ton of early moves, but let's not make that seem like we have to too. Gomez and Lucroy were both traded very late in the game. There is plenty of time and most of the moves this deadline are yet to come across all of MLB.
  6. With all due respect, why are you on this site? Because I like the Brewers...and I like watching winning baseball, and I want them to do whatever they can to win baall games, but it's just not happening..and I'm frustrated. It's okay, like the rest of the state I have Training camp opening in 3 days, and then the Brewers become irrelevant anyway. Ok we don't care. You aren't even a real fan.
  7. I think some of you guys need to stop acting like standing pat and not trading any prospects is the obvious best choice. Prospects appear and disappear faster than you blink. A year ago we were losing our minds over Diaz/Erceg and now they are meh. Jorge Lopez was our next great pitcher and now he is pretty terrible. No one is saying get someone now and flip them later. It is just one option if our team ends up not competing in the future. We could also hold onto them and compete. These could also be good ideas. Sonny Gray could be a bargain now vs. this winter or next deadline. Who knows. There are potential downsides to each plan and disaster situations. Holding onto prospects promises nothing. I don't think there is any superior plan for this deadline. Except not targeting half year rentals...which we could all probably agree is unwise.
  8. It would not be moronic to buy. Maybe rentals, but controllable guys? That would not be moronic.
  9. Thank gosh for Fangraphs playoffs odds. What were they at the start of the year? A week ago? Silly silly silly. We don't and won't make decisions on something so random.
  10. I'm looking at Santana's splits this season and trying to understand why on earth he should be platooned. Or more importantly why anyone would put Domingo Santana in CF...he is pretty brutal in RF.
  11. I do not think think there is anything wrong with his vision. Last I checked I don't think he chases that many pitches outside the zone. So it isn't like he isn't registering if it is a strike or not. I think his hand eye coordination just isn't that good. He flat out whiffs constantly on meatball pitches. I don't think Keon Broxton is ever going to lower his K%. Because of that he is going to be average at best and likely worse with all the cold streaks.
  12. I never really had a problem with Clancy believing Suter could be an MLB player. If I recall one of the recent times he rated him #1 he also called him a mid rotation guy. I just don't get how in a deep system our #1 guy isn't anything short of a potential All Star. If you are going to rate Suter #1 he better be a future ace in your mind. Too bad Clancy rates these unknowns way too high. If he rated them more like 15-20 range people might take them more seriously and be interested in his view. When you put them above 5 or so Top 100 prospects it's hard to even take seriously. Being aggressive when rating certain guys is fine just don't over do it. I love Monte Harrison and will rank him higher than most, but I won't rate him #1.
  13. Has Brett Phillips been an immediate upgrade yet? I don't see why you are doing a chest pounding post when that hasn't happened. Not saying it won't happen...but as of right now Brett Phillips hasn't been all that great. I will not comment on your sheet knowledge as I don't have enough fabric experience in my life. I need to watch more video.
  14. I don't because you had already replied to my bunting comment.
  15. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/brewers-vs-phillies/2017/07/22/491553#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=play-by-play,game=491553 There are years worth of data and many studies that pretty much prove that except for some very limited situations (not this one), sac bunting is dumb. Your odds of scoring a single run with a man on 3rd and 1 out is minisculy better, if better at all, than with a runner on 2nd and nobody out. Your odds of scoring multiple runs are diminished. All for a play that even has to be executed first before getting the opportunity, and execution rates have also gone down over the years. This isn't an emotional reaction based on the game. Its fairly scientific. Outs are just too precious to give away freely. It is...because my post had nothing to do with the bunt.
  16. Odds >50% of comments in an IGT can actually be positive. 100000000-1? Yes because blowing a 8-1 lead just makes people feel warm and fuzzy inside. Try just about any IGT.
  17. Gohara, M-Braves deal shutout loss to Shuckers on Saturday Freddy Peralta struck out six over five innings for Biloxi in the loss By Biloxi Shuckers Freddy Peralta has 44 strikeouts over his first six games and 29.1 innings as a Shucker. (Mark P Driscoll) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: Like a typical Freddy Peralta start strikeouts were aplenty as Peralta mowed down six Mississippi batters. Unfortunately Luis Gohara on the opposing side demolished the Shuckers through six innings picking up eleven strikeouts of his own. The Shuckers offense was flat all day collecting seven hits all together and none of which went for extra bases. Rene Garcia went 2-3 on the day and was the only Shucker to have multiple hits. While Freddy Peralta had a solid day going five innings while giving up two runs the bullpen gave up six leading to a 0-8 loss. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Freddy Peralta (5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K) started the game while Travis Hissong (0.2 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, BB, K) and Quintin Torres-Costa (2.1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Rene Garcia (2-3) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Rene Garcia second hit of the day. Biloxi Top of the 6th Angel Ortega singles on a line drive to center fielder Stephen Gaylor. Javier Betancourt strikes out swinging. Rene Garcia singles on a line drive to right fielder Tyler Neslony. Angel Ortega to 3rd. Freddy Peralta reaches on a fielder's choice out, first baseman Joey Meneses to catcher Kade Scivicque. Angel Ortega out at home. Rene Garcia to 2nd. Johnny Davis singles on a ground ball to left fielder Jared James. Rene Garcia to 3rd. Freddy Peralta to 2nd. Tyler Bortnick pops out softly to second baseman Emerson Landoni.
  18. Anyone can cherry pick numbers to make someone look good. Or bad: .218 AVG 124 Ks His wRC+ is 83 second to last among qualified CFers. The long brutal slumps aren't worth the hot streaks. His defense also isn't anything to write home about. About time the Brewers stop trotting out a replacement level CFer. Maybe he can go figure something out in AAA. I still think there is some upside to him, but we can't be wasting time right now trying to find it as we compete. Anyone can not understand stats and use the wrong ones to evaluate a player. Broxton has been an above replacement level player this season. If he were playing the same defense he played last year he might even be close to average. But he has a huge flaw and it is a flaw that has not improved at all this season and in fact has gone the wrong way. I would send him down and tell him he has to lower his K% to keep his job in the organization and if he can't do it then so be it, we get rid of him. You just can't K at 38% and survive in the majors unless you are the best defensive player in the game and he isn't that. Even if that means choking up and hitting for less power he simply has to reduce those strike outs. I did not use average because I thought it was a good statistic to use. It was purely used to show one can make a player look bad by cherry picking just as one can cherry pick to make one look good. You say he isn't replacement level, but then say with his defense from last year he is close to average(not even average yet). Sounds like a guy who is replacement level. I have seen the strikeout thing mentioned a lot lately and it is a bit ironic because earlier this season(or before the season can't remember) many didn't appreciate those who were pessimistic about Broxton due to the K's.

  21. Augie's analysis is just brutal. Literally makes me cringe.
  22. Welcome back Braun. Goodbye likely comes before the end of the game...sadly not sure I should put it in blue or not.
  23. I will be at a game in August on the dugout...unfortunately on the wrong side for Keston video.
